yes this cranks out the heat, but you cannot get a precise cone to focus the heat. It worked great melting part of a 55 gallon drum into a mulch cover for my mower.

Love this Torch! I am only using the blue bottle, and this torch is more than enough! Great as a fire starter, or for piping! I wouldnt go dropping this from a building, but it seems well built.

I had one for years that quit working so I needed another. This worked great right out of the box, but after about a month it would not light and I had to use a lighter. I was about to return it but it started working again. Worked most of the time for several weeks -- but not always. Then it worked every time again. Hoping it keeps working because I am past the return window.

I bought this from a big-box store because of immediate need, but the price was on par with here. I got this specifically and exclusively because I wanted to up my Sous Vide cooking. Searing a thick steak in my kitchen smoked up my whole house on a pan; this is more fun and less mess, and I honestly think I can get every spot better than I can with a pan. Ive considered purchasing the expensive torch connection that makes searing easier: so far Ive not seen a great need. I dont taste the gas on my food and the hot spot is big enough to make searing quick. I might change my mind in the future on that, but for now I think its more about the power. I also strongly considered buying a smaller torch designed more for the kitchen, but in reading up on those, many that prefer to use it for steak or chicken have said they later regret purchasing the smaller torch and upgrade to this. Plus I didnt want to deal with butane as my source, its harder to get and doesnt get as hot anyway. Excellent build construction, can use MAPP and propane (you dont need MAPP for sous vide searing), lights first time and every time, adjustable flame for better control. Its a great torch for all kinds of good reasons.

I purchased this torch less than a year ago. It is now leaking gas out out of the little weep hole, found in the handle. It leaks, as soon as a bottle is attached. The torch has only been used a few times. I am disappointed.
