> 3 dayI received two remotes when I bought my Genie garage door opener and needed a third. I saw this on Amazon and thought I’d give it a try. So glad I did, the setup was super simple and it works just as good as the others.

> 3 dayI called the Genie company with a technical issue....both of my old remotes would not open the garage door even after re-programming. He concluded that they were shot and needed to be replaced. I asked him what the replacement cost would be from Genie, and he said approx $40 each. I thanked him and immediately got on Amazon to see if I could find replacement remotes for a more reasonable price....HENCE THIS PURCHASE! These babies work great....each and every time! If you need to replace your Genie remotes, I would strongly recommend you purchase this product...you will be so glad you did!

> 3 dayGenie makes great garage door equipment. But I really didnt like this unit. I bought it in September of last year. I destroyed it July 11, 2014 in a fit of frustrated rage. Throughout its brief, but troubled, lifespan, it never really worked very well. The biggest issue was lack of range. The remote work best when you were already actually inside your garage. Seriously, reliable operating range was about 6 feet from the garage door. And I used it when on my motorcycle. So I was never transmitting through automobile bodywork. The buttons didnt provide much tactile feedback. Sometimes you could press the button hard with no effect. Other times, when you were close to the door, you could barely touch a button and the door would actuate. The housing of the unit was pretty sturdy and would stand up to any situation less harsh than a large, angry, red-faced man hurling it to the asphalt as hard as possible. In that situation, the disintegration is spectacular. My unit may have been a dud. Your mileage may vary.

> 3 dayWorks well with an older Intellicode garage door opener. From a security point of view its apparently better to not leave your garage door opener in your car where it and details on your address can be stolen to facilitate a burglary. The Liftmaster controller we tried didnt work, even though the Liftmaster keypad we have *does* work with the Genie.

> 3 dayI ordered this from a third party, 365 Garage Door Parts and they were great. The shipping was as fast as Amazon prime and the cost (with shipping) was still less then Home Depot (about 33% less). The remote programmed fairly easily. I have 3 Overhead Door Legacy openers so I had to switch the remote to Intellicode 1. I found the instructions right here in Amazon reviews: hold each button for 10 seconds or more. A small red LED light will come on with the small green LED light in the remote. I pressed the Learn Code button on the opener and pressed the remote button 3 times. The 3rd time opened the door. Done. Some people have stated that it is not so convenient to hold each of the 3 buttons for 10 seconds or more, but I think this makes it more versatile if you have a mix of Intellicode 1 and 2 openers that you need to operate. HOWEVER... The transmit range of the remote is between 20 to 25 feet. And that is from the opener. I had to stand within 10 to 15 feet of the garage door to make it open. And even at that range it didnt work all the time. It seems that if I point the remote at the opener I have better results, but not past 15 feet. Therefore you need to be right at the garage door for it to open. Not acceptable at all. I usually walk out the garage to my truck in the morning and close the door from the truck. I cant even do that with this remote. I did replace the CR2032 battery with a new one and no difference. I have older remotes that I am trying to replace and they work at a greater distance. This remote could be great but its not. Its not even worth buying. Unless I can modify it with an internal antenna, I will probably send it back. UPDATE: Feb 23, 2014 After researching how to increase the range I learned that the biggest factor is the opener antenna. First, make sure it is as straight as possible. They are usually just a wire hanging out the back of the opener. Then try orienting the antenna different ways. I tried straight down at first then angled it differently. Think about the old-fashion rabbit ears TV antennas. You need to find the best angle to get the best reception. I tried a few different ways and discovered that the best reception was when the antenna was angled mostly down and towards the road (where I would be operating the remote from). I increased the range from 20 feet to probably 70. At least I can open the doors from the end of my driveway. I still expected a little more range, but now the remote is acceptable and I will keep it.

Greater than one weekI called my local HIGHLY reputable garage door company and asked about this product. The young lady who answered the phone said they sell them for $39.95, which is the suggested retail by Genie, and a fair price in my opinion. I asked how hard they were to set up and she told me quite easy. So I asked if what they were selling was the same as what I saw on Amazon for less than half the price, she looked it up on her computer and said yes thats the same exact model we sell and and advised me that I should purchase it from this vendor instead of them. I did and it was shipped quickly and setup was as easy as reading the instructions. A perfect transaction and I was able to use the same setup process for my wifes car, which has buttons built in for opening garage doors and such but no clear instructions in the manual with regards to how to set it up. I would highly recommend this item to anybody who needs a replacement opener and need a Genie with rolling codes.

Greater than one weekThis remote works fairly well. The program method for Genie remotes is kinda weird but I got it to work. My main issue is that you have to be much closer than you would be when using one of the larger remotes (like the one that comes with the garage door motor). My roommate has the larger one and can use it about a 100 feet away, even one street over. By contrast, I have to be at the edge of the driveway for mine to work.

> 3 dayEasy to program. Small enough to pocket. I agree with other reviewers that the button could use some feedback. You really don’t know if the button push was successful or not until your garage either opens or closes a few seconds later

> 3 dayNeeded small opener to carry in my purse. The hardest part about installing was carrying the ladder to the opener. My code finder was inside the area where the light bulbs are so I had to unscrew the 2 screws. Took one time to push learn button got down off ladder and aimed the remote twice, like in the instructions. Boom! Worked! If a 66myr old woman can do it anybody can.
