This thing is so easy to use. So sturdy and easy to set up and take down. I cant imagine it ever breaking as long as its taken care of and stored well. I am SO glad I spent the extra money and didnt waste time and effort on the less expensive smaller ones.

Best out yet. I think I have had 4 different winders. By far this is the best out there. Makes really nice cakes. Only draw back if you pull from the middle it makes the cakes fall in it self. Smooth i can turn it with 2 fingers.

Love it! Easy to put together, easy to use and has made storing my yarn so much more compact!

I crochet a lot and my yarn stash is huge. I splurged one day on a winder from JoAnns. It was the only one they had, and it was electric. Big mistake! You still have to help feed it and the loud motor stalled frequently. When I upgraded to this hand crank model, I was instantly impressed. It is easy to use, quiet and quick!

It’s okay for 8ozs of yarn

I was doing several projects using bulky or super bulky yarns so I needed a ball winder that would handle them. Getting the yarn through the guides is easy enough but the yarn doesnt stay in the spindle groove to start and I always start winding the wrong way, so it takes me several tries to get wraps going right. Once I do, however, its speedy and fun. It is noisy. I helps to either hold down the support rod with one hand or put something under it to dampen the racket.

I watched the video of this Stanwood winder from Rockiesgal on this site and decided to go for this more expensive winder. At first I had looked for spindles, but did not like what I saw nor the idea of them. As I looked at yarn winders for my skeins I saw this more expensive winder and decided this was what I needed.

Works great! I had another brand some years ago and sold it when I wasnt doing much with fibers anymore. Sure enough....now back to spinning and knitting and was tired of the small ball winder. I have been very happy with this ball winder.

This unit is priced much closer to the bottom of the class but performs like the top of class. How can you beat that?
