> 24 hourIf you own any type of tank that has a filter, this is what to get. I have this in every tank I own, from my 125 gallon turtle tank to my 5 gallon shrimp tank (trying to figure out how to put it in my 2 gallon tank as well). Its by no means a miracle cure all product, but it does make tank maintaining a lot easier and less smelly. Had to use this in a pinch (with a lot of Prime) for an uncycled 55 gallon (I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OVER CYCLING, MAKE SURE YOUR TANK IS CYCLED AND LEVELS ARE IN RANGE!!!). Anywho, instead of spending $$$ on carbon and all those other fancy ammonia eaters, buy this. Its rechargeable, when they turn black, soak in bleach, til it turns white, then soak in a dechlorinator (Prime). These do turn brown, just as long as they are not black, youre fine. 100 ml = 100 gallons. So you kind of have to do the math. They shouldnt need recharging til about month 6, depending on how stocked your tank is. I have about 500 ml (one full bottle) in my 125 gallon turtle tank (1 turtle) with my Fluval FX6 filter (turtles are dirty little creatures and she doesnt eat in her tank either) its fine so far! So much better than changing the carbon every week. I recommend this and Prime to anyone who is starting out in this hobby, turtle or fish. Although, like I said, these are by no means miracle products. They get the job done and they do it well, especially with the proper tank maintenence.

> 24 hourI love the real Purigen. I use it in all my tanks. I’m leaving five stars for the actual product. But what I received in the latest order was fake Purigen. The real Purigen packaging is thick plastic, with two panels flat-welded together along the sides, top, and bottom. The fake package is made from a tube of thin plastic, crimped at the top and bottom. Once opened, the smell of the fake Purigen is strong and sour. The inside of the package was covered in loose particles that had fallen through the mesh bag containing the knock-off Purigen. The biggest and easiest-to-spot difference is the product itself. The real Purigen comes in a fine-mesh bag, nearly square, and welded together with no seams. It’s just a flat, smooth packet. The fake Purigen bag is a long, thin rectangle nearly the length of the packaging with a seam down the middle of one side. The mesh on the fake bag is too large, allowing the particles to fall through.

> 24 hourAuthentic Seachem Purigen is incredibly good at adsorbing tannins and nitrogenous compounds. It can clear your water very quickly and leave it sparkling. Ive noticed there are some counterfeit Purigen out there and in the Amazon warehouses. The counterfeit is packaged in a wrapper that is too large for the Purigen packet. It could fit two packets but only holds one. The counterfeit Purigen Packet itself is long and narrow with a seam down the middle on one side, compared to the authentic Seachem Purigen packet which does not have a seam and is shorter and a bit more square. (see picture) I didnt have my authentic Purigen wrapper anymore but the authentic wrapper fits the Purigen packet without a lot of excess material. The counterfeit Purigen seems to crumble out of the mesh packet, while the authentic Purigen does not. In the pictures, you can see the authentic Purigen packet next to the counterfeit one to get an idea of the size difference. As far as what the counterfeit product is made of, I dont know. It could indeed be repackaged Purigen, Im just not sure.

> 24 hourI have purigen in every single one of my change. I have 18 tanks at the moment and all of them are using purigen. For me it is a must-have. It makes my water 100% clear. You can also recharge the product so it is like new and I do it all the time.

> 24 hourReally made a huge difference with my Axolotl tank. I have 2 HOBS and put this in one and next day crystal clear water and it’s staying that way. This is one of the best aquarium products I’ve purchased. Will buy again.

> 24 hourThis is hands down the best product on the market for removing tannins from aquarium water.

> 24 hourMakes the water crystal clear!! You can see the impurities in the purigen almost right away depending on how bad you need it. We have a gold fish and a few others in a 45 gallon community tank. We definitely need this stuff and I highly recommend it!! Although once it gets completely dirty I do NOT recommend bleaching the purigen and reusing it. I just buy more Purigen every time. No sense risking contamination to your aquarium with the bleach. I don’t trust it. Not worth the risk to me.

> 24 hourI bought this because it was recommended for correcting color quality. I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank, running a fluval filter. The filter keeps the water clear, but they are do nothing for stained water. Among fish forums, it seems that fluval filters are known for becoming easily stained - though I have found no consensus regarding what causes the stain, whether driftwood or coloring in food or whatever. The stained filters seem to perpetuate the cycle of staining the water. I added this small seachem packet to my existing filter setup. There is a single bag, placed directly over one of the fluval filters existing charcoal bags. I dont need it for filtration purposes - just to correct the water color. I cant speak for how well it works as a filter, but the color is excellent. Less then 24 hours after adding it, my water remains clear (filter still seems to be running optimally, even with the added packet), my fish (and amphibians) show absolutely no distress, and the staining is completely gone.

> 24 hourIt does exactly what it advertises, and you honestly don’t know crystal clear water until you have used this. But, I tried to regenerate this and it was a no go! I followed the instructions to a T and even let it soak in conditioned water for 2 days and still couldn’t get rid of the bleach smell. I ended up tossing it and buying another one but the upside is it will last for a few months so at most you’re spending $11 every few months for a new one. Not a bad deal!

> 24 hourIf you want clear, clean water in your tank, buy this. Ive been using Purigen since I started my planted tank. It keeps the water crystal clear and keeps all my water values in the sweet spot. I dont use carbon in my tank. This does what carbon does for water clarity, but better. It will not neutralize certain chemicals or remove medications from your tank, so carbon still has its place in some situations. You can regenerate these by soaking in bleach and then using Prime to neutralize. It takes 48 hours for the process, but you can reuse it over and over - something like 6 times or more. The process isnt too bad. But Ive decided to bite the bullet and buy a reusable bag (The Bag) and a large supply of Purigen. For the time and effort to regenerate, Ill just replace my purigen after a few months of use. If you want a quick and easy solution to water clarity issues, this is it. Plop it into your filter (or somewhere where it will be in the water circulation) and let it do its thing. You will see clearer water in just a few hours and in 24 hours, your water will be crystal clear.
