> 24 hourI have one other Leviton device and it is at the far end of the house. It disconnects and has to be reconnected to my Wink hub periodically. Last week it disconnected again. Being house-bound due to the Corona Virus, I decided to spend some time and try to fix this problem once and for all. I went to Amazon and bought this and installed it at about a halfway point between my hub and the older installed Leviton switch, so that the Z-wave at the far end of the house could make a better link to my hub with this as a bridge device. In wiring it, the Red terminal has to go to the load - I incorrectly connected the load to the white terminal at first, and then found my error and reconnected it properly. You need a Neutral wire in the box connected to the White terminal to use the switch. (Hint: You can go against code and use the ground wire as a neutral if the box does not have a neutral, if the switch is not already on a ground fault, as the ground wire is exactly the same polarity as a neutral wire). The difficult thing for me was linking it the new Leviton switch to my WINK hub. You have to put the hub in the linking mode, which is not hard to do with the app on my Android phone. You then have to depress the Leviton switch (either turning it On or Off) until the solid green light at the base of the switch turns on. Once that occurs, you depress the Leviton switch using the top of the switch (the On portion) for seven seconds or until the solid green light starts to flash. I did this repeatedly with no success - and that was my fault. There is one more step - and that is what I missed at first. Once the green light is flashing, you have to depress the switch one more time in order to initiate the pairing sequence. After about an hour of false starts, I re-read the instructions and found that I had missed this last step. Once I discovered this (it was in the instructions provided by Leviton, but I missed it), the pairing happened in a few seconds. Whew. I followed the prompt and named the new switch for the light that it controlled. Then I went to the WINK app on the phone and selected Z-wave Network Rediscovery to remap the Z-wave signal. Everything worked great. Finally I went to my Amazon Alexa, and verbally asked it to discover new devices. It found the new switch in about 30 seconds, and from that point on I could control the switch from Alexa. Finally I went to the original problem Leviton switch at the far end of the house. After putting the WINK hub in the pairing mode, I first disconnected that switch from the WINK hub. I then went through the Leviton Reset process (which consisted of putting the switch in the flashing mode and pressing the top of the switch several times). I then went to the WINK app and disconnected that switch from my WINK hub. Once that was done, I reconnected that Leviton switch to the WINK hub using the same sequence. I used to connect the new switch. I named my original switch by a new name just to be certain that Alexa would not be confused. I am not sure if I needed to do that or not, but I did and it worked great. I then used the Zwave Network Rediscovery option on the WINK app to make sure that the original switch was using the optimum path for its signal (there is no way to confirm that it is using the optimum path - I just hoped it would do so). Finally I went back to the Alexa App and discovered the renamed switch. Now everything works great. In summary, the Leviton works fine, but it difficult to link due in part to the Z-Wave technology. I found the Moes brand switches (they do not use Z-Wave) to be less expensive and far superior if connecting to a 3-way circuit (you only need to replace one of the 3-way switches with the Moes brand - incredibly clever technology by the switch designer - and although Moes had some bad reviews on Amazon, Moes has worked reliably for me for over a year wherever I installed it, and installed three of them). But once you have started with a Z-wave, you have to use other Z-wave devices to set up a decent network. Hope this info is helpful to others who have selected Z-Wave.

> 24 hourOn the positive side, this integrates well with SmartThings, and is a good, generic switch. I had one connected to two lamps (both relatively low power consumption, as both were LED-based. Maybe 5 watts combined?) After a few months, I started getting errors from SmartThings that my wireless connection was broken. Trying to use the switch manually, didnt work either, it had failed on. Stuff happens and the world isnt perfect, and it had seemed to work well up until that point, so I ordered the same unit again as a replacement. When I replaced it with the same unit and replaced the old one, I noticed a really unusual behavior. Both lamps were connected to a power strip, which was, in turn connected to the switch. When I would turn the switch off, only one lamp would turn off. My only conclusion is that this switch is not based upon a relay, but instead lowers the voltage to a level where a normal light would not power on. However, the voltage requirements for the one lamp were probably so low that it remained on whether the switch was on or off. Well, it worked well enough that I moved on to other more important things, and one week later, I got the same Wireless connection lost error in SmartThings. I am replacing it with a non-Lutron switch, as I have lost trust in the engineering of these units. This is disappointing because i had hoped that this would have been a more trustworthy brand.

> 24 hourThe install is simple if youve installed any type of switch before, but the instructions could be a little more straightforward for those less experienced. You need a neutral wire for the switch to work. Install can also be a real challenge if you dont have deep gang boxes and things can get pretty tight sometimes which isnt real good. This however is typical of any dimmer and not just this one in particular. Pros: Fade On and Fade Off which is adjustable from anywhere from Instant On/Off to just over 2 hours. Why youd want the light to fade over a period of 2 hours is beyond me, but the feature is there. Dim Level Memory. The switch remembers what level the lights were dimmed to and turns on to same level. You can even set dim level while the switch is off. LED locator and dim level lights can be turned off as well. Minimum and Maximum light levels can be set Load type is changeable for either Incandescent, CFL, or LED. Cons: These do not play nice with VeraPlus (latest firmware as of review). Including the switch into Vera is works just fine, and the ability to remote control via the app/web works, but you lose features. When switched on/off via Vera there is no fade-on/off (instant) and there is no dim memory so always turns to 100%. The other huge issue is that the status is not updated in Vera when the switch is physically used in any way no matter how much time passes. I cannot manually poll the switch as it always times out. This is just strange to me as remote functionality works and status is updated, but when physically used nothing changes on the controller. My Troubleshooting Steps: At first I thought I had a defective switch, but then I bought another one and it acts exactly the same, with the same problems. So I have one installed at proper location and one installed in test bed 5 ft from Vera. Both act the exact same. Ive Included/Excluded, factory reset switch numerous times with no results. Ive reached out of Veras forum and theres really not a whole lot of steps I can take to try for fix. I also have a DZ15S installed and this has worked perfectly without issue. It just boils down to a Comm issue. I have also reached out to Leviton and they had no immediate answers or suggestions, but Im waiting to hear back. I will update as I receive any more info In Conclusion, 2 stars for being a great dimmer with great features, but the smart features dont work as intended...with Vera anyway. That being said Im better off just buying a Lutron Maestro for half the price without smart features.

> 24 hourBought 2 of these. One is working fine but the other failed and started melting/burning. Thankfully I was home when it happened. Made the bathroom smell like burnt plastic.

> 24 hourI ordered one of these to test functionality with my Vivint Security System. It works flawlessly and allows for Alexa commands as well. If you do want to connect this to your Vivint panel you will need to call Vivint and get a security code to put in to add it to the system. Another note is that after you get the Vivint panel to begin looking for the device, you need to hold the switch down for 7 seconds until it flashes orange and then press it once more until it turns green. That is when the Vivint panel will see it and allow you to name it! Thats it - viola - it just works. Needless to say, I am ordering a few more!!!!!!!!!!

> 24 hourMost of my smart switches are Zooz, but I needed to control the lights in my garage, 2 of which are double fluorescent. This seemed to be the only switch that could handle the initial surge. It fit the bill perfectly. The only annoying part of the installation was needing to add a neutral wire jumper, which was not provided.

> 24 hourFor the Hubitat owners out there: I don’t know if it was just my hub that glitched or if there’s an actual problem, but when you add this it selects the wrong driver on the properties page. You need to go in and change it to “Leviton Fan Controller” on the properties page. It’ll take a few minutes to update on the dashboards after that but it’ll work properly after.

> 24 hourIve installed over 40 dimmers, 13 of them become unresponsive to manual or zwave control and can only be reset via the circuit breaker or airgap. This in unacceptable behavior. No real solutions from levitons support team either. Stay clear of leviton smart switches go for lutron casetta, zooz or inovelli instead. I really wanted to love these switches but leviton screwed up.

> 24 hourI bought this so I could turn my plug-in lights on/off from my phone. I have a Ring alarm as well as a Ring Lighting Bridge. However, you dont need the Ring Bridge to make this work. Heres what you do: 1. Plug in the Leviton plug. Press the LED button for about 15 seconds until the light flashes red. You have just resent any prior configurations. 2. Open the Ring App. Navigate from the top-left menu (three horizontal stacked bars) to Devices. Select Set Up Device. Choose Security. Scroll down to Works with Ring: at the bottom of the menu. 3. Select I dont have a QR code 4. The next screen should say Prepare to add your device. At this point, press the LED on the plugged-in Leviton plug for 7 seconds until it turns amber. Once it turns amber, press one more time (single short button press) so that the LED is blinking green. Go back to your phone app. The status should go from listening for device to adding / configuring device. The screen should tell you you have added the device successfully. So how do I turn the outlet on/off from my phone? SO this is why this gets 4 stars. You can only do this from the Security Base Station menu under Devices. Again, go to the three horizontal stacked lines in the upper-left corner of your app. Go to Devices. Select Alarm Base Station. You will probably see a new item called Lighting under which you will see a new entry, Binary Switch 1. Thats the Leviton plug. Select Binary Switch 1 and you will see two options for Event History and Device Settings. You can change the categorization of the Leviton from Lighting to Outlet using Device Settings. But the way you turn it on/off is by PRESSING THE SHADED ICON ABOVE THOSE TWO OPTIONS. I changed mine to Outlet under Device Settings, so that icon appears as a plug. Tap the plug picture once quickly and it will activate the smart outlet. Tap it again and it will turn it off. This doesnt work as I envisioned it would. I thought I would be able to access this under the Lights icon from my Dashboard. I cannot, nor can I add the outlet to a group of lights. But I can turn it on/off from my phone, so at least that is working.

> 24 hourI swapped out three standard switches to these smart switches from Leviton. They are easy to hook up with very easy to understand instructions. Note that you need a neutral (white) wire. Once up and running, which took about 15 minutes, connecting to Alexa was very easy via Wink.
