totes Blue Line Golf-Size Vented Canopy Compact Umbrella, Black, One Size

Greater than one weekI guess I should have known this golf-sized umbrella would cover the entire sidewalk as I walked Chicago. This umbrella is intrusive but solid. I like that it can still be compact enough to fit into a large bag. Doesnt fit so well with a messenger bag though. I expect this to make it through some tough storms, if I dont annoy everyone I walk past.

> 3 dayFinally retired my last totes umbrella after 14 years of dependable service in Miamis tropical climate. Its a little smelly, a little bent, but mostly functional so itll sit as backup in the car. This new one feels comparable in build and quality and has already kept me dry in a couple unexpected late-season squalls. The size of this umbrella is its strength, and they only minor complaint I have is that the spring inside to extend it from its collapsed position is too weak, needs a little help to self-open.

19-11-2024Ive actually purchased this twice because my first one was borrowed forever by my sister. This is a solid umbrella that when collapsed is just about 20.5 long. When opened the canopy is large and has a great handle with good grip. Here in NYC lots of people buy the cheap $5 street umbrellas but those things will disintegrate in a large gust or a collision. Dont lose or let people borrow this and itll last you longer and keep you dryer.

> 3 dayI got sick and tired of cheap drugstore umbrellas getting broken and wind-reversed all the time. I wanted a reasonably priced yet well working umbrella. I read tons of reviews all over the internet, and I ended up with this one. So far, its done very well. It hasnt turned inside out. Last week, I had to be outside in the rain for 2.5 hours. This umbrella was great. Except for a couple of drips (and considering the nasty weather I was in, I expected a couple), I had no issues. I love that its a pretty big umbrella that folds to a nice size. Sure, its way bigger than the micro umbrellas, but if you need a mini, look elsewhere. About my only complaint is that it can be difficult to collapse it in inclement weather, with rain and wind beating down. I wish the auto open button would also auto close it. But I knew it didnt do that when I purchased it, so I cant fault anyone but myself for that issue. Otherwise, great umbrella.

> 3 dayI recently took this on a trip and was worried that it might be too big and clumsy. Although it is bigger that the usual fold up umbrella, it is easy to open with just a push button and not at all bulky or cumbersome. It is certainly big enough to be sure you are completely covered and protected. I love the bright color too.

> 3 dayDurable. Takes a little strength to close.

> 3 dayThis is a very large and heavy umbrella. Even if you have a large bookbag, it might possibly not fit inside (youll have the handle part protruding out). I bought this umbrella because I know Totes brand is known for their quality umbrellas. I also wanted a rather large umbrella (when opened). Unfortunately, it is a bit too big in its compact size. The umbrella is also very heavy so its hard to hold up and walk around-- extremely tiring. Though I must say, in times of extreme wind, my umbrella has not flipped over. I accidently left the umbrella closed and wet... And it rusted, so there goes that :(

> 3 daySeemed to be okay, but I misplaced and before I had a chance to use it. I replaced it with a Totes 8709 X-Large, and am much happier with that.

> 3 dayUpdate: 11 years later, we are still together and going strong! I work at a California prison, which means walking miles outside daily, in the middle of a nowhere valley, where the wind whips in every different direction & rain blows diagonally, not vertically. When it rains, the wind is worse and the average life expectancy of an umbrella is one or two wind bursts. I have gone through dozens of umbrellas. I have bought guaranteed umbrellas in the past but they still turn inside out and break. I finally decided to try a vented umbrella but prison regulations do not allow an umbrella with the long tip, like most vented umbrellas have. I finally found this one on Amazon and so far so good. This umbrella is BIG but not cumbersome. It is very sturdy and when the wind was whipping in every which direction, it handled it well and I wasnt worried it would flip inside out like every other one I have used. The first day I used my umbrella, I had 5 compliments -thats a really nice umbrella! which is goofy but just exemplifies how desirable a sturdy, functional umbrella is in our work environment. I gave several people item specs so they could also order this umbrella. I dont like having to spend this type of money on an umbrella when so many have failed in the past but if it makes it through one or two rainy seasons, it is well worth the money. One drawback - it is a bit heavy.

> 3 dayWhile functional as an umbrella, the darn thing wont stay closed, the handle just keeps popping open due to the latch just not latching well. Makes it useless as a collapsable umbrella, though as a full sized umbrella its pretty ok.
