I got a new HP laptop. I ordered PC Mover because it was recommended by Microsoft. MS stopped including data transfer utilities with W10. The transfer can be accomplished via wifi, ethernet cable or the special Laplink cable. I tried wifi. The transfer was going to take 20 hours and my connection kept dropping despite having the router and computers in the same room. I contacted support. They were very helpful. My new computer didnt have an ethernet port. Support suggested connecting old computer with ethernet cable to the router and the new computer on wifi. This was better but still too slow and connection kept dropping. I finally broke down and got a used Laplink cable on eBay. That worked great with the transfer taking just a few hours. My 2010 MS Office came over just fine without needing to re-activate with the product key. My son used PCmover with my cable. His 2013 MS Office did need to be re-activated with the product key but otherwise everything worked. I might have been successful with just an ethernet cable but for sure everything worked with the Laplink USB cable. On a side note you need their USB cable to work. Just connecting two computers together with a USB cable wont work. You can select and de-select what you want to come over. Its not intuitive but if you click around you will find the page with all the options and deduce how it works. My old computer had extra drive partitions that held boot up software. You dont need that stuff. Just bring over your C drive. If you have an interruption like a dropped connection or you cancel in the middle, the software protects you so you can start over many times.

Worked very well and quickly. Follow instructions exactly for a seem less experience. Even if you use a external drive for the conversion.

It worked very well once I purchased and used the USB cable. My first attempt to do it over WiFi was not successful. If your WiFi is prone to intermittent dropouts, buy the cable at the same time you purchase the software. My first attempt using the cable was flawless and the transfer was successful as advertised. I totally recommend this software because the programs on my old computer transferred also, which means I didnt need to reinstall those programs manually, some of which I no longer had the the installation discs. Yay!

I was pleased to think that I had found software to transfer my programs and licenses from my old PC to a Windows 10 PC. It did transfer most of the programs that I selected, but not a single license. Also, the software (which came with an Ethernet cable) insisted that neither of my computers had an Ethernet port. Both computers had, in fact, a working and visible (in Windows device manager) Ethernet port. I had to transfer things very slowly over a wireless network instead. Not happy with this product. I could have moved the files over to my new machine myself in less time and it would appear that I will need to deal with renewing licenses (which I sort of expected anyway.)

I replaced my workstation computer. The old computer and new computer were both running Windows 10. The old computer had a single Hard Disk Drive and the new new computer had a newer style SSD drive. The transfer was a big success, and I have been using my new computer with no problems. Transferring applications and data would have been a much more difficult process without the help of this product. I transferred via WIFI and after identifying which computers were the new on old ones, which was easy after loading the software on both, the transfer was automatic. Very impressed with the transfer. Manual methods would have taken days. I completed the transfer in one afternoon. I would recommend this product to any user trying to transfer programs and data from one computer to another. Excellent rating.

This software simply will not transfer what you need transferred. The more stuff you have on your drive, the lower the percentage that it can transfer. If you read the fine print. It tells you. Any unsupported software won’t be transferred. If you have not updated your drivers recently, they won’t be transferred. I got a replacement software from Amazon, and I simply put it in the garbage can. Get yourself an external drive and transfer all with that and download everything else from the internet to your new computer. DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE!

Downloaded the Professional version of the software, followed easy instructions, hooked up my old pc to my new one with my own Ethernet cable and waited for it to do its thing. Before I knew it, all of my important files, software, log-ins, etc., were on my new computer! I recommend it to anyone who doesnt want to deal with making sure everything is copied to the new computer.

I work in the software industry and if we released software with this quality we would be out of business. I have used Laplink products in the past and it performed up to my expectations, but I had problems with this product from the start. I was using the dedicated ethernet cable to connect the two computers and continually had network issues when neither was connected to a network (except to each other). After 4 hours (on an estimated 30 minute transfer), I contacted support and was told to undo the transfer and start over. I did so and went to bed. About 4 hours later, we had a short power outage (5 sec.) which powered down my source computer but not my target computer, which still showed the transfer active. I restarted the source machine thinking the transfer would continue, but it did not. After an hour of trying to restart the transfer, I contacted support and was told to kill the transfer and start again. When I could not get the two systems to find each other, I was told to uninstall the product and reinstall it. At this point, I had already spent more time trying to get this product to work than it would have taken to manual do the transfer and gave up on using the product and just did the transfer manually.
