Used this umbrella for the first time yesterday and one of the tiny brass rivets holding the upper and lower metal support pieces together broke, leaving a section of the nylon segments sagging a bit. Fixed it by aligning the metal pieces and inserting a small section of paper clip, twisting and trimming to lock it in place. Also, the handle of the umbrella is fairly short so if you have longer arms you will have them bent at all times when using the umbrella or the inner supports will be bouncing off your head. Otherwise, seems like it will work fine - it held up well on a fairly windy day even with a broken support.

Pretty standard here, it does what an umbrella should. I do like the handle having grip to it. Its big enough to keep my back from getting soaked or purse at your side. It doesnt fit in a purse but its not huge so its fine to hold. Does good, Im pleased. Not those cheap tiny things you get at the store that will fall apart soon as the wind comes.

This is a very large and heavy umbrella. Even if you have a large bookbag, it might possibly not fit inside (youll have the handle part protruding out). I bought this umbrella because I know Totes brand is known for their quality umbrellas. I also wanted a rather large umbrella (when opened). Unfortunately, it is a bit too big in its compact size. The umbrella is also very heavy so its hard to hold up and walk around-- extremely tiring. Though I must say, in times of extreme wind, my umbrella has not flipped over. I accidently left the umbrella closed and wet... And it rusted, so there goes that :(

I thought this would be more compact but thats part of the caveat emptor of buying on the internet. However, although larger than I wanted, this is an EXCELLENT umbrella that will keep the rain off me -- and after all, thats the purpose of an umbrella.

I finally decided I was fed up with the poor-quality folding umbrellas I always end up buying from CVS or wherever because my existing poor-quality umbrella had a catastrophic failure during a downpour. You spend like $12 and the thing has a hole in it after one or two uses, or one of the spines breaks and your umbrella is all floppy on that side. Even when its brand new, that cheapy umbrella is so small that youre soaked from the knees down by the time you get where youre going. I walk about 1.5 miles to work, and I dont want to get there miserable and wet. I saw a colleague with this umbrella and took it right out of her hand so I could find out what brand it was, then went to Amazon and ordered it immediately. My favorite thing about this umbrella is the size-no more wet legs!! It folds down to a reasonable size. I will say that this umbrella is heavy; I dont carry it all the time just in case of rain-its too heavy to tote around unless rain is in the forecast. But that is the tradeoff for the quality and durability of the product. Im very happy with it!

heavy duty but a bit longer then expected. hard to put into say a brief case bag or smaller laptop backbag for taking to work. does not auto close but its not difficult to close. no button to push, just PULL the slide in until it clicks locked closed. because it is heavy canopy its slower to open, but still a great umbrella. not quite golf sized but close to that just seemed smaller.

Quality construction, sturdy and does pretty good in reasonable wind (read less than 20mph, I havent had the pleasure of using it in higher wind). I would gladdly buy it again if I managed to lose it. The size is large enough that two people can easily use it at the same time. The automatic opening action, a feature that I didnt think that I needed is actually pretty darn handy when your other hand is occupied with coffee or a bag, etc. Edit 7/8/2015: So the rivets have started to fail at the edge of the umbrella. This does not render the umbrella useless, however there is a noticeable droop on two of the edges. Im still fairly happy with the umbrella, but this does take away from its ability to last. My rating has changed from 5 stars to 3. Two years old shouldnt be failing this quickly. (I always leave it open to dry after use.) Edit 10/2/2015: No longer impressed. Too much money spent on an umbrella that failed after two years of light use. I can No longer recommend this umbrella.

My husband researched umbrellas and landed on buying two of these. They seem like great quality! They aren’t too heavy, and they feel durable. We haven’t had any issues with the opening/closing mechanism. They are nice and large for two newlyweds to snuggle under—and now for keeping my baby bump well protected from the rain. :)

This is the second totes golf umbrella Ive purchased. I had the previous one for 2 years but I lost it on the train. It was such a sturdy, reliable, big, and compact umbrella I knew I had to get the same one to replace it. Fantastic!

This umbrella was slightly larger than I thought but that was my mistake. I love this umbrella. its a little heavy, but that also means it is very sturdy. It held up well in the wind on a blustery day in Washington, DC and it covered me really well. It doesnt exactly fit in your purse (unless you carry a huge purse) but I have a small, flimsy, travel umbrella for that. This is good for everyday use going back and forth to work.
