Love the features in the app. You can label rooms, map out “no-go” areas. You can set it up to empty when it’s full, even if it’s in the middle of a cleaning; if the battery runs low in the middle of a cleaning, it will return to the base to charge and pick up where it left off as soon as it’s charged. Very hands off! The only down side is you can only select specific rooms if you manually start. You can’t set a schedule by room. I would love to run it every day and do certain rooms on certain days. But in the scheduler, you can’t choose certain rooms, but a time and it’s runs all of the rooms.

As I noted in the headline, this is our third robot vacuum, as our Deebot 920 developed yet another issue with its lidar system and I finally gave up trying to fix it. I have been wanting to get something that had self empty, no mopping, and no bags. Which lead me to get this Shark AI. First some pros: The initial mapping went very quickly, and when it was done generating the map, accuracy was good. Seems to have taken the no-go zones I created to heart Battery life is solid, and its a major step up from my old machine with the Nickel metal hydride battery. Lasts longer and recharges faster Auto empty works! We have a giant German Shepherd whose shedding season never stops, which with the old vacuums meant that Id have to empty the bin halfway through the main living area, then again another half hour later. The auto empty bin keeps me from forgetting which keeps the machine cleaning decently. Noise is fine, about the same as my old Deebot, maybe a touch quieter. Except of course, when the auto-empty bin kicks off which is to be expected as it needs to get everything out fast! It uses a (mostly) logical path for cleaning, but this also falls into the cons which Ill talk about as well. Doing single high traffic rooms is easy. Build quality seems fine, nothing bad to say. Latches seem solid to start anyway. There are some cons however. Given that this machine is several years newer, Im baffled as to why it doesnt have any kind of progress that shows on the map. My old Deebot would dutifully record and report where it was via the app at all times. Which is really nice when you are cleaning the rest of the house along with him- that way you know whether or not you can mop an area. This seems like a basic gimme that Shark is really missing. Brushes are singles rather than triples. It does mean that Ive seen a bit of missed stuff where my old machine seemed to pick it up just fine. Vacuum power with any of these is not going to be like an upright, so with that expectation set, it does not seem to do as good of a job as the old deebot on the two area rugs. Which is okay, as I usually hit them with the upright from time to time anyway, but max power should at least get it as good I would expect, which it doesnt. Paths, although logical, are really oddly decided by the bot. The older machine would do a perimeter path, then start in a corner and work its way out. This guy goes right through the middle of the room and then starts going off and doing sections, which seems to take longer. He also tends to get confused a bit more under chairs and with some obstacles. So overall, are any of the cons a deal breaker? Not for me at this point, they are mostly just annoyances, although the lack of progress on the map almost made me pack it up and send it back. The auto empty covers a lot of sins, and for the price point compared to other auto empty models, it seems to be a pretty solid performer so far. Id give it 3.5 stars overall- if they update the mapping to show progress, I might well bump it up.

I have two of these that I’ve been using for a few months now, and they work pretty well for the most part. The initial set up was easy and it created a pretty accurate map from the start. The app is also intuitive and easy to use. The robots themselves navigate well and rarely get stuck. The self emptying base is also pretty nice and I like that it doesnt need bags. They follow the set schedules quite well too. Some things could be better unfortunately. The actual suction power on the bots doesn’t seem to be enough, and the dust filters on the bots get clogged very fast even with it set to empty the dustbin every 30mins. If I don’t clean the filters every 2-3 runs the bots lose suction completely which isn’t ideal. The no-go zones don’t seem to work too well either. The bots only respect the no-go zones on some runs but not all. They also seem to disregard them when they are navigating to new areas. For example if I tell it to do a spot clean somewhere and there is a no-go zone in the way, they often just run straight through the no-go zone on the way to the designated spot clean area. It will then respect the no-go zone while cleaning, but on the way back to the base it will just run straight through it again. Over all the no-go zones are just very inconsistent, which makes it hard to keep them out of trouble spots. Overall I think they are decent, when they are on sale they are a pretty good deal. I just wish the no-go zones worked properly.

I havent had my Shark robot long, but its put in a lot of hours in a short time. I have dogs, a dirt yard and my own hair has been known to kill old-version robot vacuums in no time. Based on the notifications I must not be the only one. If you forget to check the wheels for hair, no worries, the shark will stop vacuuming and let you know when its time to clean the hair out of the wheels. The spinning wheel pops right out and is easy to clean and the spinning brush has a door making it easy to remove and clean the hair out of. It also lets you know when the bin is full, so no stress about forgetting to check it. My expectations for the mop were pretty low. How much scrubbing power can this thing really put into my floors? I was pleasantly surprised. It did better than expected. Yes, I will have to mop myself, but this is great for in-between mops. The vacuum works well on hard floors and is pretty decent on carpets. It picks up short dog hair well but sometimes drags longer hair across the carpet. Im not complaining, I wake up to carpet lines and clean floors every day and I only have physically push a vacuum once a week now. Worth every cent!

Overall: For fur-shedding pet owners - This is a great option to keep the day-to-day fur buildup under control, but does not substitute for deep cleaning, and does require removing excess fur buildup on the brushes and rollers every 3-5 days. Let me set the stage: We have two long-haired golden retrievers and they shed a massive amount of fur. We have a mix of hardwood and carpets and if we dont vacuum for a few days we start getting fur-tumbleweeds. We thought we would give this Shark Robot vacuum a try and overall I am very pleased with it. The AI technology is very impressive. It mapped out our 2,200 sq ft single story home in about 25 minutes and didnt even need to run around all of the edges in the space to map out details like island counters, couches, table legs, etc. Since then it has run once per day and we have noticed a significant shift in the amount of fur we are seeing on the floors. It takes about 90 minutes to run through the approved 1,200 sq ft vacuum space in the house. It transitions from hardwood to carpet and over doorways without issue. Im shocked at how it can navigate under side tables and couches that have as little as 1/4 clearance on top/sides! It has ventured into rooms when doors are left open that it wasnt mapped to go into on occasion, which is my only knock on it. As expected, I have to flip it over and cut the dog fur thats wrapped around the brushes out every 3-5 days. If we didnt have pets with long fur I cant imagine Id ever have to do this and have had to clean fur from brushes on even the most expensive or regular vacuums. This so far (after 1 month) has been well worth the investment!

As others have stated, I have a German shepherd and have a shark vac for pets but this is daily chore. Since my 2 uprights are bagless and no-tangle Brushroll I thought Id try this av2501ae after a LOT of research. I had a blind eufy that when it didnt get stuck really helped with pet hair but required daily cleaning and Brushroll detangling. I have used this for several cleans and no hair tangles and it says 60 days but at first it filled 1/4 on one clean. Using daily has brought it to 7 days to fill. Pros- gets up all the hair/dirt and I have not had to vacuum since, 10 days so far. Covers everything after it mapped the house. Ignored the 3 ft on either side and 5 ft in front and placed the unit under an end table next to the couch out of sight, mainly since my dog kept stepping on the old eufy. Has worked fine there and always finds it way home. It is doing its job as expected. Rarely bumps into anything but sometimes seems like its a little lost but always does what advertised. May be my crappy internet..App has been no problem. I like that I can send it to any room/rooms, or whole house. It has a little trouble getting over wood strip between hard wood and tile but keeps trying and gets over it and keeps going where it was supposed to go. Has not gotten stuck since no -go set properly. Cons- took 2 times to map correctly and took some trial and error to set no-go zones, but once I got it, it works perfectly. Should probably remap one more time. The roller seemed to get a little louder BUT ordered non-oem replacement filters and brush roll on amazon and that roller is cleaning as good as factory and much more quiet. Cant verify its durabilty but for the price, who cares. Its taller than my eufy so it will not go under my couch but as great as it cleans, Ill move the couch. Besides, running this daily, pet hair and dust under controll, have only moved the couch once in 10 days with a 10th of the usual dust and hair. Glad I upgraded to a lidar vacuum and I dont care that I cant watch it progress real-time as others have knocked it for. I can hear where it is and takes 20 min per room and does 1000sq ft in 45 min of hardwood and tile. Unless you are anal retentive it works advertised and CLEANS..

    Greater than one week

I used to get irritated when my kids would come out to my office and get dirt and grass all over my floor. The Robo-Shark has brought peace back into my heart like only a shark can. haha I would buy again. Just an FYI, it is a maintenance cleaner. Youll still have to vacuum the corners and edges of the room manually. Overall though its a great lil vacuum.

Great technology and will limit how much you use the full size vacuum, depending on traffic patterns and pets. However the Shark App is buggy and the app support is poor; called on a Thursday, the level one person could not resolve a registration problem, it is now Tuesday night and have yet to hear from Shark... Without the app you can use the robot but would asssume it was designed to learn via AI which would greatly improve what the vacuum can do through learning.... I will report back after Shark support gets the app working..., overall the technology is still emerging but is still impressive but comes at a high price. Cant wait to see were appliance robot technology is in a couple of years.

I purchased this on an impulse because it was on sale. I set it up and hit the clean button and it far exceeded (in a positive way) the job it did cleaning! Unfortunately it was down hill from there. The unit went back to the docking station, recharged and then had a #9 bin error. I ejected the dust bin out of the robot and replaced it and it again did a great job vacuuming but after the next recharge, same error. I called Shark customer service and here is the shot version of the drama that ensued: 1. first agent with very poor English (Ive worked extensively overseas and am usually able to understand even thick accents but this was barely comprehensible at times) sent me a link to be able to view the robot through the camera on my phone. She had me dock the unit and since it did that and started vacuuming again she declared it cured, gave me a case number, and signed off. 2. after completing the vacuuming cycle (about an hour until battery needs recharge) it recharged and same dust bin error 9 message. I called back in and got another agent with nearly incomprehensible English skills who started the same routine of diagnostic steps with me but after getting to the Im going to send you a link to access your camera so I can see the error she went radio silent, line connected but no body home. Mind you it took 15 minutes on hold to get to an agent and another 15 of diagnostics to get to this point. 1/2 hour wasted. 3. called in a 3rd time, 3rd agent I couldnt understand, and same diagnostic routine. At the 45 minute mark in the conversation she said, ok it looks like its the same as with the first agent so well need to send you a new robot. Great... I thought. She takes all my information and then says I forgot to tell you, the warranty is limited and youre responsible for the $25 shipping of the replacement! I protested, she checked with her supervisor and got the shipping waved. She then informed me that this unit is not in stock so it will be 2-3 weeks before I should expect a replacement via FedEx. The only good part of the experience is that agent 3 realized her English wasnt good so rather than try to have me spell out my address she just had me write it down on a piece of paper and point the camera on my phone at it so that she could take it down. Pretty good idea really.

I have mixed feelings about this robot, who we named Hank (you are supposed to name him for the app). I find him to be quieter than a regular vacuum, and the suction in normal mode is very good. Our carpets and hardwood floors get very clean. However, he seems to suffer from some form of dementia. We have had him map our very small 1-story home twice, have labeled the rooms that we want cleaned. He starts out great. Does the living room, moves on to the bedroom, and begins the kitchen. So far so good. At around this point he goes back to the dock to empty himself. He then returns to where he was in the kitchen.....and then quits the kitchen and meanders into the living room and goes back over a section he has already done, wanders over by the front door and spends a minute or two going over that area again, goes in circles for a short time, and returns to do the kitchen again. About 10 minutes after emptying, he apparently remembers that there is a dining room. He does the dining room. He then returns to the living room for the third time and moves with a lack of pattern over areas he has already done twice. He may revisit the kitchen for a third time. Left alone, he will eventually return to the dock and be done, but we get tired of avoiding him (if we stand in front of him he apparently thinks his map now has a new wall, and he is clueless enough without adding that) and we just say ok good enough Hank, and instruct him via the app to go back to the dock and stop. This robot would likely work well if he were run while nobody was home so he can backtrack and circle and redo till his battery runs out (assuming he doesnt have some sort of error code at some point). I am not sure what the AI in his name refers to, but the I is presumably not for intelligence. I might suggest looking elsewhere.

The Shark AI Robot Self-Empty combines the latest innovations for a whole-home clean you can"t get from any other robot. Features include: Shark"s patented suction power; AI Laser Navigation for precision cleaning and object avoidance; UltraClean Mode for targeted deep cleaning; and a HEPA 60-day-capacity base that"ll keep your home"s air free of dust and allergens with every clean.
