> 3 dayOverall happy with product, very nice to known when and how much the pump is working. Was a pain to get connected to wifi, had to use the alternate setup with the device ID. Adroid users be warned you need to tap the word BACK top right in app to navigate the menu. Taping the android back button dumps you out of the app, currently. Also it typically takes a while for the app to signin to my pump (I just hit signin and go read reddit, when it finally logs in the app will pop back up). But, no monthly fee, so Im ok with the app being a little unpolished. Overall very happy with my purchase!

Greater than one weekI was looking forward to this but unfortunately disappointed in the execution. The device was not detected as a supported model by the app. Doing the manual setup failed in the same way. It also doesnt support 5GHz Wifi, so youll need to be on a 2.4GHz network for your app / phone to see it, which I didnt care to mess with. Then I had issues with the bottom outlet working for other devices. The connection was loose so just wiggling the plug in the socket would disconnect power. I plugged my nearby dehumidifier into that outlet and it would keep shutting off if I wiggled the cord. After difficulty in setup, poor app experience, poor app reviews, lack of 5GHz wifi, and loose power connection, I lost faith that it would meet my needs. Could be a great product, but needs some work on setup and quality. If they release an updated version addressing these shortfalls I would reconsider. While I like the ability for it to detect a pump degrading, for now you could just get a smart outlet that monitors power draw and pair it with a water detection sensor (like abode) for half the price... the route Ill be taking now, then you also wont have a single source of failure for reporting either.

> 3 dayUpdate 11/2022 They restored the pump cycle history and updated the iOS app interface recently. I like it just fine ( again). The notifications of internet loss and restore , high level etc are very reliable and useful. Expensive… but it’s a great product. They removed the 60 day in latest app release. Now you have no idea how your pump is operating or how much water it is processing. Their tech support will not respond to requests concerning this issue. Total fraud and now a useless product. Do Not Buy !!!!

Greater than one weekMy situation: Years ago, I had a 14 inch flood in my finished basement. Now, I have 2 sump pits. The one in the front of the basement runs less often but I still need to know what is going on. The one in the back of the basement has high volumes of water. I have 2 1/2 horsepower Zoeller pumps. I recently replaced both Zoeller pumps. The float switches last around 10 years. But as I started to examine the conditions in the basement, I realized that I would like a little more protection and I wanted to have a better understanding of what exactly is going on down there. So, I read about this PumpSpy Smart Outlet and realized that it could be a nice addition to my system. So, I bought 2 of them. Installation: Basically, you plug in the PumpSpy Smart Outlet into an existing outlet and male pump plug into the top female receptacle on the PumpSpy Outlet. It lights up in Yellow for set-up mode. Then you download the PumpSpy Android app onto your phone, connect it to your wireless network, add the location, add the device, and once it is online the top outlet will be a green light. Not terribly difficult to set-up but you will need to follow the instructions. Results: The Android app allows me to see how frequently the pumps run, how long the pumps run in each cycle, and the approximate gallons pumped. Now I know exactly what is going on down there with the pumps. Very nice. The best feature is that you can add your cell phone number to the PumpSpy Android App and you can receive text message alerts if anything is going wrong. If your internet goes down, you will get a text message. Most importantly, if the power goes out, you will get a text message as well. This is perfect for my situation since a power outage could lead to a massive flood in a bad storm. I also invested in the PumpSpy Battery Backup solution for the front of the basement which works off of the cellular network (not wireless). I will be adding a third Zoeller pump and it will also be using a PumpSpy Smart Outlet. How my system will work? The power goes out, I get a text message from PumpSpy. In a rain storm, the battery backup systems will last for 5-10 hours. I am installing a back-up generator, an inlet on the outside of my house, and an interlock device on my electrical panel. I get home and fire up the generator and my basement stays dry. The PumpSpy Smart Outlets are an integral part of my system that will allow me to make decisions based on the weather conditions. Love this product. UPDATE: i received a text message tonight from the PumpSpy Outlet: Excessive Motor Runtime. I checked the app and it looks like the pump motor was running continuously. Checked the pumps and the main pump was running but the water was NOT pumping out of the pit. I unplugged the main pump, checked outside and it turns out that the discharge pipe froze. I cut the excess pipe and used a heat gun to melt the ice inside the pipe. Plugged in the main pump and then it pumped and drained the pit. The PumpSpy App text message feature probably just saved me $300 because I never would have known that the pump was running continuously and it would have burned up eventually.

> 3 daySolid product. It is a bit pricey, but if youre looking to have the information and protection this provides, then this is your product. I had an issue, reached out to Pumpspy and they got back to me pretty much right away and got it solved. In my opinion, great customer service is as important as a product itself, which is why Im taking the time to write this review, as I usually dont.

> 3 dayWe finished our basement last year, and prior to that we took all the necessary steps to ensure our basement stayed dry... waterproofed the walls with a french drain, scoped all lines, replaced our sump pump and back up sump. We thought we were safe. However, our sump pump and back up has failed on us several times since (once was due to the float getting hung up and us unplugging the pump while we waited for the plumber - and then failed to check on it). Thankfully we were able to catch the overflow both times before they were severe, but we felt very fortunate that we were able to do so. To give us peace of mind, we finally invested in what we should have several years ago. I installed this myself in 10 minutes, in heels. So easy to setup. I had the outlet, water sensor, and wifi all completed and operational in no time at all. Its working flawlessly so far. I let the well fill to the point of setting off the sensor to test it and it sent me the alert immediately. Wish we wouldve purchased this years ago!

> 3 dayServes its purpose once you get it set up... but establishing the wifi connection was totally frustrating. The automatic set up on my Android phone didnt work despite multiple attempts. I finally had to use the manual set up but the instructions were incomplete. Among other things, it requires entering the devices serial number, but fails to indicate where to find it. I finally found it on the side of the unit, but it would have been much easier if it was indicated in the instructions. After getting the unit connected, the app provided no information on the pump status. I finally tried shutting down the app and restarting it. It then started to work, but theres nothing in the instructions about trying a restart. Overall, it took me over two hours of screwing around to get it working... when it should have been a 15 minute job.

> 3 dayI have this installed in my basement. I had a problem where my sump pump would run excessively. This would alert me. I was happy. Eventually the switch in the pump failed completely. Given the unusual circumstances of COVID-19, my county being on lockdown, people being advised to stay home, I leveraged the ability of this device to let me know when the pump needed to run so I could limp along until I could order a new pump and find a good time to swap it out. Great. Until I started receiving emails from the company bluntly telling me, and this is from the email, If you do not make the necessary repairs/adjustments, we will temporarily suspend your monitoring service until they are completed. Wow. So I had to stop doing my job (luckily I still have one) so I could drop everything and resolve their problem. Granted, these are extraordinary times, but there was no inquiry about if they could help, no ask if I could address the problem, just a blunt order to fix my pump. Apparently sending emails is too much of a strain for their system. Is this customer service? So again, if you want a cute toy to just tell you things are working fine, you want to see how long your pump runs per cycle, it does the job. It also gets old pretty quick. If you need something to help you out when things go wrong, look elsewhere. Device works great, but the attitude of the company leaves a lot to be desired and really diminishes the value of the device. Pretty pricey toy just to reassure you when things are good, but abandon you when you really need it.

> 3 dayI returned it. - Be aware that the water sensor is a float that attaches to the pipe in the sump well. Not a contact sensor. This is not shown anywhere in any sales materials with this product. I needed a contact sensor as I also wanted to detect *any* water around the well. Either from a water heater leak, pipe leak, or foundation leak during a storm. Well, OK, the float is fine. I could even use it without it until I dropped a new pump in. (My sump cover, like most (#radon), is sealed so, kind of a PITA to remove it unless it is a major repair or replace event.) But I returned this device much more so because, I could not see the ROI on it for the price. Unless you have a home you are away from a lot, I would skip it. Even then, you SHOULD have a back up sump pump. If you have a back up sump pump, you can get a smart back up pump, if you must. However, you could also just have a smart water sensor down a bit into the sump which will notify you when the water is high enough for the back up to be triggered either by failure of main or by power failure. Either way, if you are not home, you STILL need a person to get there within a few hours to see what is happening and fix it or, drop in another marine battery if the one you have is old or about to die. Also, does this house you are away from have back up power to send you the notification? Like during a hurricane? If you have a second home, you probably have the money to simply pay a plumber to check the system once or twice a year AND be on call for heavy rain situations. So, this device is still useless. So, since I am home most of the time, I could not see any advantage. It also does not seem to monitor the health of the pump much at all. It kind of does. But even Pump Spy could not fully explain it to me. That is a red flag. But the deal killer for me is it did not integrate with HomeKit. When I asked if it would work with Matter — which will combine HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Home and others into one common system — in the coming months, they had no answer. I think money is better spent on replacing your pumps, the main and the back up, about every decade. If it runs all the time, like from ground water, every 7-8 years. If it is just when the sump has water from big storms (mine), I am at 11 years and, about to replace the main. I might run the main via a smart plug simply to alert me when it is running and when the power is off using Shortcuts and Automation. I guess there might be a way to tie in weather and rain amount to sensing if the sump is not turning on, then an alert if not on after an hour… Hey, THAT is something THIS should do! Then it might be worth it…

> 3 dayUpdate March 2019 - It has not started sending those alerts as I complained in the review below. Overall,I am satisfied with the performance of this device. I believe there is a lot of room to make improvements such as allow customers to setup custom notifications depending upon cycle length, # of cycles, time of day etc.. But overall I am satisfied and will rate it at 4 starts... for This unit doesnt alter for any sump pump malfunctions as it claims. It only monitors if sump pump is consuming electricity or not and just monitoring for how long or often it runs for. It doesnt even do the basic check of if pump normally runs for 30 seconds and t it gets stuck is one time it gets stuck and keep running for 15 minutes, it never picks up that. It has happened to me multiple times now, it never sends any alerts at all. To me its the most basic alert that it needs to send right away... Its waste of $150 for nothing....
