This is a fine mouse for the money, as it has it were it counts. The buttons feel good and are responsive, the weight of the mouse is good, and the tracking sensor is reliable. The build quality isnt perfect however. The mouse to me is very ugly with the grey plastic having a cheap sparkle to it. The plastic used in both the grey portion and the black outer portion feel a little cheap, however they seem sturdy enough after using the mouse a bit. The cord is also unwrapped, which is a little bothersome, but not a deal breaker. My biggest concern is that the mouse is build for a 1-3-1 hold, meaning three fingers should sit on top of the mouse. This was pretty uncomfortable to me as I had always used a 1-2-2 hold. I adapted pretty quickly, as I did not want to return the mouse, but others may not want to try and use a mouse unsuited to their preferences. Overall, it is a very good mouse for the price if it fits the hand, if not and you are unwilling to relearn the grip, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Disclosure: I am not a gamer. I needed to replace the Logitech M500 mouse (RIP) Ive been using for nearly 20 years. I am retired and have some hobbies. I thought I could improve on my efforts by up-grading my mouse. This is the 3rd Logitech mouse in as many weeks (Thank you Amazon for making returns so easy). The MX518 is supposed to be the descendant of my M500. I had decided to give up on programmable buttons and wireless so this seemed to be the obvious choice. Wrong! One of the most useful features of the M500 was what is referred to as hyperscroll. Guess what was removed from the MX518?. Add to that, the optics have been changed and are not very reliable. Logitech software is questionable. Returned to Amazon.

I dont have big hands but this was small even to me. Worked well and the design was good but it just seemed smaller than I was used to.

My original MX518 lasted 8+ years. This lasting 5 months is pathetic.

I wanted a replacement for the Logitech G5, not that there was anything wrong with it. But a 1600 DPI laser mouse on a 4K monitor doesn’t work. So, the 518 has the look, feel and ergonomics of the G5, and I am a fan all the way!

For over seven years Ive been using a Raizer Taipan. The middle mouse button finally went out and it was starting to have tracking issues so I retired it. Unfortunatly, razer no longer makes the Taipan nor anything I would consider its equivalent. So I purchased the mx518 on the premise that any mouse so beloved the company would bring its design out of retirement couldnt be that bad. After a bit of remapping so that up/down DPI where both below the scroll wheel and DPI shift was above it, I started using it. The difference in size and wait where noticeable but the biggest problem was shifting from a flat topped mouse to an angled mouse. After a few months the issues I had at first have become completely non-noticeable and Ive grown accustomed to it. I can say that it does its job and does it well, with no frills.

I received this mouse on Oct. 31, 2020. I bought it primarily for gaming, for the 8 programmable buttons, but I am disappointed. First, I found the design to be ungainly, the mouse feels too big in my hand and I cant reach all of the buttons without continually shifting the position of my hand. After trying it on a couple of games, I went back to a standard keyboard and mouse setup. I now use the LMB, RMB, and mouse wheel only, the same as I would with a 3 button mouse. The other problem is that the LMB intermittently malfunctions. There should be tactile and audible feedback when the mouse button is clicked. But sometimes I get the click (feel and sound) before the button is fully depressed causing me to misclick. Overall, since Amazon is allowing returns until January 31, I think I will return it and not ask for a replacement.

My younger brother gave me an older version of this mouse years ago and it has lasted me many years until I decided that it was time to replace it and Im glad I did. My old one was still working, it just wasnt working properly anymore. So I purchased a used but like new one and so far so good. This was a purchase that Im glad that I did and when it comes time to replace this one, Ill buy another one of these thats for sure.

I previously routed the mouse to the back of the computer through a cable routing grommet hole in my desk. However, after just a week or so, I found the cable shielding had some obvious wear where it rubbed on that plastic grommet. Now Im wrapping it up and running through the USB pas through on the keyboard. But the typical rubber/plastic shielding just tends to offer more resistance than a braided cable. If nothing else, making a replaceable or removable usb cable would be well received. As many others, I once owned a mx510 in red, back in the day. This is a familiar friend, and with the new sensor and feet design, I hope it lasts as long as the original did.
