They say it has HDMI and DP dual use, I used HDMI since I purchased it in May, worked fine. All of a sudden, last week it switched to 1080P only, and supports only answer is get DP, which my computer does not support. So no help from support at all, and no explanation of why it changed. Just replace HDMI with DP. So they are not very truthful about the dual support.

Reviewing the ASUS 29 Ultrawide Monitor... I have spent weeks researching the perfect monitor to upgrade my home studios needs. I do light gaming, audio recording and production, video editing, and image rendering. I recently upgraded a 10-year old PC with a new 600W power supply, SSD primary drive, and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti GPU. I needed a monitor that was large, fast, crisp, and true in color. I also needed something that is affordable, physically adjustable, and well-constructed. In short, this product nailed every single one of my needs. I detect no pixel walking, backlight IPS glow, or system incompatibility. I have always trusted ASUS products, and this monitor fully lived up to my expectations. The price point was almost, suspiciously, too good to be true, but so far so good...

This is a good 4k monitor only if you play truly for competitive purposes, but youd be better off with buying a top tier 1080p monitor for the price. Purchased this based on my experience with an Asus 1080p monitor for my xbox one x, which was fantastic and still is. In a side by side of the same videos, its abundantly clear the color of this 4k model is sacrificed for the other spec, 1 ms response time. Even after tinkering with settings for a whole day the colors all looked washed out. I tried it on several games, warframe, destiny 2, forza horizon, and only on forza is looked decent for a 4k, but thats because forza looks fantastic on anything. It has a lot of settings for the display but not the ones that matter for adjusting how the colors look. The trace free setting if used just creates a black after image if you turn quickly or a movie adjusts too fast, and it doesnt support HDR. The vividpizel option is also inconsistent, it either blurs the details slightly or highlights everything with what seems like white borders, and the setting doesnt work between the different games I tried, i constantly had to to adjust it. Also calibrated my xboxs settings as well, for clarification. I really didnt want to return it. The colors put simply looked washed out, the colors on my 1080p monitor and my samsung s8 look way better. I spent a lot of time focusing on the visuals aspect because thats the entire reason to purchase a 4k display when it comes to something as small as a monitor. Onto the other aspects, the blue light filter is very good, no complaints, that is one of the selling points. Game plus option is cool, allows for fps counter, and a reticle for hip firing, among other options. A definite bonus to hardcore competitive players. Unlike the other reviews, the base was fine for me, I dont need much tilt adjustment, and the base wasnt wobbly at all, but i believe thats because people didnt actually tighten the base correctly. The screw the comes with it allows you to tighten it without a screwdriver, and when I did that, it was wobbly like the other reviews said. Tightening it with a tool fixed it. Menu button/control scheme seemed fine to me, easy to use, didnt travel or detect random directions like other reviews, but I only kept the monitor for a few days before returning. All in all, will be good for some hardcore players, but the sacrifice of colors and visual options in this display just isnt worth it for a 4k monitor.

I purchased this monitor as an upgrade to my 21.5 1080P Asus 1080P, which has been serving me well for the last four years. Initially had some issues getting set up on my 2019 Macbook Pro which turned out to be related to limitations of different versions of HDMI vs. DisplayPort. Connecting to the HDMI cable Id used previously, I was able to get either 1080p or full 4K, with no resolutions in between, at a maximum refresh rate of 30Hz. An Asus support agent told me that refresh rate might be limited depending on HDMI cable version. Using the HDMI cable that came with this product, I was able to get 60Hz. Nice! Unfortunately, there were still no intermediate resolutions available between 1080p and 4K. This product did also come with a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable; I purchased a DisplayPort to USB-C cable after reading a forum thread suggesting that might help me obtain the intermediate resolutions that I was seeking. ....and it worked! All in all, this monitor seems great so far! Hope this info helps someone out there. Cheers.

I had occasional lag but not too bad. Before this I played on a plasma TV and never had a bit of lag. I was surprised since free synch is supposed to be better than playing on a tv. I liked that my eyes never burned like they do with an LED monitor so blue light is treated and I could play games all day without apparent eye strain. The most irritating thing is where the port for the HDMI and other cables are located. I had to practically turn it upside down to get the HDMI cable in and it comes out easily too.

It’s a nice 4K monitor that isn’t excessively expensive. The brightness will seem low for many games and I find myself playing at 100% brightness, which is perfect, but it’s concerning to be at 100% for it. The picture quality and refresh rate are fine. The 4K resolution is worth it, I usually need 2 windows open while working and it displays them well. I usually lower the brightness to 80% when reading on the screen. The joystick button is very nice and responsive, navigating menus is very easy. The display light is nice. The stand is decent and it does allow the screen to tilt, but you can’t raise or lower the screen. The tilt is enough for me. The base is of good quality. There are no speakers, but I find a nice little sound bar that fits under it well.

Experience fully immersive game play with the 28" 4K/UHD ASUS VP28UQG monitor, built with 1ms response time and adaptive Sync/free Sync for silky smooth visuals. Asus-exclusive eye Care technology helps to reduce eyestrain and ailments with flicker-free backlighting and various levels of blue light filters. Color temperature selection - 4 modes.
