> 3 dayI had a ball winder from a large online knitting retailer prior to this one, and I thought it was fine, although as it aged, I got more and more frustrated every time I wanted to wind a hank of yarn. I just figured that was to be expected - who enjoys winding yarn? But this one is amazing! The cakes are consistent; the winding is smooth and effortless. Its really a pleasure to wind yarn now... as long as the hank isnt tangled.

> 3 dayThis is a great product. I was iffy about the price since I would never spend that much on a tool.. however there are very few products that offer jumbo size yarn winding. It took me a while to get used to the winding, but it doesnt really get tangled up and the finished product is amazing. I even used my thickest velvet yarn and it spun beautifully. wonderful and 100% recommend

> 3 dayI really love this winder but it has one bug flaw the tension part never gets tight enough so you cant just constantly go with out either holding on the the tension piece or going super slow. I really wish this would of had a better way of holding the tension piece so it doesnt move every five seconds.

> 3 daylove Love LOVE this winder. I can not believe I have gone over 40 years of knitting and crocheting without this little gem. WELL worth the investment. Now off to find a comparable swift!

> 3 dayBought as a gift for my wife and loves it. Shes wound nearly 100 balls already and continues to work like a charm. Metal components coupled with nylon gears will lend to a nice long life. The ball is tight and easy to pull the string from the middle w/o yanking the ball around while knitting. Its higher priced compared to other all plastic, but not as expensive as many others out there. Invest the extra $20-30 to get something that will last years longer than anything of plastic.

> 3 dayWorks but kind of flimsy. I dont expect this to hold out too long but I dont wind very much yarn so it fits my needs.

> 3 dayIm concerned about in the long run with plastic gears but so far ran regular yarn and bulky yarn through it no problem. Will make 1 ball out of 3 skeins of Caron supersoft brand.

Greater than one weekIts like a clunky powerhouse and the reel that swivels around the cone is odd to get used to at first, but this thing makes the tidiest monster cakes and it does so easily. I feel like it will last forever. I got this for my wife and she already balled up over 40 skeins of differing fibers. She said it took a second to get used to it and get the rhythm of it down, but then she was hooked. We looked at the super fancy ones like the big wooden Nancys Knit Knacks winder. In the end, the NKK made some beautiful, fluffier, rounder yarn balls, BUT what the Stanwood winder lacks in beauty and fluffiness it more than makes up for in its ability to make tidy, dense, cakes. Yarn cakes are better than yarn balls IMHO. Good winder Stanwood, thanks!
