Reviews have said that this is easy to use to transfer data from your old pc to your new pc. It was LESS than easy. Either it couldnt find the old pc, and when it did, it kept saying that the PCMOVER on the old pc was not the most recent. Excuse me? I loaded the latest software version on BOTH the old and new pcs!! This was a total waste of time and money. I will find a much better software transfer program that WILL do the job.

I had tried a similar product which did nothing. Before attempting a manual transfer I tried the Laplink version. I had used Laplink many years ago, when the transfer was by cable and quite slow, though since it ran without me this didnt matter. I was most impressed with the current version. The instructions were clear and simple, there were no problems, and despite a large number of data files and a large collection of photographs it was surprisingly quick. The only problem I had was created by the new computer, which had a large separate data drive which was fast but took me a little while to discover, since the file structure on the new computer was quite different from the old. Laplink had sorted this out correctly.

I must admit it that the personal service I received from the young lady was the best anyone could ever have. My laptop was not cooperating at all with the transfer. The young lady took me by the hand, and literally, step by step help me make the transfer from my old laptop to my new laptop. The process should only taken a few hours, but if she hadnt been there for me, there is no way I would have known what to do. Once the process was completed. She even called to see if everything was satisfactory. You dont great service like that anymore.

My son was helping me set up my new computer, and he suggested that I buy this. It was easy to use and made for a seamless transition.

It worked but not exactly as seemlessly as I had expected.

When I bought a new laptop for my wife I did not realize that Microsoft does not provide a way to transfer everything including programs to the new PC. A search and some reading led me to believe that PCmover would do the job. The new PC has a 500GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. The old PC has a 1TB hard drive. I wanted to have pictures and documents transferred to the hard drive on the new PC and everything else to the SSD. I used an ethernet crossover cable for the transfer. A standard ethernet cable will not work with a PC to PC link. The on screen instructions were clear but I used the online Chat to confirm that I was proceeding correctly. That was an efficient and clear confirmation so I proceeded. The entire transfer went exactly as planned and everything is working well on the new PC. Thank you PCmover for saving the day!

The product did not work

I have used this to transfer programs, apps and files from one laptop to the next and from one desktop to the next. The latest was a new laptop with only USB C ports and the supplied cable would not connect the two with an adaptor. The transfer had to be done wirelessly, which slowed it down considerably. But it still got done and the transfer was successful.
