Greater than one weekThe handheld torch body is made of all metal. The only plastic on it is the fuel knob. It is made in the USA so paying a little more for a good one with a lifetime warranty is O.K. I hooked it up to a 1Lb propane cylinder and it lit great. The old one I had was not a Bernz-o-matic and although it had lasted 10 years was ready for retirement. Awesome purchase and you cant go wrong.

> 3 dayA little pricey, but I does what I need to do. That is being able to preheat aluminum just prior to MIG welding it. I have a standard $5 dollar propane torch, but that requires a separate igniter and would typically be left lit while I weld since I have to immediately start the weld before it cools off. I have found that having an open propane flame while wearing the vision limiting welding helmet leads to self ignition. This unit solves that with instant trigger ignition plus instant off. It also generates a very hot flame and feels very beefy in your hands since it is made from cast aluminum. I just wish the flow knob was metal...the picture shows a brass knob but the one received was plastic. Note you do not want to drop this tool as it is designed to break off at the brass fitting (see the 1/4 hole just above the flame adjust knob...its for safety Im told!) Do that and its done...unless you can braze it back together with another propane torch and solder :)
