Really good brand but this tester is too sensitive. It only takes 10v to beep, so most of the time alerts you that you have power when you really dont..

What a handy little tool......... find this to be my go to tool to check for power problems down to thermostat control voltages. So simple and mindless to use, and it works perfectly, just be sure to read the instructions and obey the safety warnings, and understand what it is designed to do. My voltmeter is quite lonely these days........... relegated to those tougher troubleshooting chores only.

As an electrician, I use this almost daily. I like the always on function, and its not too sensitive. Its better able to read wires close together, which other testers Ive used cannot do as well. Be advised, this does not have an audio alarm, its light only (addition of audio would be really nice). If you are outside in the sun, it can be an issue. Once you press the button, to check the battery, it will also intermittently blink to let you know its on. This has caused confusion a couple times with coworkers who thought it was hitting on a hot wire. Overall, I like it. Its got some things Id change, but its my favorite so far.

Replaced a broken Greenlee voltage detector with this Fluke model. The Fluke seems more solid, and the notification with the large glowing tip is far superior. It however has no adjustment to the sensitivity unlike the Greenlee model. Still, a very nice, very solid device that I hope will take some rough handling better than the Greenlee did.

I have only used this tick trace for a month. That being said it seems to have the durability and quality Fluke is known for ( I have dropped it a few times already off a 6 foot ladder). I like the constant flashing self test that lets you know its on. The beep is loud and can be turned on or off as desired. The tip glows solid red when voltage is detected. The only issue I have is you have to fully insert the tip into the hot receptacle slot to get a reading. This can be a bit awkward when dealing with newer tamper proof TR receptacles. My Greenlee detects voltage as soon as I get the tip near the hot side of the receptacle or any hot conductor. It seems ( with the unit I have anyway) you have to almost come in contact with the hot conductor to get a reading. Not so good for a Non-contact voltage detector. It is rated to detect voltages from 90V-600V, but Im not thrilled with this detectors sensitivity having sometimes touch the live conductor to get a reading. A flash wouldve been nice too. My old unit had a flashlight which was very handy, and this ticker isnt cheap! For $20-$25 a unit a flash light wouldve been a nice feature. However it will get the job done.

This unit has a bright indicator light and sounds as well. Important for indoor or outdoor work.

Considering this is a relatively expensive pen meter I am less than impressed. After one year of very little use it stopped working. The problem was not due to batteries but with the unit. I am not buying a cheaper version which I hope will serve me better.

It would be nice if it had a beeper.
