Trigger Start Torch

21-11-2024I have a torch with igniter from 30 years ago and it works great except you have to make sure you put down the torch so the flame does not point at anything. A plumber friend had one of these TS8000 and I was sold. It is fantastic to let go of the button and have the flame go out, so I can focus on the work rather than if Im going to burn something I dont want to. Great product.

Greater than one weekWeve had a dozen or more torches from the lumber yard over the years and they have trouble working in the cold and sometimes even shutting off the gas. We also have troubles with employees let it run and run while theyre working on clamps for plastic irrigation pipe. This one starts when you pull the trigger and shuts off when you release it... unless you press the lock button which is useful once in a while when you want to stand up the torch and rotate parts around the flame. Like one other reviewer said, the only plastic is the trigger button.R

> 3 dayI bought this torch to repair broken copper pipes in my crawlspace after the deep freeze of February 2021 and it has performed amazingly well. It consistently lights the first time I press the trigger and it burns very well with the cylinder in any position since it has an internal pressure regulator. Cheaper torches will often flare up or blow out if the cylinder is tipped and it tries to burn liquid. This is very important because it often isnt possible to keep the cylinder upright when soldering in tight spaces, so it is very important that it burns correctly regardless of the position it is in. It also feels very solid and well made, the entire body seems to be made out of a quality grade of aluminium. I have not tried this torch on MAP Pro gas (the yellow tank), so I can only speak for its performance on propane. However, for most uses, the heat output of this torch should be more than adequate on regular propane. It solders 1/2 and 3/4 inch pipe very easily and will burn the flux easily too on maximum heat if you arent careful. If you need a torch, please do yourself a favor and get something high quality like this Bernzomatic TS8000, the low end torches are more trouble than they are worth and are potentially dangerous.
