> 3 dayI bought mine as a kit including a bottle of MAPP from a local builders supply here. But I thought I would comment. First the TS8000 is certainly high intensity! As others have posted one of the quarks of this thing are its touchy flame control and lack of a true low mode. I was sweating 1/2 copper pipe and found that in the middle zone it was heating the pipe and flux so quickly (under 2 seconds!) that I was burning it off and leaving these very pretty scorch marks on my pipes. However after a little trial and error I discovered that you could back the flame off to just before it would blow out and be more of a normal torch. At that lowest setting (assuming I didnt bump the knob with the back of my hand) it heated the fittings very evenly and slow enough to where I could sweat them and wipe them clean for a reasonable looking finish. I gave it four starts since it is a handheld blast furnace, but for larger pipes (most likely its intended use) I assume it would work do beautifully for you! I love the one handed lighting and operation. Much safer than the old igniter torches Ive used in the past. I cant comment on gas consumption yet, but when I run out Ill update and tell you how many fittings I got out of the bottle.

> 3 dayI use this in conjunction with a Searzall for my steaks after sous-vide. If you are looking for an answer as to whether you should do the same, the answer is a resounding yes.

> 3 dayOverall, this is a sturdy a well made product but I believe that its overpriced. I found a similar torch for $15 which wouldve been more than adequate. A selling feature was the lock, but it seems fairly pointless from a practical standpoint. I specifically bought this to use along side my sous vide but I wouldve opted for a less expensive product if I could go back. Of note - you must hold the torch up-right to ignite and cannot point it at a downward angle and turn on/off the torch to smoke meats, which proved to be disappointing and annoying.
