Greater than one weekReviewing the ASUS 29 Ultrawide Monitor... I have spent weeks researching the perfect monitor to upgrade my home studios needs. I do light gaming, audio recording and production, video editing, and image rendering. I recently upgraded a 10-year old PC with a new 600W power supply, SSD primary drive, and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti GPU. I needed a monitor that was large, fast, crisp, and true in color. I also needed something that is affordable, physically adjustable, and well-constructed. In short, this product nailed every single one of my needs. I detect no pixel walking, backlight IPS glow, or system incompatibility. I have always trusted ASUS products, and this monitor fully lived up to my expectations. The price point was almost, suspiciously, too good to be true, but so far so good...

> 3 dayIt might just be that Im upgrading from a 1080p from 2010, but I am quite satisfied. Nice and dark, great response, good connectivity, and the control nub on the back is easier to use than I expected. Text (and everything else) nice and clear. As a bonus, it even has a much smaller stand than my older, smaller monitor, freeing up a good bit of desk space. I havent seen any of the mentioned issues, using an Nvidia GPU. I did have an issue where half the screen was solid black when I first turned it on. Turns out, this was an Nvidia issue, and a simple driver update fixed it.

> 3 dayI bought this to replace a more expensive monitor the broke when just being moved to another room (didnt drop or bump it). I got this one cause it was more affordable and had good reviews, and didnt expect too much from it. Honestly though, I was very pleasantly surprised. Its good quality and seems really durable (which is a standard of Asus products). The screen settings had to be adjusted slight bit the clearity and sharpness is really good for a monitor of this price. I do graphic and web design work and this almost matched the $400 monitor it replaced. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a good monitor for a lower price.

Greater than one weekVery low input lag. Great picture. Only downsides would be no HDR, speakers, and the base couldve been more adjustable but for the money you can beat 4k 60fps at this price. Best budget monitor. Use it on my ps5 and the games look amazing!

> 3 dayI would have rated this as a four stars for the viewing angles, but its just so cheap that it deserves all five stars. I have bought two and both arrived without any dead pixels and are in working condition. I would recommend this entry 4k monitor. Pros: -Dirt Cheap 28 4k -Great as an auxiliary monitor. -VESA mounting, vertically mounted works great with considerations for viewing angles. Cons: -Horrible viewing angles: Viewing angles are as follow. The angles are approximate. ~~Below: 30° angle or more fades or strong black overtones. ~~Above: 160° angle or more fades out a bit, but not even close to below viewing. This is reasonable and acceptable. ~~Sides: It may also fade out a small bit, but looks great from most of 180° angle. -Larger, thick monitor with wide bezels.

> 3 day(Update A year later) I think the engineers who created the navigation interface on this monitor may be dumb enough to qualify for government assistance. You normally cant turn this monitor off unless there is a signal coming in from the computer. With some operating systems, locking the screen immediately shuts off the video signal rendering this monitor incapable of being shut off until you wake up the computer and wait for the monitor to realize there is a signal. Something that should be quick is now an entire order of events that can take you 10+ seconds as the operator to wait for everything to occur just so you can access the turn off power function. Over time, this is costly. If you dont value your time, this may be a good monitor for you. I have been using this for a month with positive results. As long as you only have one powered computer connected to the monitor at a time, it is a fine monitor. BUT, if you connect a second computer this thing will make you want to throw a brick through it. It has a setting to choose which input you want to view. But it behaves like a mentally disabled child who thinks it knows better than you and switches away from the input you want to be viewing. This means if your computer switches video modes, hasnt come up yet, .... you are likely to be viewing another input you didnt want to see. And the other benefit (sarcasm) of this monitor is its fantastic (sarcasm) single button directional interface. You get to navigate the multi step menu each time this child thinks it knows which monitor you want to view. And if you arent frustrated yet, the menu system seems to be or become inaccessible when the monitor cant lock onto any input or the input changes on its own. So if you are in the middle of working with the one button menu system and the monitor thinks it needs to automatically do something for you, it will take down the menu letting you start over. And you can only start over if the monitor is in a state where it will permit the menu to launch. You would think that would be powered on. But no, it seems like it has to have a proper video connection before you can use it. If you are trying to figure out what is happening in certain circumstances, you will ultimately find it best to physically disconnect all other inputs. As mentioned before, as long as you dont use it with 2 powered computers, the monitor should work fine for you.

09-04-2025I saw some negative reviews and was hesitant on this monitor, but I was reassured when I found an old post on proper calibration. This monitor is amazing for the price. The only downfall is that it maxes out at 60hz, so its not ideal for competitive gaming. Single-player games look amazing at 4k, and 60hz is fine because you wont be getting much more than 60 fps with such high settings. If you want a monitor for single-player games or have a console, then honestly, this is the best bang for your buck.

> 3 dayThis screen has amazing clarity and a great picture, when it’s working. I selected this particular monitor because the reviews said it worked great connected to a MacBook. While it works 80% of the time, the other 20% it either looks like this, doesn’t “wake up”, or becomes very pixelated (mainly when I navigate to certain websites). I’m disappointed because I really wanted this screen to work. But I’ve had it less than a month and I’m already having problems.

> 3 dayOverall, I am very pleased with the VP28UQG. 4k resolution, picture quality, input lag, and Freesync are all upgrades from my previous monitor. Unfortunately, I am among those who have experienced flickering. I have replaced the HDMI 2.0 cable and power cord but the monitor continues to randomly flicker. I am unsure whats causing it but I suspect it has something to do with Freesync. Thankfully, Amazon is sending an overnight replacement. Once after I test out the new VP28UQG I will update everyone. Edit: Sadly, I’m reducing from 4/5 stars to 2/5. I appreciate how quickly I recieved my replacement but unfortunately the second VP28UQG also exhibits the same flicker. A quick Google search or look through the reviews on Amazon can also confirm this. I cannot believe Asus still hasn’t fixed the problem that is likely caused by FreeSync. Anyways, I will be contacting Amazon tomorrow about a refund or hopefully a credit so that I can buy another model instead. Back to researching displays I go Edit 2: After further research, I feel 2/5 is unfair. I’m changing it to 4/5 because I believe it is only due to my circumstances needing FreeSync 2. As I mentioned before, it is a great monitor but for PC with AMD. With that said, anyone with an XboxOne X trying to utilize FreeSync I highly recommend any monitor that has FreeSync 2 (only like 4 on the market as of October 2018) or waiting until they release more.
