Seachem Purigen Organic Filtration Resin - Fresh and Saltwater 100 ml

Use this in my aquarium. It has made the water crystal clear. Buy two, so when one is exhausted, you have one to put in the aquarium while you recharge the first.

Before this my water always turned green within a few days of a water change, even with a UV filter. I saw this product recommended on the Reddit aquarium group. Got it along with an Aqua Clear filter, within a day my water had no tint at all! Ive removed the UV filter and weeks later, the water is still clear. This product comes in the bag -- all I had to do was replace the carbon bag that came with the filter with this one.

I have used Purigen for years and it works 10+x better than the best charcoal/carbon products that I have used. Although it is a bit of a pain to regenerate, I wait till I have 8 or more packets follow their directions, and for a couple of $ they are almost like new. I have done this a couple of times now and they still work. Warning !! Always use other seachem products with it especially water conditioners as some slime coat products will foul purigen lost a few packets that way. I like almost all their products any way. From their support forum: The problem with Purigen and slime coat products occurs in the regeneration of Purigen. After using bleach to remove the organics you then soak the Purigen in a dechlorinator to remove the chlorine bleach. Many companies that have a slime coat enhancer in their products use an amine based polymer. That amine can attach to the chlorine creating chloramine. Chloramine is rather stable and can kill your fish when added to the aquarium. A product such as Prime or ChlorGuard will remove the chlorine and does not have any amine based polymer.

Put a large piece of driftwood in my 29 gallon aquarium and it turned water a amber color I tried boiling the wood over and over and it really did not help much so I read about this put it in with my carbon filter and the water was clear overnight all my water parameters have been perfect this stuff works very well and I will always use.

i have been using this product for years, find that it works best of any additive media, plus it is easy to recharge - lowering the cost. i put in in the two hang on filters on my 70 gallon. sits between the filter media and water exit. this last order i got two narrower rectangular bags as opposed to the square shape i had been using - could not find them. the new bags also have seams down the middle on one side, old ones are sealed on one of the edges. the seam catches more stuff and the bags overall do not appear to provide a very good water flow through vs the older style. as a result it actually takes twice as long, in the same filters, to discolor, an indication it is working, and much of the center particles are still white. the filter mesh itself seems to clog up quickly. since it comes in a sealed foil pouch i must assume it is a manufacturing change. too bad, it is another product changed for the worse as it simply does not work as well.

Once again Seachem has blown me away with another one of their products. I own a 30-gallon HOB filter, and I actually managed to get the packet of purigen to fit alongside my other filter media. Purigen reduced the cloudiness in my 20 gallon long tank SIGNIFICANTLY! I couldnt believe it! Purigen is also safe to use with axolotls, which is great for axie owners such as myself. My ammonia levels are at a minimum as well. Overall, Im both thoroughly impressed and ecstatic with the results that Purigen has provided me. I cant stop looking at my tank because of how how good it looks.

I recently acquired a 55 gal tank with 2 Plecos, a Cory and 2 juvenile Oscars! The Oscars are food hogs (they remind me of my dogs!), so Im constantly messing around with the HOB filters, water testing, etc. I went to a local fish store for general advice and they recommended a Seachem product called Prime [[ASIN:B0002568S6 Seachem Prime 250ml] for tank setup and water changes, so while looking on Amazon for filtration items I noticed Purigen and all the glowing reviews. I ordered it, it arrived very promptly (thanks Amazon Prime!), I rinsed it, put in one of the HOBs and the next morning my water was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-L-Y C-L-E-A-R!!! Matter of fact, I was honestly shocked that it was so clear, as I thought it was already clear! Today is day 2 and again water still clear! I did make 1 small mistake in that I ordered The Bag but when they both arrived I saw that this order of Purigen was already contained in a very fine mesh bag....silly me for not paying attention before ordering. Anyway, do your fish a BIG FAVOR and get this NOW~! I promise you wont regret it! Ill review again in a month or so....just to let ya know if its still a stellar product, or not~

Recently discovered this Purigen stuff from online discussions because I always seemed to have nitrate problems. Upon using Purigen I notice my nitrates are almost non-existent! But this is also in part that I do frequent water changes and make sure to vacuum the substrate. I can see how this Purigen will help you reduce frequent water changes if your tank is not overstocked. But if you do have an overstocked tank, definitely use this stuff & keep up your regular maintenance if you want your fish to thrive for the long run :) My fish are doing friggin awesome thanks to this stuff, I highly recommend it. Thanks Seachem for inventing such an amazing product.

This stuff is great, but just know if you select the 500 ml size you will also need to buy their bag or one that is 180 micron or less. Has to be a very fine bag, like the one Seachem will sell to you. Just one complaint, misleading as the smaller sizes come with the bag. I still give it 5 starts since there isnt anything out there like it that I know of that can polish your aquarium water any better.

Those stubborn nitrates were rising and I tried so many things. I didnt know about cycling my tank and my turtles were suffering in the waiting process. This stuff is amazing. The nitrate level went down almost completely in two days and still lowering. I cant recommend this enough for turtle keepers.
