Seachem Purigen Organic Filtration Resin - Fresh and Saltwater 100 ml

I added this to my turtle tank due to the fact I was constantly battling cloudy and green water as well as high Nitrate levels. From what I read 100ml is enough to treat 100 gallons. I was running a 55 gal turtle tank but these are notable more dirty than fish. Eventually I added a few more packets and currently have 500ml total in my filters. I can say that the tank is clearer than Ive ever seen it. I find that I am not battling every day with cloudiness and having to do constant water changes. This may be a bit overkill for the tank but I figure you cannot really over do the amount of purgien you run and this will allow some overlap while I regenerate other packets and get a rotation set up. As a final note Nitrate levels are still running higher than I would like and I will post and update after running this for a few more weeks

Really great product. The water in my aquarium was tea colored and this product cleared the water significantly in 24 hours.

I put off buying this for over a long time, even though it was praised many times in fish keeping groups that I belong to. My thinking was that my fish tanks water is very clear. I do weekly water changes and regular maintenance. I thought this stuff was pretty pricey and that I did not need it. Guess what? I was amazed by the difference once I broke down and bought just one tiny bag of Purigen. It made my tank look like gel it was so clear the fish appear to be suspended in air or something. The water is pristine. I now use several bags in my canister filter and a single bag in my smaller tanks. It can be regenerated very easily and I have several bags that I have regenerated at least a dozen times and they still works just like new. I trust the Seachem brand and also use Prime with every water change. Add Flourish once a week for beautiful live plants and I add ParaGuard any time new fish are introduced to one of my tanks.

I bought this purely to remove the tannins in my tank water that the driftwood secretes (and that causes my water to look like tea). it comes in a 100mL bag for is good for 100gal tank I believe it says. my tank isnt not even half that size (plus the bag it came in wouldnt fit right in my filter) so I cut open the packet (which you can put in your filter as is if itll fit) and put half of it in a ladys knee-high, cut off the excess and plopped it into my filter. I saved the other half so that I can switch it out when I need to regenerate the one in current use. this is the first time my water has been clear/clear of tannins for months (and by months I mean literally like 7 months). great product. id buy this again!

I had lost 2 little Pandas for no apparent reason. Water parameters were good, weekly water changes, etc. Like they were dying off one by one.Id notice Id be missing one, they seem to hide when they dont feel well. Then theyre gone. They were always more playful right after a water change for a day or two, then hiding again. So Ive always used Prime and Stress Guard so I got the Purigen to try. It seems to have done the trick. They are really active and out almost all the time, even playing with the Betta. Could be some chemical in the water affecting them. Even bottled water had the same effect. So far so good. Water is crystal clear.

Not much luck with this product bought it twice, first time I’m not sure if it worked, most recently it came and started letting little white pellets out, not worth it imo

My first purchase of the bag with the purigen was great, however this new bag broke open at the seam after a week of use. Luckily I noticed the little beads before I hooked my filter back up. I tried to melt the bag back together but it did not work. Luckily I had some zip ties to close the bag back up. The product however does seem to work well. I have two turtles in a 55 gallon tank, with a Sun Sun canister filter, and put the purigen in the top basket. My original bag turned tea colored brown in about 3 months, so I ordered another bag as a back up for when Im recharging. The recharging for me also took two soaks in bleach to get the bag back to its original color.

I originally jumped the gun on reviewing this product. When I originally put my tank together I used this with carbon, so I didnt truly appreciate its capability. After taking out the purigen I noticed that, with the tank in the same location with the same lighting and heat, the tank started showing signs of algae build-up and discoloration of my decor. Not instantaneously mind you, but normal tank coloration and algae that would accumulate over time. Well it was pointed out to me that I may have been too hasty in removing the purigen and my assumption that it didnt do that much more than simply having carbon. I cleaned out my tank and did a 50% water change, and completely replaced my carbon with purigen. My tank is once again crystal clear, like I filled it up with bottled water or something. The tank definitely has a healthier feel to it. I was worried about it being a safe environment to spend any real money on cool fish, but I have since put in some unique fish and invertebrates, and they seem to be very happy and healthy in the tank. I regret jumping the gun, but sometimes you just dont realize what youve got until its gone! Now that Ive actually been witness to such a dramatic change in my tanks environment, I would, and have been, recommend this to any fish lover.

Definitely cleared up the tank but I discovered a .5 break in the bag along the seam when I removed it for its first recharge. Would explain why I had a fair amount of the media get away when I rinsed it and then media getting in the tank when I installed it. Recharging, while not difficult, literally takes days so youll probably need multiple bags and store them damp after they have been used. Allowing them to dry out after first use causes issues with the media.

When I saw the product I had my doubts... A little white bag would work better than the usual methods? Well, in less than 48hrs, CRISTAL CLEAR water in the tank! 5+ stars
