Logitech G MX518 Gaming Mouse

Greater than one weekI was heartbroken when my my old MX 518 died a few years ago. It was the greatest gaming mouse I’ve ever owned. Logitech absolutely nailed the ergonomics on the 518. I never found an adequate replacement. I’m not a fan of Logitech’s newer mice. They have great sensors, but very poor ergonomics with sharp edges and poor button placement. Someone at Logitech finally came to their senses it seems. The revamped 518 gives you the best of both worlds: the ergonomics of a 518 body combined with modern internals. This feels as great in my hand as I remember. Actually I think the build quality on this might be slightly better than the original. The sensor is definitely way more precise. Overall it’s even better than the old 518. Kudos to Logitech for actually listening and giving the people what they were wanting.

> 3 dayThis mouse has the same finely sculpted ergonomics as the old MX518, but with a much better sensor. The body is a bit lighter, which isnt particularly good if youre used to filling up all the weight cartridges on the tunable mice, which is a feature this mouse does not have. The shell is identical to the MX518, but with different materials and a different finish. The sides are nice textured plastic. The top is an extremely high-gloss surface that is very eye-catching, but this is where my one gripe comes in. Who the heck designed this finish? The glossy, lightly adherent finish attracts skin oils like nothing else. I have literally watched the clickers on this mouse gum up in minutes, right before my very eyes. The only way to avoid instantly fouling the top surface of this thing with skin oils would be to literally scrub your fingertips with a pumice stone every morning. Did they even test this thing, and if they did, were they wearing white cotton museum keeper gloves the entire time? Disappointing.

> 3 dayI owned several of the original MX 518 gaming mice, the grey version that had simulated dents in it and the red version. This was by far the best gaming mouse Ive ever used and this version of it brings back memories. Now its new and improved with the HERO sensor and i love it!!

> 3 dayMy husband is a huge techie and gamer, and this mouse is the one that hes been using for years. This mouse is very hard to destroy. The padding on the bottom will wear out WELL before this mouse does. Im not really a mouse user and I usually utilize either my stylus pen or my PlayStation 4 controller to do stuff for long periods of time in the computer. I dont have the most ergonomic setup and so using a mouse really hurts my wrist. When my husband gave me his old spare, basically a lesser quality Mouse than this one but basically the same design and company, it felt like smooth milk under my hands encasing an egg. I know that doesnt really make sense but, thats what I feel. That Mouse recently died after about a decade of heavy usage (searing hot wire especially at the base) and I got this one and since Ive been using it, I feel like I am able to browse with it for hours before I start feeling any strain in my arm. For a period of time I was using another cheap mouse and after about 15 minutes of usage, my wrist started getting pins and needles in it. Oh my gosh, it was awful. And I ordered this right away when my husband told me to get it as a replacement. After resting my arm, I was still nervous that I would start to get pins and needles but after using this mouse... NOTHING! It really doesnt matter what quality Mouse you use for your computer. As I said, I dont have the most ergonomic setup. The table I sit in front of is a little tiny bit higher than what it should be for my hand when Im resting my elbow on the arm of my office chair. However this mouse feels so good but I can still go hours just using it without the controller, in total comfort. As I also said before, my husband is a major techie and gamer (he builds and repairs computers and games/browses for HOURS on his computer and this is the only mouse he swears by. He bought several and he only ever sticks with one thing if it works, like me ^^

Greater than one weekIm not really a mouse enthusiast, but I know what I like. I was using an old Logitech wireless mouse for work (at home), and it would cause me to develop pain in my hand if I used to for too long. I remembered I had a MX510 in the early 2000s and LOVED that mouse. So thinking I was being thrifty, I went onto a popular online auction site, thinking I could find one for dirt cheap... I mean who wants a weird shaped mouse from the early 2000s? $70 Starting price, $200+ New. I refused to pay that for a mouse (especially a used one), and settled on the G403, it was not the same as my beloved MX510 but it was A LOT better than the tiny Logitech I was using. I saw recently that there was a re-release of this mouse... I was thrilled. I waited patiently for the US version as I did not want to wait a month+ for one to be imported from Hong Kong. Wow, let me tell you... The design is exact. The feel is exact, even down to the rubber cable. I can use this mouse for hours on end, and never get pain in my hand. A lot of people hate this design, but I love it. I use it to game, and work, and it preforms flawlessly. I booted up Unreal Tournament 99 just for the pure nostalgia... Ive certainly lost my touch over the years, but the mouse felt just like I remember.

> 3 dayWhat was once the best mouse around - is now a creaky, noisy, mess. Upon arrival, the mouse wheel scrolling BACKWARD would create a loud grindy squeak sound. Extremely unpleasant.

> 3 dayWow. Just wow. When they discontinued this model I was devastated. This was the most popular and best fit mouse that I used back in the old cs 1.6 / cs source days. I even messaged Logitech a few times to bring this back. Im sure this has nothing to do with my messages, but Im surely thankful that they relaunched this model. Best mouse ever made and highly recommend it. Not going to lie, I went away from Logitech mice for a while now, but Im back. Hope a Logitech rep reads some of these reviews ... Keep this mouse, PERMANENTLY. <3

> 3 dayI have my doubts about these being legitimate MX518 re-issues, considering they were delivered in *ziploc bags*, but as long as they worked, it would have been fine. Not only are the buttons incredibly squishy compared to the several older versions I still have (and thereby can directly compare), but one of them just flat out loses tracking frequently. Ive never right-clicked accidentally more in my life than after I swapped out my older (but better) MX518 for this one. If you were using older Logitech software for the older models, they may not work for these ones. I bought two of them at once, one of them has the tracking issues, the other one has the squishy buttons with almost no feedback. Looks like an issue with quality control. Unfortunately I waited too long swap them out, or I would definitely be returning them.

> 3 dayI bought a mx510 many years ago, I lost it one day and recently needed a better mouse for work. This filled the need and was a great price. Ended up being better and less money than last time I bought a gaming mouse! Very happy with the purchase. Lastly the ergonomics for people with large hands is the best. Often my fingers extend off the mouse buttons or I need to put my palm on the mouse pad or arch just to fit with the mouse. This one is made perfect and its made just for right hand so no awkward ring finger positions trying to hold on. Love my new Mx518!!

> 3 dayI still own my old MX518, as far as shape and button positioning this mouse is spot on to the original. As for the features, they are upgraded for the better (DPI as well as software features). It looks like my old mouse minus a new paint job. While it has made playing games like Overwatch easier, it hasnt made my overall performance much better, but thats a personal problem T_T and I need to git gud again after all this time.
