Infant Optics DXR-8 Add-on Camera (Not Compatible with DXR-8 PRO)

After doing a lot of research I found infant optics to be one of the best monitors. We revived the monitor and camera set as a gift from our registry. Here are the things we love: the picture quality, the range (we can sit out side at our neighbors house, be in our garage or other side of the house and have no issues), the temperature display. Here is the best part!! After using our monitor for a year and half the camera started to have a bad connection with the wires and would randomly loose connection to the monitor. I contacted customer service and they were amazing!! They were able to send me a replacement and our camera and monitor are working wonderfully! I just purchased a second camera for baby #2..we will forever use infant optics monitors!

Works great as a second camera for my original system. Zoom on any of these original cameras is trash but it works. Just grainy. I wish there was an easier way to flip between cameras like adding it as a shortcut instead of having to go through the menu every time

This is a very good camera for our baby. Weve had no problems with it. Range on the monitor is good, and the battery life is excellent. I also like having a dedicated monitor (as opposed to having to use my phone). My only slight negative is that the night version is slightly blurry, but ultimately, youre seeing in the dark, so what else can you expect? Very good quality overall.

Pros: Easy to hook up second camera. Night vision looks good. Picture quality is good. Comes with needed cable. I like that we can have both cameras hooked to the same monitor and that it does not use WiFi Cons: only comes with lens hood, not the extra zoom lens the original came with. I wish the scan feature was more intuitive and could tell when a camera was on/off rather than needing to change the setting from scan when both kids were sleeping to view camera 1/2 when only one of the kids were sleeping and have the camera on.

We bought our first monitor for our son two years ago. We never realized the infrared sensor was not working and therefore, the night vision was poor. We thought it was just the system, so we stuck with it in order to avoiding purchasing a whole new monitor system with a different brand. Our second son was born recently and we purchased an add-on camera. We couldn’t believe the difference in quality. We called the company and that was when we realized the sensor must have come damaged with our original camera. However, since the one year warrantee had lapsed, they could offer us a 50% discount for a replacement. Customer services was quick and responsive. We did need to buy a separate zoom lens and battery replacement (with a much longer life), as well as a wall mount. We bought this for our first born, have used it for the last two years without issue and have loved it! We purchased a second camera for our twins this summer. The added camera was easy to set up, however, it stopped connecting to the monitor after about 2 months. I contacted customer service and notified them that I went through all their troubleshooting and still could not get the second camera to connect. Their customer service representative walked me through the process of returning the camera and sent me a new one, free of charge. It was honestly the most wonderful customer service experience I have had. The new camera is working perfectly and the representative I worked with even followed up to see if that fixed our problem! Highly recommend this product and company!

We bought this monitor to replace a cheaper one that we absolutely hate. I was seeking a monitor that had clear picture and sound but also that allowed the screen brightness to dim or brighten as I like leaving the monitor on at night but hate how bright they are. I also needed a monitor that could show the whole darn crib. Our old one had a cord that was too short to raise the camera any further so there was no way to capture the entire crib. Seriously? So, needless to say, this one is a major and drastic improvement. I appreciate the large screen size, the ability to switch to different cameras, the ease of turning up and down the volume, the scan feature, the long length of the camera cord, and the ability to change screen brightness.

We love this camera! It is so clear, has great battery life and distance the signal can be picked up. So if I need to do some gardening or clean out my car while the kids nap I can do that knowing that I will be able to hear them if they wake and check on them through video. We have had one camera for almost 4 years now. We bought a second when #2 was born and the older one works just as great as the new one does!

We purchased a second add-on camera for our second baby’s room. I’ve never owned another monitor so I can’t compare, but I do really like the features this camera and monitor offer. The ability to view my babies without having to just rely on noises alone makes this monitor well worth the money! It has a good range of motion for when my older son rolls around in his bed. My only complaints are that after a year the monitor will stop working and the screen will display a signal out of reach screen, even though everything is powered on and was just working. I took the battery out and let it sit for 20 mins as the manufacturer suggests, but within another week or so it started doing it again. I’m not sure if this is from the battery being plugged in for too long, but it is annoying because it sometimes stays on that screen for 3 or more minutes and powering on and off doesn’t resolve the issue, you just have to wait for it to reconnect. My other complaint is that on our first camera (the one we’ve had for over a year now) the port at which the cord plugs into the camera seems to be somewhat loose now and we have to wrap the cord around the camera with the antenna holding it in place to keep it connected. There are also times on that camera where the picture isn’t as clear, which maybe could be caused by the cord connection, but it’s just odd that one time the picture is great and the next it’s a tad blurry when the camera hasn’t been touched. Overall I’m very happy with this camera and monitor set.
