> 24 hourSome PC specs and parts: CPU: Intel i7-4770K (OC at 4.4 GHz) (http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-4770K-Quad-Core-Processor-BX80646I74770K/dp/B00CO8TBQ0) MB: Asus Z87 Plus RAM: Kingston 32GB @1600 MHz (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J8E8Y5C) & (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TTEHMW) OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 SSD 1: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB (This SSD) SSD 2: Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-250GB-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-7TE250BW/dp/B00E3W1726) HDD 1: WD Green WD40EZRX (4 TB 5400 RPM SATA III) (http://www.amazon.com/Green-4TB-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00EHBEUZO) HDD 2: WD Black WD3200AAJS (320 GB 7200 RPM SATA II) HDD 3: WD Blue WD5000BEVT (500 GB 5400 RPM SATA II) As a note, I added the HDDs just to show that an SSD is a better option for the OS (Despite the rpm, SATA version, etc.). For people who already know this, ignore them. Anyway, numbers. I tested with Samsung Magician, which I chose to install to keep track of the SSD life. The information this software gives me is Sequential Read (MB/s), Sequential Write (MB/s), Random Read (IOPS) and Random Write (IOPS) Parameter: SR - SW - RR - RW SSD 1 551 531 78995 80176 SSD 2 553 534 79341 76861 HDD 1 132 138 1170 587 HDD 2 42 43 238 272 HDD 3 52 50 282 393 Now, everything changes as soon as I enabled RAPID mode. The score is: SSD 1 6751 5563 252530 180442 Sadly, I removed the 840 EVO from this PC and installed it in another PC before I gave RAPID mode a try, so I cannot compare the results among those two SSD. One thing about RAPID mode, tho. Itll consume more RAM since the PC boots. The more RAM you have, the more will be wasted just to turn it on. And after enabling RAPID youll see another small decrease. From the 32 GB I can only use 30.94 in the OS (The rest is shared with the GPU). And from those, about 4 GB are used just to turn it on. This feature needs at least 2 GB of RAM, but it is recommended only if you have at least 4 GB. Conclusion: I can recommend this SSD (850 EVO) over the 840 EVO because its almost the same price (or at least it was when I got it). It also has a longer warranty. The only reason why Id chose the previous 840 EVO is if I wanna save as much money as I can, but still have a solid piece of hardware. If you are building a new system, this is a must. If this is an upgrade from an HDD, itll boost performance and your overall experience. If you already have a good SSD, might be worth waiting to a newer version with better specs. So the gap justifies the purchase. L8er!

> 24 hourUsing hard drives for gaming. Samsung had good reviews and installed with no problems and is performing fast. Shipped using Amazon locker. Was fast and convenient.

> 24 hourSooo fast it will change your life. This is my 2nd Samsung SSD (1st is 840 EVO 128 Gb) and I love them both. The prices keep dropping and even where they are right now its so worth it especially if you have a crappy 5400 rpm laptop harddrive. Seriously, it makes a world of difference.

> 24 hourIts an SSD, what can I say. Its write speeds are super fast, the look of the drive itself is great. Not over the top like some or tacky like others. Will look great in a quality build.

> 24 hourNo complaints here, Ive been using it for nearly 4 months now and its been nothing but solid. I bought this as a supplemental to another 256 SSD, so I have no comparison in upgrade in speed from a non-ssd. All I know is they are very fast, and I would kill myself if I had to use only spinning hard drives (I could really never go back and be happy).

> 24 hourThis worked out good for me. I wanted to clone my Windows 8.1 hard drive before it croaks. Although I was a PC & Network Technician for over a dozen years (until 4 years ago) it was a challenge. Took me about 6 hours including backing-up all my USER DATA before moving ahead with cloning. I cloned once my USER DATA was backed up and deleted from my source drive. Cloning went great with the Samsung Utility disk that came with the new drive. I had a few other issues but did a lot of Googling and got answers. I also performed a few Windows 8.1 tweaks in order for it to be used right (like turning OFF Indexing in this new drive and moving the Indexing to my storage (2nd hard drive) drive. Googling for the best way to do this stuff is easy but does take time. Also: put all your USER files into your 2nd drive and not this Solid State drive. Doing this will help this new drive last a lot longer. You can change your default save-to paths in Windows quite easily, as well. Anyway; Im VERY happy with the speed increase. Almost made me miss being a PC Tech. Almost. Thank you.

> 24 hourThis drive ROCKS, flat-out. If your processors can handle the speed, you will notice pretty major improvements when switching over from a standard HD drive. Only thing to watch out for is replacing an original HD which came with Windows pre-installed in a recovery partition. In other words, if you dont have a Windows install disk, youre probably going to be stuck buying a new copy of Windows to go along with your new SSD. Also, I would avoid the easy install method of simply copying your old HD over to the new SSD. Yes, you can just copy your HD and get off the ground quickly with your old desktop and software exactly like it was, but thats a rookie move. You dont want all that cluttered old code on your fresh new SSD. You can do better. You want a clean install of Windows on this thing, trust me. Yes, it will take time reinstalling everything but its worth it in the end! This is not a negative in any way toward the Samsung SSD, its just a word of warning in case you think this transition is only going to take a few minutes. WRONG. Pack a lunch. And then reap the rewards.
