> 24 hourIve used nothing but WD drives for over 30 years. First one was a tiny 240MB drive and since have been through many upgrades. While most were due to outgrowing the drives, Ive had maybe 2 catastrophic failures. I had a few drives start to go bad developing bad sectors but were caught in time to preserve data on a backup drive. While I know SSD is the thing now and is my preference for sure for a laptop, I do not find them to be a great advantage for sustained transfers like backing up or cloning a HD. SSD rates are initially very high then slow down after a few seconds. So for a while I will stick with spinning platters. This particular model is very fast rivaling SSD transfers for routine writes to another section of drive, as fast as my SSD laptop is.

> 24 hourThe seller was Amazon. I paid 70 bucks. The drive installed just fine for me. After installation and formatting, the drive shows 931 GB free space. My PC is running Windows XP Home SP3. I am using this drive as an extra data drive; I did not install the operating system on it. This is an advanced format drive. To learn what this means, use google and search for western digital advanced format. I needed a data cable, so I purchased

> 24 hournot healthy sounds. its been almost 6 months, never really used it until recently since I have like 10TB worth of storage (as well as this 6TB HDD). Now that I am starting to put things on it, it is making a lot of clicking noises and when I scroll through the pictures I have stored on it and when I scroll they will no load until I hear it wind up and start spinning, then it will load them. While scrolling through the pictures every few lines it loads while going down the list, I can hear it going click, click, click, clickclickclick, click. noises that shouldnt be heard. and for a WD Black HDD the quality should be way above my 4TB WD Blue HDD, which doesnt make any of the sounds this one is (as it should). and since I waited to use it until it was actually needed Im well past my return window and 1 month past the click here for support option. If you happen to buy this test it as soon as you get it by uploading deleting and accessing large # of files on it, to test the waters and see how it reacts and sounds. Im not saying dont buy this, Im say dont do what I did and wait until you actually need it before using it and realizing its not as it should be 100%.

> 24 hourI build gaming PCs as a hobby and part time business. This is a massive drive at a great price from a good company. I have my entire Steam library of almost 200 games as well as iTunes library and its not even a quarter full. Quieter than my fans, plug and play. If you can use 8 gigs then its a no brainer.

> 24 hourI bought this as a second hard drive. I got the black version because I use it for audio storage so I want extra reliability. Its been great. 9 months of daily use and no problems. Nothing to report - it seems fast enough as far as platters go, and it just works. Installation was a breeze. I did need a hard drive kit for a cable so make sure you have that. And make sure you have mounting brackets ready -- my case already had them, I just needed the cable.

> 24 hourThis Western Digital hard drive is a little more expensive but it has superior reliability and performs well. I rarely have problems with Western Digital hard drives. All others seem to crash shortly after the warranty expires. Not Western Digital. They last for at least ten years.

> 24 hourThis will probably be my last old school hard drive till I build or buy another computer in a few years. Drive seems to perform pretty good but I probably would have been better off going with a little slower but more quiet drive. For the most part it isnt too loud but sometimes for no apparent reason it goes crazy. It went crazy when I decided to use a screen saver. Windows is on a small solid state drive so not sure why this hard drive was firing off when that was active. So I quickly went back to just blanking the screen out after so long. If its on sale and you rock headphones or play music/games pretty loud then you will probably be satisfied otherwise seek quieter options.

> 24 hourI added this to a ThinkStation P390 with ease. The SSD and the 4TB platter drive I got in the bundle have given me adequate storage for my 3D / Digital art content. That said, Ive trusted Western Digital/WD drives for years and am very happy with this purchase.
