Very sturdy, but it does not come with enough screws to put something in every slot.

The network cables in my apartment terminate an a fairly awkward spot for a desk or a shelf, but its a decent position for an end table. I bought this rack (and the LACK table from ikea if anyone else want to do something similar) for that purpose and it works very well. However, this 8U rack only comes with 6U worth of mounting hardware. I could not find that information in the text areas of the product page, but the last picture does say that only 24 sets of the nuts and bolts come with it. I have to take one star off because the BOM should be prominently listed on the page. The product description says that the cage nuts and screws are included. In my opinion, a reasonable interpretation of that is when buying an 8U rack with included hardware, the product would include 8U worth of hardware. Its not necessarily a deal breaker, I just think that the count of hardware should be explicitly stated in the product description if you are only going to receive 75% of what could be reasonably expected. But like I said, not a deal breaker in my case because this project is planned to take a few months and I only have 6U worth of devices anyway. But that is just my specific situation. Tl; dr: Please keep in mind, you will only be able to mount 6, 1U devices in this 8U rack without buying additional hardware. Thats a product page issue, but the product itself is exactly as advertised.

Sturdy and easy to install. I use it for the personal network at my home to house my 24 port switch and my router, modem. I got a shelf for the bottom to go along with. Great purchase.

Decent quality, good value but doesnt include necessary hardware to fill the 6u. Only includes half the hardware needed to be able to fill rack.

This was my first time mounting a wall rack of any kind and I found the StarTech to be very straightforward to install. The wall I used did not have studs on 16 centers so I first mounted a 3/4 plywood backing board with .25x2.5 lag screws and fender washers then mounted the rack to the plywood using the included screws. No problems there. I find StarTechs decision to only include 3U worth of mounting hardware with a 6U rack a little disappointing especially considering how expensive their hardware is to purchase separately relative to their competitors. I think I speak for most when I say that I would gladly pony up the extra couple of bucks that it would cost (even allowing for a 100% margin!) to include a full complement of hardware with the rack.

The rack is nice and sturdy for a home switch/ patch panel rack. It was easy to install on my wall I used lag screws. I fed my cables through the hole on the back of the rack to keep things nice and tidy. Switches and patch panel went in without any issues. The only thing I did not like was the silver hardware that came with the rack. I prefer black to match the color of the rack. Besides that it is a very nice rack for the price and gives me some room for expansion.

Mounting holes are 16 on center making it easy to mount to the wall studs. Sturdy and secure to the wall, keeps my home networking gear organized, off the shelf/floor, and out of the way. Highly recommend for any home or small business to organize their rack mountable networking equipment.

The rack itself is very good. Easy to mount to the wall. Once mounted, it is very sturdy. I would have given it 5 stars, but while they do provide hardware to mount some of your devices in the rack. There was not enough to fill the entire thing with all of my equipment. So I have my patch panel, TPlink port, and cyber power surge protector secured in the rack, but I couldnt mount my TPlink PoE port for my security cameras. It would be 5 stars all day if the proper amount of mounting hardware was included.

Installed this at the top of our linen closet. Was able to go into the studs with four large screws and placed this on top. Ive added a power strip, 16 port switch, 24 keystone patch panel, and a shelf with a smaller poe switch and router. Does not appear to have any issues holding up the weight and the crossbar on the top of the unit helps the rigidity of the unit. Please note that the crossbar will also prevent you from installing things like a power strip or anything that needs clearance on top as there is a portion of the crossbar that comes down into that top 1U space. Overall, satisfied with my purchase. I didnt ground the unit as everything that Ive plugged into the power source is being grounded. Will update as needed.
