> 3 dayNo other headphones Ive ever used have had such smooth, crystal-clear accuracy. Ive been using these for a few years now, and no others have been such a joy to use. Theyre lightweight and no-nonsense.

06-04-2025After researching and reading about 10 different high end headphones priced between $200 & $900 and trying out a pair of Audio Technica M50s, I decided to go with the Sennheiser HD650s. I first listened to Sennheiser headphones in the 1970’s in Germany and I was impressed then. Time and technology have made them even better! If you are looking for a sound that is not overly basey but still has plenty of base with midrange and high frequencies that are superb, then these fit the bill. I was impressed with their comfort and lightness. They were not hot or smothering. I have used them plugged directly into a DAC and or a preamp. In all cases they were impressive. But what I think was most enjoyable was using them in conjunction with a Dragonfly portable DAC and playing my music library from my iphone. Not that you have to use a DAC/Amp to use the 650s with your iphone, it’s just the improvement the DAC provides over the built in iphone DAC. I wish that Sennheiser provided a shorter cable as well as the 10 foot bulky cable that it ships with. Fortunately, they are available through other vendors that work with the 650s. I found a nice 4 foot light weight cable that works perfectly when traveling or listening in bed etc. The OEM cable is just too long and unwieldy unless you are permanently anchored to your stereo! Sennheiser, if you are reading this, include a second shorter cable in the box. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. Overall, I am very happy with these headphones and what you get for the price.

> 3 dayIve had both side by side and they the same in terms of build and sound quality with slight branding differences. I still like my Hd650 but its annoying to see senheiser still selling these for so much when they sell them for less through drop.

> 3 daySeriously, if youre even slightly considering buying these, buy them. I have never had so much fun listening to music in my life. They are incredibly clear and the frequency response is phenomenal. Ive been using them hours a day, almost everyday, for the last year and they show absolutely no sign of wear or degradation. They sound just as jaw-dropping when I listened to them for the first time. They are open back, so best not to wear these in public as everyone near you will hear what youre listening to. But seriously, buy these now.

> 3 dayIf you want a high end product reasonably priced... thats it! I would not say that there are no better headphones in the market, yes i have tested some fine headphones they left me realy astonished. STAX electrostatic, Grado, Jeclin Float, to name some. Yes! if you are ready to pay 5 to 10 times the price of these fine headphones you will probably get something exraordinary, but the HD650 are so good that the distance from the perfection wanted, is so small.. and the deference of the price so big...its up to you to decide. Myself i am very happy with the HD650
