This laptop is decent at best. I got it on a sale for $478, including tax. The false advertisement of the fingerprint reader at the top left corner of the touchpad is FALSE. The laptop purchased is an ACER ASPIRE 5 A515-45- R74Z. The speed is ok, I expected the laptop to be faster because the only thing I use a laptop is to type for law school. With maybe 7 tabs open (sometimes less than that), you can see the stutter and hiccups switching in between tabs. Even worse, downloading a pdf form takes 10 FREAKING SECONDS OR MORE. Sometimes I have to select the download three times for it to even download one PDF document. The battery is ok too. I get a good 7 hours of on screen time, but that is with the exclusion of playing games or streaming videos. All I do is type. I expected it to last a little longer or I may just be nitpicking here. Thankfully, it does not get hot, even with prolonged use so I guess that is a plus with the built-in fan it has. The screen is nice and big, although to dim the screen all the way, it is still bright while working in the dark. The screen dimness is not ideal, but itll do. The volume is low, even with all the way to 100, but the quality is good/decent. The bass is also pretty decent, depedning on the song that is playing. Typing is ok. Sometimes what I press does not register the way I want it to. I do like the thin frame and style. It looks nice. Overall, Ill give it a 3.5. Not the best at anything, but also not the worst.

I bought this for my wife as an alternative to the MacBook Air. The screen is obviously not as crisp, but this model has backlit keyboard, a decent sized SSD (love the ease of adding another SSD or extra RAM), and a 1080p camera, to do everything one might need to work online. It took several hours to set up with all the system updates (there are half a dozen or more), and to tweak settings, as Windows sets up a lot of defaults I disagree with. Some folks have complained about quality control issues, and the boot recovery has been tweaked so that I can’t set the timeout on keyboard backlight (as some comments have mentioned) but this is a solid performer so far, especially at less than $500. Giving only 4 stars at the moment to see if screen hinge (mentioned as #1 quality control problem) causes problems, as my wife has only had for a few weeks. So far, though, as a Mac guy, I’m impressed.

Screen quality and resolution is great. I have owned several laptops before and this sleek beauty is by far becoming one of my favorites. Easy set up and decent battery life, very responsive with no lag. This will be great for 3D designing and printing. Well worth the purchase.

With all the great reviews, I thought Id be getting a great little laptop. Constant problems from the word go. Couldnt connect to Wi-Fi, except when it suddenly could. Then error messages every single time I tried to turn it on. Sometimes I could bypass whatever the problem was, and get to Windows. Eventually it just was all error messages and restarts. On the line with ACER, and we were able to reinstall the system, but that seemed to make it worse than ever. Its going back to the manufacturer. Defective machine. Never had this much trouble with a new computer before.

So far I am very impressed with this laptop. I dont put it through a lot of stressful stuff like high quality gaming but the screen is sharp and clear and the laptop is speedy and responsive. As a relatively low cost option for work or school it seems like a great choice.

My stress test for testing this thing was playing sonic generations on it out the box. Runs it okay with some understandable slow down. Tried sonic all starts racing transformed and mania. Both of those run great. Not sure about the big boy games. Cause I have my PS5 to run those. Oh and storage might be a problem so try to get an External drive or an internal SSD if you need more on board memory. (Assuming you have a lot to store that will easily go over 400+ ish gigs)

2nd time doing this. Had a computer person fix but now doing same thing. It won’t let me reset. It can’t auto repair it doesn’t do anything but keep popping this on screen. I have only used it a handful of times. A lot of money for nothing to work. I can’t access anything

I love the Acer Aspire laptop, this is the best thing for school and work. The laptop is lightweight and very durable. I am able to log in easily and have multiple windows open at a time while doing research. The laptop also is able to restore my pages after shutting down without closing my browsers. The size is great for everyday use and has the perfect amount of memory I need.
