This is going in my fire kit. Love that it doesnt have a handle. Why pay extra for something thats going to fail eventually anyways. The lanyard hole is big enough to fit #36 bankline or 550 Paracord ( as long as you dont have the ends burnt too bulbous.) This ferro rod is large and will last for many fires. This is replacing my magnesium/ ferro striker. Those are good in a pinch but you always run out of ferro before magnesium and then they are useless. This ferro rod strikes perfectly once you get the coating off. This is the size of it in my wifes hand. This is my bulletproof upgrade. Buy it! If you found my review helpful click on helpful.

A bit slippery for me, but I make it work.

Good product, throws great sparks if using a high carbon blade. Does well with stainless also. Using with a high carbon hand made knife, and added a deer antler handle for better grasp in wet weather
