Seachem Purigen Organic Filtration Resin - Fresh and Saltwater 100 ml

Excellent for organic filtering in both fresh and salt water. Comes in a mesh bag that keeps the Purigen beads in while blocking out debris, and is easy to rinse as needed. This product allows for more leeway in aquarium maintenance than many other filtering products. It does well in keeping the water clear and free of foam. Easy to tell when it is exhausted by the change in color. Its a good idea to have spares on hand to help maintain proper cycle while regenrating an exhausted set

I absolutely love purigen! I use it on all 6 of my tanks. I first discovered it when setting up my first reef tank, and never looked back. Nitrates and phosphates undetectable in all my tanks. This will not replace a protein skimmer but it complements it wonderfully. My favorite part is that you can regenerate it when ever it gets exhausted. I do find it takes more bleach than recommended when its really dark and DO NOT use a scented bleach! Original Clorox works best Ive found, and seachem prime to dechlorinate as some other dechlorinators can stain it brown permanently and then its hard to tell when its time to regenerate.

I was having major clouding issues. I had tried many products including Clarity just to name a few. I decided to try Purigen. I did make the mistake of not rinsing it enough, all I can say is to rinse it very well. When I first introduced it to the tank, it made the water even more cloudy. Have patience, after 5 days the water is the clearest water Ive ever seen in an aquarium. Anyway, dont write reviews very often but felt compelled to do so as my aquarium is crystal clear thanks to Purigen.

Seachem has created yet another great product. I use one of these in a 30 gallon tank with a lot of driftwood. It does an amazing job of keeping the water crystal clear and free of tannin discoloration. I replace it once a month. This is not an exchange resin, so you can use it over and over. The beauty of this product is that you can re-charge it by cleaning it in a chlorine bath for 24 hours. Clear the chlorine using Seachmen Prime only! The directions are clear, and you can see many examples of the cleaning process on YouTube. I use two bags. One in my filter, and one that I clean..Thus I can swap a clean bag each time I clean my filter. Keep the clean Purigen bag wet between uses. I just put it in a Tupperware container with water. It really is an amazing product.

Stuff is fantastic! I removed my carbon filter and left just the regular spongy filter.. within 24 hours it will clear up my tank, after a water change, and helps keep the ammonia down.. I have yet to rejuvenate it.. ( in the process of it, but am afraid it will put too much chlorine in the tank) so it does get a little expensive.. and does not last as long as it claims.. Only works for about 2 weeks.. But I also have a new tank. so well established tanks, it might work longer.... so for me it can get expensive.. But it makes the water so clear.. I love it! but think in the future I will go bulk with it...

Recently discovered this Purigen stuff from online discussions because I always seemed to have nitrate problems. Upon using Purigen I notice my nitrates are almost non-existent! But this is also in part that I do frequent water changes and make sure to vacuum the substrate. I can see how this Purigen will help you reduce frequent water changes if your tank is not overstocked. But if you do have an overstocked tank, definitely use this stuff & keep up your regular maintenance if you want your fish to thrive for the long run :) My fish are doing friggin awesome thanks to this stuff, I highly recommend it. Thanks Seachem for inventing such an amazing product.

Does what I got it for. Removes the brown. Plunk it in your filter basket. Easy as pie. I regenerated twice (a bit of a pain, but it’s nice to have the option - I hate single use products)

Really made a huge difference with my Axolotl tank. I have 2 HOBS and put this in one and next day crystal clear water and it’s staying that way. This is one of the best aquarium products I’ve purchased. Will buy again.

Like many people, I was confused when I received this product because it was very different to what I usually purchase in the store. The mesh bag was longer and and the package it came in was a lot larger. After seeing many 1-2 star reviews claiming the product was counterfeit, I decided to reach out directly to Seachem. Heres what they said: We did briefly try out a a new bagging method for the Purigen packs. However, we have since gone back to the older version. It is not counterfeit! Simply a change from Seachem. Since it is online however, there is no telling whether you will receive the original size or this trial change. For people who expect specific dimensions this could be inconvenient. To sum up, I managed to accommodate for the different sized bag, and needless to say it is working just as spectacularly as I remember Purity working.

I found the most difficult information to retrieve was if this product works as well when you have a planted tank. I tested myself and I can say that after two weeks my plants still growing without any sign of nutrient deficiency. I really waned to give this product 5 stars. However, Ive been told that it does not much more compared to a carbon filter (which I never used so I personally cannot compared). I really like it tho, and I really suggest it to buy if you dont like to mess with carbon filter and replace it every 2-3 weeks. As the product say it absorbs all the organic compound in the water. I have some piece of drift wood in my tank, and the water was starting to get pretty cloudy. I insert the media in the filter and after 12 hours I could see the magical difference. The water got incredibly clear. After a week the nitrogen level went down to zero (I had NO3 at about 15ppm). The down side is that my starting water was pretty cloudy (my fault), and the product absorbed a lot of it. After two weeks the bag looks pretty brown. I think I will have to do the cleaning process pretty soon. I will wait until the bag turn completely brown, or the water start to look cloudy again.The company claim that which 100ml you can use it for up to 100 gallons for about 4 to 6 months. I think is a little bit over estimating the range. I read several review that do not trust the cleaning process using bleach, and then soak it with de-chlorinator, I will update my review once I do a cleaning cycle. Other than that I recommended this product to two of my friend that have nitrogen or cloudy water. And If it was the case I would definitely buy it again. Update 4-8-13: I have the filter in place for almost 2 month, and it still keep the water clear. My tank is currently overstock, and I have no issues at all with water quality. I did not have to replace any filter cartridge. And I have not done the regeneration process. Great product. Update 4-24-13: I was starting to get the water little bit cloudy, so I decided to do the famous regeneration process. As soon as I dip it into the bleach/water solution it turned incredibly white. I let it soak for 24 hours, then took it out and soak in the Prime/water solution for 8 hours. After I took it out it didnt smell like chlorine at all. I wasnt sure so I dip it into some water for a bit, and test the water. Zero chlorine at the end. I place it back in the filter. There are few companies out there that make really good products for aquarium. Seachem is one of the best and one that you can always trust. You get your money worth on any of their products.
