> 3 dayPhew, it has been a nervy couple of days.I am by no means an audiophile but do enjoy good music. I got the hd650 after thoroughly enjoying my hd558 and hd598SE. i had read so many good reviews about these cans that i just had to get them. I almost freaked out when i listened to them for the first time straight out of the box. They sounded almost terrible. They sure had detail, but sound separation was just not there. Highs sounded shrill and there was almost no bass.My hd 558 definitely sounded better albeit with less detail. I had heard these cans need a fair amount of burn in to sound their best(even though i was a bit skeptical about this whole burn-in concept). i therefore hooked them up to my lovers rock playlist and let them play almost non-stop for three days. After this period, i listened to them to check for improvements, but found no noticeable difference.Decided to burn them in another three days, and they are now a completely new headset with crisp deep bass as well as clear mids and highs.I definitely do believe in burn-in now. I know it is not a case of me getting used to the sound signature because i only listened to it 30mins at the beginning and about another 30mins after initial 3days.i am giving it 4 stars for the stress i had to go through for them to sound good and the fact it can be a bit difficult expanding the size of the headband (feels stiff and you have to use considerable force).

> 3 dayAfter using my Grado RS1e set for a few years I decided to try the 650s hearing they were a bit more comfy/ They are more comfy but they sound great also. The Grados are hard to beat but tend to be a tad in your face so to speak. The 650s are more detailed and you can pick out each individual instrument better. Overall I now prefer them but if needed could go back to the Gtados and be quite happy. These are the cream of the crop.

> 3 dayI bought these for my son who composes music using pro tools. He LOVES them. He says they are comfortable to wear for a long time and the sound is great.

> 3 dayGreat sounding headphones!. As we know HP are subjective to ones listening taste. Wanted a pair that were not too clinical and flat, last thing i wanted was to come home after a hard day and start an analytical listening session. Went through a lot of pairs before these ranging from Senny RS165 blutooth, a pair of Sony MDR1 and another Sony blutooth , Audio Technica MSR 7 which were good but occasionaly peaked the higher frequencies too much for me at my age 40+, set of grados (couldnt justify the price). All these fell short apart from the Sennheiser HD650s which gave the best return on cost comfort and my listening signature.

> 3 dayIncredibly flat, honest sound. I check all my mixes & do my mastering with these now. Theyll show you how much color other headphones add to your music. Super comfortable too.

Greater than one weekGreat Headphones. The clamp was larger than expected, but I was able to stretch out the headband a little. Bass is tight and the highs being rolled off a little is great coming from a beyer DT-990 pro with piercing highs. Love the HD650 and would definitely recommend them for a mid price headphone.
