It truly does hit the advertised speed, and Im not talking about burst-transmission occurrences either. But it only maintains that speed for a few minutes until the onboard DRAM cache is filled up, then it drops down to about 1.5 GBps (Gigabytes, not Gigabits)..... which is still pretty darn fast.

First off I am not a casual user. I move extremely large GB files minimum 3 to 5 GB files constantly. I use large Photoshop files daily. And stream large GB movie files across my network all day & night. The speed of these EVO drives are spectacular. Some people are reporting that you will see not perceptible difference between the EVO drive and other M.2 drives simply are wrong and theybdo not understand the following. All M.2 drives are backwards compatible with each other. However all M.2 drives are NOT NVMe drives. Standard M.2 drives use the SATA connection that standard 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch hard drives use in your system with power and data cables attached. Those connections have speed limitations. So a standard M.2 will only function at SATA speeds. Enter NVMe M.2. This is a completely different animal. NVMe M.2 does NOT communicate thru the SATA bus. It communicates directly with the PCIe bus. Therefore speeds jump from a SATA III max of 600MB transfer speeds to well over 3000MB transfer speeds via the PCIe bus. So if your motherboard only supports Standard M.2 which equals SATA III. Then No you are not going to see any gains in speed over bargain M.2 drives. But if you actually take the time to research and find out if your system natively supports NVMe M.2 drives then BOOM! The doors blow open and the data transfer speeds are again Incredible.

First off, great product and great corrective action taken by amazon. Serious issues in either the Amazon warehouse, Samsung manufacturing plant, or people buying these and sending them back to amazon. I bought a 500GB Samsung EVO and a 2TB Samsung EVO Pro. The 500GB Samsung EVO was used but I just reformatted it and that was that. The 2TB EVO Pro came in what appeared to be a sealed box but had a 250GB non pro inside. Amazon did take my word and send me a replacement, though be warned. The odds of ending up with this product being heavily tampered with (in my experience) is very high.
