This review is for the Genie G3T-R Intellicode2 3-Button Remote My old Genie remote quite working and new batteries would no longer fix it. I didnt know how difficult it would be to replace the remote or if I needed a specific type or even brand. This new Genie remote is small and light and comes with buttons for three different garage door openers and a clip to attach it somewhere like on the sun visor. It uses 2 CR-2 batteries, which come with the remote as shipped. Each of the three buttons on the replacement remote can be programmed to different garage door openers. The only difficulty I encountered was the need to get up on a ladder to reach the garage door opener. Once there, the plastic shield around the opener drive unit popped up with the assist of a screwdriver on the tab on one side; the other side came open using only my fingers. The instructions didnt perfectly describe my door opener unit but they were close enough and it was simple. I had to press a button/pin to put the opener into learn/program mode and a red light began to flash. Then I got down off the ladder and moved several feet away from the opener and pressed the button on the remote twice and the light on the opener stopped flashing. That was it! The opener had programmed itself to the new remote and it now worked perfectly. I replaced the opener shield and put the ladder away and the job was done. The new remote works from inside the house and from about 40-50 yards down the street. Again, it is light and compact and has three buttons that can be used for three different door openers.

I bought these replacement remotes when my previous remotes both ceased to function (the first one failed a year ago, the second failed more recently). Before declaring the prior remotes broken, I tried replacing the batteries and re-programming, but with no success. I always worry about compatibility for things like this. In case anyone is searching these product reviews for a model number, Ill offer that my garage door is a Genie 1/2 HP model PCG700ML. Programming was very easy. The remotes come with batteries pre-installed. These remotes allow for programming up to three garage doors; I only have a single door, but thats fine. My only complaint is that I would prefer if, when pressed, the buttons on the remote either made a click noise or had some tactile feedback. In other words, the buttons are kind of mushy. But this is not a fatal flaw. If you garage door remote(s) need replacing, this product is an affordable, effective, easy solution.

Remote was easily paired with my Genie opener. However, then my HomeLink in my vehicle would not pair. I could pair one or the other, but was unable to train my HomeLink from the remote. This was further complicated by a Genie Remote Keypad that I was trying to pair at the same time. At this point I could pair any 1 of the 3 with the garage door opener, but not the other two. I spent much time trying unsuccessfully to resolve this on a Thursday night...so Friday morning I called Genie Customer Support. It took nearly 30 minutes to address two issues that others might want to be aware of: The garage door opener apparently can only accommodate 7 remote devices. Over the years I had more than 7 different HomeLinks and remotes. The opener was cleared by holding down the train button for about 10 seconds until the LED on the opener extinguished. We then successfully paired the remote and the wireless key pad with the opener. The HomeLink then successfully trained with the remote by having the vehicle ignition in the Accessory position. Many thanks to Stephanie of Customer Support for helping to resolve the issues.

A great replacement or extra remote opener. I have had these myself, and even with our cars now having internal programmable openers, it still comes in handy. (As in, I recently leased a new vehicle & still havent set up the new opener!) Yet this was purchased as a gift for my mom who only had one older Genie remote opener still working. She loves the smaller size. I also purchased a new outside wireless keypad for her (Genie GK-R Intellicode 2) & together made a nice update for her home.

If you have an existing Genie unit, this was a super easy install that took about 3 minutes. The longest part was setting up the ladder. Worth the money.

Owner of a Genie Model 2028 garage opener, I needed another remote. I ordered the Genie G3T-R 3 button remote through Amazon. Following the directions that came in the box, I was easily able to program the 3 button remote. Simple and works like a charm.

I used the product to open and close a Genie garage door opener. I had to use the program button on the garage door opener to complete the installation process. It worked just fine
