> 3 dayWow! Never did I expect this rod to work as well as it does! A must have item for anybody serious about starting a fire in the backwoods. Just scrape off a small spot of the protective coating and get your tinder ready. Will be getting more of these for gifts for family and friends.

> 3 dayThe Ferrocerium rod is a very good value, it throws a plentiful amount of hot sparks. I am happy with the performance. I wish it was a tad bit softer but if you use a good striker it will perform well. The hole makes is it very easy to attach cordage and allows you to use much more of the rod. Very good product and I will re-order it again.

> 3 dayMine arrived today, was only 4 inches long instead of 6 like the description says. I will keep it, not worth the trouble of returning.

Greater than one weekthis is a big ferro rod - it works perfectly, allows for long striking strokes with lots of heat and starting a fire quickly. I bought 3 of these and hoped for the best. not disappointing. I put one in my camping gear, one in my BOB and one in my house. I have tested them numerous times and had never had a long ferro rod like this but I do love these things. a couple of long strikes and you have enough popping hot sparks to get things going. The first time I tested one of these it took me 3 strokes to start a fire and the first 2 where wearing off the coating.

> 3 dayThe size makes it easier to use than smaller rods when striking it with a knife or saw. Its also harder lose. I have purchased two, they will probably last me the rest of my natural life.

> 3 dayThe rod worked but took some time to find something that would work to get the sparks flying. It came with just the rod, and no striker.
