Growing up in CA, we had to worry about earthquakes. When we moved to Idaho, my husband thought I was crazy for wanting these; but I won the arguement :-). Anyhoo, we had these on all tall furniture in the house and the kids dressers, but didnt have one on the dresser in our room. My son, at age 6, was playing in our room and opened all the drawers and it came crashing down. In slow motion, I saw it coming down, but couldnt stop it! In a moment, I thought he was seriously injured or worse, thought about the call to 911, etc. As I quickly ran to pick it up, worried about what I would see, I see my son huddled in the 12 inches between the down dresser and the footboard of our bedframe; completely unscathed! This is one of those times I will always think about how close I was to loosing my son. PUT THESE ON ALL DRESSERS and TALL FURNITURE. They are worth the cost!!!

These are very easy to install. I am using these on my aquariums to keep them from falling of the stands during an earthquake. They have been through one earthquake but it wasnt strong enough to even move the aquariums but if it were I am sure these straps would make it through a bigger earthquake.

Yes, you could just purchase straps and screw them into the wall, but then youd be missing out on a lot that these particular straps have to offer. First, they are actually safety tested to a particular weight - is it really worth saving a few bucks to take a chance that the straps you buy might shred in a strong quake or if a big kid (or two kids) climb on your piece of furniture? Second, the adhesive/velcro combination makes it so you dont have to ruin your lovely, expensive, heavy furniture in order to secure it. Third, everything is right there in the package, with instructions, ready to go. Convenience and safety in one. Ive used these straps for my armoires and other particularly heavy pieces of furniture and lighter duty straps (KidCo Straps and anti-tip brackets for) for midweight and lighter pieces.

If you live in SoCal you need these to secure tall furniture. It’s cheap, easy to install, strong and most importantly, provides extra safety for you your family during a quake. Can’t put a price on that.

Living in an earthquake zone makes you aware of what might happen to tall furniture when the shaking begins. Ive used this and other Quakehold products to keep the disaster to a minimum when it does occur. Since these products come in several colors its fairly easily to hide the installation.

I have a very tall (7+ft) and wide (6.5ft) mahogany China cabinet. It weights a ton. I recently moved it into my living room because it was so big it over powered the dining room. I realized that, being on the second floor, it shook when people walked by. Nothing major, but it did have me uneasy. I used two of these straps to secure it to the wall and was amazed. No more shaking or wobbling. I could jump up and down in front of it without the least bi movement. I echo other reviewers in cautioning that the straps really need to be attached to a stud, This wasnt a problem given the width of the cabinet. The cabinet may not be exactly centered with the wall studs, but i am confident it is secure. Ive also seen what can happen when a child pulls out the drawers of a dresser and tries to climb it. My nieces dresser cam tumbling down on her because she did just that. I wouldnt hesitate to put these on any dressers or tall pieces of furniture in a house with kids. I am ordering another set for a grandfather clock. I dont think ill be able to enter that with a stud, but its considerably lighter, so i think I can get away with a sturdy wall anchor.

These have worked great, granted weve never truly tested them. I installed these on furniture to prevent tipping over if/when my child pulls and climbs on things. Hopefully shell never try hard enough to see how well these straps work! They seem pretty sturdy though.

We had three geometric shelf units stacked on their sides. These straps anchored the top one to the wall. Just perfect.

My toddler loves to climb in drawers to play. So when we put a new dresser in her room with a heavy tube TV on top, I had horrible visions of her getting crushed. These straps were very easy to install and are hidden from view. They are very strong and I love that I didnt have to drill holes in the dresser to install them. And wouldnt you know, not 20 minutes after I installed them I caught my kid climbing in the dresser drawings. Chalk one up for the good guys.

This item, unlike many childproofing kits, requires only 2 screws in the wall and adhesive on the furniture item in 2 places. This is much less damaging to walls than some kits that have 3 screws for each of several straps, for example. While I dont live in an earthquake prone area, I feel my toddler is safe with my large bookshelves secured with these straps. I cant even see the adhesive because it is at the top of a tall bookshelf and the strap is brown, like the furniture.
