It was with a heavy heart that I ordered an umbrella. After 5 years in the Southern California area, it seemed like a surrender. However, this one is pretty solid. Good gusts of wind still give it problems - but its plenty big enough to keep you and your bag dry, which is really the point. I wonder if there is a better umbrella out there as it pertains to wind resistance, but this one is fairly stable.

This is a great umbrella. It is a perfect size for my preference: big enough to cover me while Im commuting and wearing a backpack, but not too big to be unwieldy in the street or cumbersome to carry closed. It is also solidly built and has been able to stand-up to some pretty strong wind gusts. You do have to be careful though, because it is a large umbrella, the wind can pull you a bit when its open. My only wish for additional features would be an auto-close button, which I mistakenly assumed this model had. More of an oversight on my part than a drawback on the umbrella.

Fantastic umbrella. Does not turn inside out when a strong wind comes and is really durable. Ive had mine for well over a year and use it every time it rains. Still works great. I will buy another one when I need a new umbrella. I couldnt ask for anything more than this product offers.

This is a great umbrella for the price. My only issue is with the word compact. yea, its more like compact-ish. Its not quite a tote, not something you could toss into a bag, but smaller than a full-size. The trade-off is that it covers quite a bit more than a tote umbrella. Solidly built.

Be warned, as you walk outside into the pouring rain, and click the button with your thumb to effortlessly release your compact umbrella into a James Bond-esk canopy to release enough cover for you, your bag, and the beautiful girl from class, you may be pined with envy. Seriously though, I love this umbrella. Ive had it since 2014 (wrote this 12/16) The opening and closing acton is so satisfyingly smooth. Its compact yet huge. Invincible to wind and a total steal for price. I love this umbrella so much that Ive taken it to Europe twice, Mexico 3 times, all over the US, and survived daily use for two monsoon seasons in Arizona! Edit 4/4/19: add bouncing around the trunk, two months in Asia, two months in Guatemala, hail, snow, rain, 50mph pelting rain at 10,000 feet on a volcano, backpacking, checked bags, dive boats, a light gnawing by a pomeranian, and used as a club in a back alley skirmish... yet it still opens flawlessly. Best umbrella ever.

I live in Chicago the windy city and today it live up to its reputation. I work downtown also I walk about 5 blocks to my train the wind was blowing and the rain coming down in all directions, my Totes umbrella bear the storm. Since purchasing mine I have bought one for a co-worker and my sister and both love this umbrella. If you looking for a great umbrella this is what you want to buy, thank you Totes

Bought this umbrella for myself and used it twice. I notice that the weather in NY is a lot more extreme than Cali so this umbrella is perfect. I go through so many umbrellas and needed one that fit all the standards requirements to battles with the gusty winds. The auto open button works great when one is coming out of Starbucks in the morning and am holding a coffee with one hand. The vented canopy works great against the strong wind. I bought another one for my friend who lost her umbrella a few months ago as a Christmas gift. She loves it too.

I love this umbrella. It was the only one I could find that checked off all my requirements: Long Handle, Wide Covering and Vented. I its not the golf-sized umbrella that I see that could cover an entire family, but it does have a nice sized canopy. You can feel the stability of this umbrella every time it opens. I live in NYC and it travels well. It wont fit completely in most everyday bags but I knew I wanted something with a longer rod. My handle sticks out the top of my bag and I dont mind. My one complaint is the wrist strap off the handle. It is elastic and makes it annoying to carry with the strap as it bounces too much when walking.

After several (fairly expensive) golf umbrellas that fell apart after a few uses, this umbrella seems to be well made and fairly robust. Most of the large umbrellas Ive found use cheap plastic frames that break apart quickly and are impossible to repair. This umbrella has a lightweight metal frame and a folding action that works very smoothly. I would expect it to last through many seasons.

This umbrella is awesome! It is very large & sturdy and vented. Its got a comfortable handle and it just fits in my backpack. Havent tried it against major winds yet, but when I do, I will update this review concerning its performance. Update: Almost a year later & still love this umbrella! Have had no issues with it on windy days. Great purchase!
