Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM)

Speeded up my laptop tremendously. Linux Mint boots in 6 seconds. Everything is faster. Quite happy.

I got the 500GB SSD to upgrade my 2014 Dell Inspiron 15 - 3542 (Core i3) laptop which earlier had 4 GB of RAM and 500GB HDD (5400rpm). I run Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (64 bit) on this laptop. Prior to the upgrade, it used to take 35 seconds to boot up and used to hang sometimes during zoom calls.

We have a number of these Samsung EVO SSDs in use in multiple systems. In laptops they usually fit the provided disk mounting area perfectly, in desktops you usually need a 3.5 inch mounting bracket. The 500GB size is ample for most applications but you can get the larger 1TB capacity and it is a perfect replacement. The Samsung data migration software has worked flawlessly for us each time; the only challenge in using it is that for laptops that lack a second disk option theres no easy way to mount the new SSD to do the data transfer, but most modern system can boot from an external USB device so you can put the existing disk into an external enclosure and boot from it to do the transfer. For many systems, the vastly improved boot time is the payoff. For gaming, having a faster system disk is always helpful (but hardcore gaming enthusiasts might want to consider a M.2 SSD if its supported by their hardware). I havent needed to use Samsungs tech support often, but when I have its been helpful.

Format via Windows NOT Samsung Magician. Save yourself the headaches. Just google how to format a new Ext HDD. Done in 60 Sec, just get the enclosure to make life a bit easier. No issues now.

Saw a review saying that after xx/xx date that Samsung was shipping bad product and had reduced speeds. but i just got mine and formatted fine with about what i would expect in storage capacity and speed tests were fine to. so, Im happy with my purchase.

Replaced the hdd in my PS4 pro. Worked perfect.

Fantastic drive, worked instantly after formatting, very fast, and its worth the price!

Solid SSD, Ive had great reliability from Samsung SSDs. Beats the crap out of the HDD I replaced, as expected. The only thing I dont like is the migration software, crappy data rate. I used software from Apricorn, purchased here on Amazon with a USB to SATA cable, worked much better than the Samsung software.

Viendo la gran cantidad de comentarios positivos y los reviews de rendimiento, me animé a comprar este SSD. Llegó hasta Perú en apenas 3 -4 días estando el empaque en excelentes condiciones. Lo utilicé para un fresh build y no hubo ningún problema de reconocimiento en la instalación. No es necesario actualizar nada si se hace una instalación desde cero, al menos en mi experiencia. Posteriormente ya instalé el software de Samsung para mejorar el rendimiento.
