Sennheiser HD 600 - Audiophile Hi-Res Open Back Dynamic Headphone

I have been a Sennheiser fan for many years and still have the Sennheiser 414s from the 70s (and they still sound great). I wanted a good headphone to go with my Rotel RX-1050 receiver/amplifier because it reproduces sound so beautifully. In the Sennheiser 600s I got what I wanted and then some. They are a sheer listening pleasure. As other reviewers have mentioned, they do not work well with a portable CD player and would need an amp to perform properly. They are execellent with a good home stereo but they do let you hear exactly what is on your source, so with lower quality equipment, they will sound only as good as your stuff (garbage in, garbage out -- dont blame the 600s). These earphones are the best I have ever listened to. They are a joy to use. They fit reasonably comfortably but could get warm with prolonged use. Overall they are an excellent addition to any audiophiles equipment. My only (minor) gripe is the rather flimsy cable that comes standard. I am thinking of purchasing the Equinox cable (which has gotten excellent reviews) or making my own custom cable to further enchance the sound of these wonderful cans.

I returned these headphones they were not really for me. They are quite plastic, the leads are of poor quality and I feel resentful paying out for replacement leads. The sound was very neutral, but to be honest I think I much prefer my Fidelio X2 in terms of sound, comfort, and build quality and overall value for money.

Love these headphones, the comfort is unparalleled and the sound is extraordinary. I only wish I bought an amplifier at the same time so I could better hear them on my phone.

Amazing product, although I guess thats not a surprise since theyre still around after so long. Some people may think the bass is a little low but its more than enough for me, it plays a great representation of highs mids and lows in my opinion

This is after it worked fine for just over 18 months. Now it has become useless and I am forced to throw it out.

Yes still going strong after 10 years of usage. Very clear natural sound works equally with iPad and hifi system. After all this time however did have to invest in refurbishment - Foam pads are essentially gone, the ear lining has disintegrated and had to get a new cable as the contacts were loose. In total $80 but this will probably last another 7-10 years. The open air design is very comfortable and I use these for hours without fatigue. There are better closed headphones out there, from a hi-fidelity perspective, but at this price point and design I dont thing anything beats it. Also these are far far superior to the HD580, which I had previously.

Absolutely incredible. Im a big headphone fanatic, spent a lot over the years. These take some getting used to at first, but the clarity and space is so perfect for music production mixing, it has utterly transformed my mixes to elite levels. Playing back on other systems sounds better now, as this is an amazing surgical tool for fixing the mix and mastering. Buy them without any hesitation, highly recommend. I pair them with Magni and Modi DAC and AMP
