The first one I got I returned a couple days after installing it because the dimmer stopped working. I found that if I kill the power from the breaker for a minute and turn it back on, the dimmer would start working again. The replacement I got does the same thing, just not as frequently. Every couple months, the dimmer just doesnt respond to any input on the smartthings app or on the switch. It stays on or wont go on until I kill the power on the breaker for a minute and turn it back on again. Its annoying. I bought a bunch of light switches too and all those have worked flawlessly.

Ive tried a number of z-wave switches, including Inovelli Red Series and older and newer models of both GE Enbrighten/Jasco and Leviton. Leviton Z-Wave Plus are my favorites because the light responds immediately to a paddle click. With Inovelli and GE, there is a 1/2 second delay between clicking and the light responding. Apparently this is because those switches support double / triple clicking etc., but I never got used to that delay -- it always felt like something was wrong. I will say the GE 46201 has the best paddle feel of all of the switches -- solid and hefty. Inovelli is close behind, with Leviton at the back of the pack with a slightly cheaper feel and a higher pitch click than the others. I love the Inovelli features with the controllable LED light (though it was a pain to set up), but just couldnt get past the 1/2 second delay.

Z wave dimmers are more expensive that WiFi remote switches. They also require a hub to work (I use a Raspberry Pi with usb plugin hub I got on Amazon). Advantage is the use of the Home Assistant software with lots of features and the port forwarding so I can control all devices from outside the house. I also have many devices (collected over the years) and they would increase WiFi traffic and limit the number of WiFi devices. If you want one or two remote switches then the WiFi ones will do the job, otherwise for a full house solution, the extra work (and study to figure it out) of a hub based system makes it worth it. I am able to use the Home Assistant to control the

While this switch looks ok it is far outclassed bay the marginally more expensive lutron caseta switches. The Lutron switches only work on their proprietary hub or with wink (which is what I have), but boy are they better. Installing these I noticed performance issues with the reception particularly. Sometimes it would be reachable, others no. I even extended the network with a plug in z wave device. While that improved it, I still noticed a 5% failure rate. Some of that may be attributable to the hub, but some of it I suspect is the switch. As others have noted, when removed and re-added to the network, it begins acting up. I would avoid and go with the caseta system.

I filled our house with Leviton Smart switches and smart plugs all work great and are very easy to set up. Once the family learned the names of each everyone loves them. We had fun last Christmas with Alexa Routines turning on our Christmas lights setting them to music with one phrase. I start my day in my office activating my fans and light, and music with one phrase, has been fun and convenient. I set a couple of room to also auto off in an hour because the lights were always being left on but with voice control no big deal. Had a couple of issues in the beginning but phone support was great, they stuck with me until resolved.

So I have worked with numerous smart switches, some even that need to be installed, and this is the easiest to deal with. Dimming is smooth and doesn’t jitter, and setup was easy. I use smart things and that integrates with Alexa. Since it’s also dimmable, you can tell Alexa to turn on to a percentage. Anyways if you’re looking for an easy way to turn on and off lights and integrate some plug in lights to your smart home, this will make it easy! I got 3, I put one in my bedroom, one in my dog room, and one in my living room! Now my dog knows when I get home and has a light that turns on automatically when I’m gone.

Use these for our ADT system for auto on/off scheduling. They well made and easy to use as long as you read the directions to add to your zwave network.

I have 2 Leviton switches and 11 Leviton Dimmers. 3 of the DZ6HD and 8 of the DZMX1. I just installed the DZ6HD and found that you cant configure it like the older dimmer switches. The older ones can be configured and fully customized thru the paddle itself. The advanced options on the DZ6HD such as Fade On Time, Fade Off Time and Preset Light Levels can not be programmed despite their instructions. Their instructions said they can be Configurable through the paddle as well as over the Z-Wave Network. However, the instructions dont tell you how to customize it through the paddle or how to do it over the Z-Wave network. I called their Technical Supoort and they told me that the instructions are wrong, you cant customize it through the paddles and there is nothing on the market that can customize those features at this time, not even their own app!. Why does this matter? For those that have these set on timers, schedules or link them to themes and have them set to dim, youll have to turn the dimmer up every time if you want full lighting. They will only go on as brigdht as the last setting. Also, if you like the ability to control how fast they fade on and off then youre out of luck in that regard also. I bought 3 of these units and cant return them. Im stuck with smart switches that are dumber than their previous version.

Ive installed many Leviton Decora switches in my house, but this one was not as good of an installation experience as the others. Heres why: 1. The others have two ways of connecting the wire: pushing the wire in a little hole that would engage a pin to hold it in there (easy) and the conventional way of screwing it on. With the screws you could bend the wire and them and still get a secure connection fairly easily. This one only has the screws and youre kind of forced to push the wire straight in the slot, no bending. The wire actually came loose on my first try after I pushed the switch in the box making me worried about a potential for hazard. 2. There are no lights on this one and the pairing instructions clearly mention lights, so I honestly dont know how I managed to pair it in the end and probably wouldnt be able to pair a second switch except by chance again

I bought four of these, the first time around the wrong one was sent; then the second set that came through had a jammed ground screw that I had to await replacement for. Im using all four for all LED sets. The dimmer looks and works well, however once the dimmer is past the 90% dim level the lights go out. I changed the load setting to LED and the same results yield (on all four). The device needs a firmware update, something is going on and its extremely annoying when turning on the lights.. as I have to turn it on and hit down one level on the dimmer (to the 9/10 position) to get the lights to come back on at their max power.
