> 3 dayBought 2 of these. One is working fine but the other failed and started melting/burning. Thankfully I was home when it happened. Made the bathroom smell like burnt plastic.

> 3 dayMy issue with this dimmer comes down to 4 issues: 1) Loose fitting rocker panel. They made the rocker panel removable so you can customize the color between white or light almond. I appreciate the color options as my house switches are all light almond. So that was key in my choosing this one. But the panel is not a tight fit. Needs improvement like the ge jayco one which also removable color panels but fit tighter. 2) Terrible software integration with smart things. The device handler used for this dimmer within smart things is a generic dimmer device handler with no customizable options. It took me as a smart thing noob about 3 hours to figure out how to find a better handler that was custom written by a programmer using open source code. I then installed it on my hub using the smart thing developer ide. Now with this custom device handler I can set a wide variety of settings available on this switch. Had Leviton taken a few hours to develop a better handler or even find the open source code version I did, then provide it to the Samsung Smart things development team to be used with this dimmer, that wouldve made a huge difference in the quality/ value of the product. I was able to override the 10% minimum dimmer and now set it so i can dim my ten recessed lights to 1%. That was a huge change for me and makes the dimmer work perfectly for our family room. Leviton, Im an IT manger who hasnt coded in ten years. It took me several hours to pair the correct device hander for your dimmer. It required me to dive fairly deeply into smart things developer tools to do so. 95% of smart device consumers arent going to do this. You could spend less than $2000 on software and increase the value of the product by 500%. It would be wise to do so. 3) wrong default values for 3 of your settings. See item 2 above requiring me to correct them. 4) the software instructions for changing the defaults were incorrect. your tech support people know it. Ask them. Then update your instructions so they match your product.

Greater than one weekUpdate: 12/9/2017 - I will bump this one to 4 stars. It seems to be working well now that Ive added a few more leviton switches to extend my zwave network. I initially had a problem where one of my switches unpaired with my smartthings hub randomly, and I was worried this was going to be an ongoing issue. However, I had already ordered a few extra switches, mainly because I was unhappy with my zwave network coverage and wanted to fill the gaps in between my hub and where my switches lie, which probably a good 30 feet or so (and through a floor since the hub and switches lied on different floors). I added an identical DZ15S-1BZ switch, along with a DD0SR remote switch that are effectively lie right between my hub and my original switches. The new new switches paired without any additional hassle. Didnt have to move my hub. This made me really happy. Then, ever since I added the new switches which in turn extended the coverage of my zwave mesh network, I have had 0 issues. Granted, its only been about 1 week since I made this change, but so far I am encourage. Fact of the matter is this: youll get much better performance with zwave if you have a reliable network. I would encourage anyone with issues to not give up until they have a small handful of switches in their network to ensure strong coverage between the hub and switches. Original review: A big pain to pair with smartthings, but it works... I previously had an older leviton dimmer that has since been discontinued that I was really happy with. I bought this newer smart switch because not only did I have good experience with my previous leviton switch, its an updated model at a great price. Sorry to say that Im not impressed so far. I have never had so much difficulty pairing a smart switch as I have this one. Most smart switches, you simply toggle the switch and smartthings will pick it up right away. This one, you have to put it into programming mode (holding up on the switch for 7 seconds, then pressing again to get into pairing mode). Not a huge deal, it just required I actually read the directions since I wasnt having any luck. But then theres some other fine print. It says to pair you need to locate the hub between 3 to 35 feet. Thinking my hub was too far, I moved it to about 15 ft away. Still wouldnt pair. I assumed the switch was just never going to pair, but on a last ditch effort I moved my smartthings hub as close as I possibly could to the switches, about 5 ft away. FINALLY it paired. Now that my hub has paired with the switches, I was able to move it back to its normal position about 25 ft or so away, and it still works. But the fact I had such difficulty pairing, I am worried its going to lose its connection. But for now, its working. Anyone having trouble pairing this with smartthings, just be sure to put the hub as close as possible to the switch. Once paired it seems that distance isnt as much of an issue anymore.

> 3 dayThis review is for the Z-Wave switch. It seems that the reviews are mixed with reviews for the dimmer. The switch is either on or off, nothing in-between. The switch is working fine. I was not able to thoroughly check some of the features (such as 3-way or Z-Wave repeater mode) but the basic feature of turning the switch on or off is working correctly. My switch is connected to a Smart Things hub. The pairing instructions on the hub are at best misleading (read wrong!) but I dont believe that this is Levitons fault. Some people reported reliability issues but I only have one for 2 weeks... I am going to order more and will be able to comment on this later. Update: I know have about 10 of those in my house. They are very reliable. I came to Amazon to order more but they are now $60.28 vs. 41.95 at Home Depot.

> 3 day09/11/17 Edit: * Restored the review to 4 stars -- the problem behavior I noted in the 08/31/17 vanished after a few days, and the switch now responds normally/quickly on the first try when using Alexa. 08/31/17 Edit: * Lowered to 3 stars after a few days of use -- when attempting to control this device via Alexa/Smartthings it often fails on the first try with the response Sorry, <device name> is not responding.. If I try again immediately, it works. Not sure this has anything to do with the particular switch, but currently none of my other devices behave this way. Original review: * Good price -- $35.99 which I purchased, free Prime delivery. * Staightforward installation -- though this is ZWave Plus, it doesnt appear to be any smaller than previous generation/competitor switches. Still tight to fit into existing switch boxes. * Paired easily with Smartthings V1 hub. * Much louder click in operation than older GE/Jasco switches installed in my home.

> 3 dayWorth every penny!! I was previously using an existing premium Lutron Caseta dimmer for new 4 LED recessed lights I installed in my living room. With the Caseta, I was able to dim the lights to the lowest setting but it wasnt very low (probably 20%) and they had a slight to moderate flicker to them. This Leviton dimmer DZ6HD-1BZ solves all the problems! Z-Wave inclusion to my Smartthings Gen2 hub was immediate and the controls available are on/off and dim %. The manual mentions that supporting hubs have access to the switch programming options such as minimum dim %, load type setup, etc. but mine wasnt showing. Your experience may vary. No big deal. Using the Leviton manual, I set the load type to LED, and was able to set the minimum dim to 4%! (See picture for super dim lights - background light is from a TV for reference) The lights are so dim its like being in a movie theater. Another great feature is that when you turn on the switch it returns to the previous dim level used. Great for not blinding yourself if its early in the morning and you had them dim when you went to bed. You can also disable this setting via instructions in the manual. Overall a great little switch thats very customizable and does everything you would need from a dimmer switch. Bonus points for blending in with my other paddle style switches around the house.

Greater than one weekNot much more to add. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and had it up and running in time. Directions were pretty simple and correct. I am using it on a lamp and its automated with Alexa to turn on/off in the evening and with other commands.

> 3 dayI love the design and lights indicating the brightness level. However, this switch has failed to work about 1-2 time each month by not allowing me to turn off the lights. The lights remain on and the switch does notthing. I must reboot the switch by turning off the electical circuit to the switch and then turning it back on. I didnt worry the first time that this failure occurred; however, it is now recurring leading me to believe that the switch circuitry design is bad or I received a defective switch and it is too late for a return.

> 3 dayI almost returned it as I thought it was faulty. Connection with Smartthings was not intuitive. You have to hold the button for 7 seconds until it blinks orange. Then press the button one more time. Then it is discoverable. If you don’t thoroughly read the directions you’ll miss this. It works fine now.
