Overall happy with product, very nice to known when and how much the pump is working. Was a pain to get connected to wifi, had to use the alternate setup with the device ID. Adroid users be warned you need to tap the word BACK top right in app to navigate the menu. Taping the android back button dumps you out of the app, currently. Also it typically takes a while for the app to signin to my pump (I just hit signin and go read reddit, when it finally logs in the app will pop back up). But, no monthly fee, so Im ok with the app being a little unpolished. Overall very happy with my purchase!

Update: 6-15-22: I spoke with someone from PumpSpy, and they are going to add the features back and explore how to better address this going forward. The developer of this product has actively removed a key feature: cycle history. Previously you could see 90 days worth of information on how often the sump pump ran. Now it only tells you the number for the current day. They have not provided any announcement or reasoning or otherwise indicated why they removed this key feature. If they are willing to remove that feature, it’s only a matter of time before future “improvements” further nerf this product and its usefulness.

I have two sumps in our basement, with water sump backup on one, and whole house generator. We have a fair amount of groundwater in our neighborhood, so they run fairly often, especially when it rains. Have had to replace sumps every few years over last 19 years of living here due to frequency of use, but even with redundancy of two interconnected pits, would always have to rely on noticing one was not working. With these devices, now get alerts with power disruption, sump failure with water level sensor, and also feedback on how often they are running. This is great piece of mind, and superior to an alarm you might miss. Only glitch in installation was ease of reset button, which after direct tech assistance, discovered you need a sewing needle pushed in fairly far to reset. Paper clip, tooth pick or finishing nail wont do. I wish direct tech support was available without having to leave email, but when needed to troubleshoot, call back was very helpful and much appreciated.

After reading previous reviews I felt the exact frustration the other guys who work in IT experienced. Between the semi-confusing instructions and the delayed support getting the device up and running can be very tedious. So the actual physical install of the device was simple enough; plug it in, get the water detection device in thes sump well. Getting the device to hook into the network was another issue all together. Do yourself a favor and do this: First download the app and create your account and residence in the app; now close the app Next plug in the device (the light on the socket will be red) Connect your mobile device to the network that says Pump Spy, your device will tell you it cannot connect to the internet (thats fine, youre trying to get the device to connect to the Pumpspy servers). Open a internet browser on the device and go to the url 10.10.115.1/config/scan_page_outer.html Youll see a screen with wifi networks in your area, choose your wifi and put in your wifi passcode (make sure you get this right or youll regret it). After the wifi code has been inputted youll get a black screen, wait a bit and your light should go green. Go back to the pump spy app, settings, manually add device and put in the 15 digit identifier on the side of your device. After that youre all set. So far so good with the device. Good luck!

Update: Tech support eventually reached out via Facebook messenger. They sent me another unit that had the same problem connecting as the first. Then a 3rd unit arrived, and I was eventually able to get that to connect. Now that it is connected, it seems to work well. _______________ It wont connect either automatically with the app or manually with a computer or phone. The website login option has been discontinued. Left a message on Facebook. but no response. Called and had to leave a message with no response.

I gave this 4 stars because, so far it has worked as advertised but there are a few issues. This unit only sends data to the Pumpspy server. If this company decides to discontinue this service, the unit will be rendered useless. In addition, the AC current path through the unit must pass through a 20 amp hall-effect device/chip (this allows for counting cycles and duration). My only problem with this is the 20 amp rating of the device. They could have used a higher rated (up to 50 amp rating) hall-effect chip to make this unit more robust for those of us using higher hp pumps and it would have cost very little more. If the hall-effect chip blows, no power to the pump. To be fair, I havent had this happen with a 1/2 hp Zoeller pump but it still concerns me. My primary purpose with this device is to keep a running count of pump cycles to determine when to replace the switch contacts. The Pumpspy software does not keep a total running count of cycles (just total per given day). As such, I have to transfer their collected daily data to a spreadsheet to get a running total.

I inherited my moms house last year and intend to keep and use it. Unfortunately, the house is two hours away and located in a small community where pretty much every basement is running a sump pump or two or has had drain tiles installed. Although I have a young farmer friend who checked the pumps every few days, I was looking for an alternative and this seemed to fit the bill. I am running two sump pumps--one in the basement and one in a culvert system outside the house. I purchased a PumpSpy for the inside sump and was pleased by how easily it set up. The idea of receiving a text if there is a problem is really nice. I purchased another PumpSpy for the outside unit, but the unit is not rated for exterior use. With some minor rewiring, we were able to locate the unit inside the house and I now have two functioning units that I check every morning from two hours away. In the last month, the PumpSpy showed that the inside pump was running for only five seconds and then shutting off. An inspection showed a sticky switch which was fixed. A week ago the other unit alerted me that the outside pump was running excessively. An inspection showed that the float had gotten stuck against the side of the sump hole. One final, note: I have had some minor issues. An email will solicit a quick response from the company with a solution to the problem. I strongly endorse these for monitoring sump pumps.

I have had this for several years...it works well for me and allows me to monitor my well pump during storms. The Android app can be quirky but overall its a great tool to have

So, I’ve had basement water problems since we bought our house 17 years ago. Multiple time where my pump failed and flooded my basement. I’ve had back up systems fail as well. So I stumbled across this product and I’ve had it running for about 2 weeks now. My results are startling. It was fairly simple to set up and get running. Maybe like 5 minutes. The app is easy to use. But what I learned about why I’m getting water is the biggest thing I learned. My sump pump goes off, on average 900-1200 times per day. With an average of 5800-8300 gallons of water per day. Once I seen those numbers, I needed to do more investigating as to why. My first thought it is rain water running through, but I found out that there is a water inlet pipe right next to the sump area and has sprung a leak under the basement floor. While it’s not an easy fix, it is definitely fixable and will remove the terrible events of my basement filling up once every 1-2 years. Thank you pump spy for being available to so it could open my eyes and investigation as to why I have basement water problems. I highly recommend this product

Install process via the app was very clunky. The out of the box instructions didnt help AT ALL but thankfully someone else here in Amazon Q&A shared their steps. App feels very old, not well-maintained, kicks back to the username/login screen, and indicates bad password (despite saving it in a password manager). The detector ring that goes on the sump pump could have a MUCH longer cord What works well is when the app is syncing, it sends notifications when the sump loses power.
