Finish is different (obviously), strain relief is different, underside around the sensor is different, buttons are shaped differently and no longer have the red silkscreen, top rear-most button has a different logo entirely. The G logo inlay at the top rear isnt metal (which is probably better since the printing on it would eventually wear off on the old ones). Cable is thinner. Matte side finish may be a bit different- hard to tell. Most of these items are superficial and doesnt really detract, but again, its not the mx518, I was hoping for. Its a Rev 2...

I have owned 3 generations of the mx518 and Ive always went to the next generation because I wanted a upgrade not because the mouse broke down. From the time I wake to the time I go to sleep, I can game on this mouse without any kind of fatigue on my hands. The sensor is precise and the dpi upgrade is great, I dont have to pick up and move the mouse like 3 times just to get to the other side of the screen. Logitech please take my suggestion and make a separate version of this mouse with 3-4 extra buttons, I use this mouse mostly for MMOs and several extra buttons would make the mouse perfect.

Its overall pretty nice. Although for how much this thing costs it feels pretty flimsy. The buttons also just stick anything onto it and can get dirty easily, nothing like any mouse Ive ever used. It feels a bit awkward for my ring finger like it has nowhere to go but I ended up clawing the thing the whole time anyways. I always use the middle mouse button to open and close links/tabs and the button started to give away and make a crunched plastic sound but it did go away somehow which was cool... If this product costs maybe half what it is then Id definitely recommend and give 5 stars but it does have some flaws. It performs nicely though its just the flaws really stick to my mind.

I wanted to try this style of mouse out after using the Microsoft IntelliMouse for years. My palm style grip makes this mouse uncomfortable to use, the most comfortable way I can hold this mouse with a palm grip is at a 45 degree angle counter clockwise so that my index and middle finger are over the right mouse button. If you have a claw grip this may not be an issue at all but for a palm grip the mouse just seems too small and at a weird angle. The thumb and DPI adjustment buttons are nice and the mouse appears to be pretty durable and made with good materials. I just recommend figuring out what type of grip you have before you buy a mouse because if youre a palm gripper this is probably not the mouse for you - Im going back to the IntelliMouse.

And better than ever. I am not going to write a long review other than it is a great mouse. Sensor is accurate and doesnt do weird interpolation, smoothing or acceleration like some others do. Skates hold up well, clicks are a little loud though. If you are use to the MX518, G400 series, etc then this mouse will feel fine. Good for the palm grip people and weird finger/palm grip I have. Just be sure to use it on a good mouse pad. These sensor is VERY good. It will pick up things and cause your cursor to jump. If you have a good one, keep it clean. I recommend it be used on a hard mouse pad and not a cloth one. Glides smoother.

Who would have ever thought that after Logitech released the original MX518 back in 2005, there would be no other mouse like it?! The original MX518 has changed the PC gaming world by setting the standard of what a gaming mouse should be. I still have the original MX518 as well as the MX518se (2nd edition). Although Logitech have replaced the mouse over the years, none of them could ever match up to the standard of the MX518 until the release of the G MX518. The Logitech G MX518 has taken the standards set by the original MX518 and raised them to new heights! With the classic design and feel, along with a modern 16,000 dpi optical gaming sensor and a 32-bit ARM processor, this mouse has taken the crown as the new king of gaming mice of all time!!! Much credit to Logitech for listening to the PC gaming community and taking heed to rebirth a true legend!!!

This is a fine mouse for the money, as it has it were it counts. The buttons feel good and are responsive, the weight of the mouse is good, and the tracking sensor is reliable. The build quality isnt perfect however. The mouse to me is very ugly with the grey plastic having a cheap sparkle to it. The plastic used in both the grey portion and the black outer portion feel a little cheap, however they seem sturdy enough after using the mouse a bit. The cord is also unwrapped, which is a little bothersome, but not a deal breaker. My biggest concern is that the mouse is build for a 1-3-1 hold, meaning three fingers should sit on top of the mouse. This was pretty uncomfortable to me as I had always used a 1-2-2 hold. I adapted pretty quickly, as I did not want to return the mouse, but others may not want to try and use a mouse unsuited to their preferences. Overall, it is a very good mouse for the price if it fits the hand, if not and you are unwilling to relearn the grip, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

You have probably already read how great of a gaming mouse this is. Like others, I used it in the 2000s as my main gaming mouse. Its really a nice mouse. But, these days I work from home and keep having my mice loose tracking on me. I write code for a living, and I dont need much from a mouse. But, I need it to track correctly. Unfortunately, the standard logitech wireless ones I keep buying, keep loosing its tracking. Thing is, I still have my old 518 from 2007 ish. Guess what? It still works. No tracking issues and I put that thing to work on a nightly basis for years. But, the middle mouse doesnt scroll so I needed a new one. So to avoid having to buy another mouse too soon, I decided to get my old standard and pickup the 518. The new design works just fine, but be sure you are right handed. Does anyone use a mouse with their left hand? Not sure, but this mouse was designed to be used with your right hand. Its got the perfect indent for your thumb which is one of the great features. Its a perfect fit. It doesnt have the nice rubber anymore, but thats not a big deal. Its cheaper now so thats fine. Sensitivity buttons above and below the middle mouse button is nice as well. Just tap to change sensitivity as you need. Remember, this thing was made for performance. This is a wired mouse. There is no wireless functionality, so you have to plug it in. This could be good/bad depending on what you need it for. But, just keep in mind, you have to plug the usb into a port. It took a few mins for it to work, surprisingly, but after a few mins it worked fine. We will see if they still use quality parts in this mouse and it lasts a long time. But, Im feeling good about it so far. Sometimes if you work all day with a mouse, just buy a gaming mouse for quality. The standard cheap ones dont last.

The feel is great, the laser sensor is so much better than the optical sensor that would freak out whenever running over a small hair or something, so pretty much its the same as the 3 other mice of this shape that Ive been using for the past 19 years. My dislikes: Gotta change the software, I was using Logitech Gaming Software for a long time and it worked with this, but I had to unplug and replug it every time for it to remember the bindings. So I had to get the G Hub for that to work, so far its fine, but it didnt really import all my settings. Other than that the slick gloss feel is a bit weird to get used to... might have made my hand feel a bit sweaty, but it might have just been the summer. Ive owned the G700s and the G502 and neither of them are as good as this mouse.

When I saw that some spin-off Logitech company, Logitech G, was remaking the MX518 mouse I was ecstatic. The MX518 was the best mouse Id ever used and since mine broke after ~7 years of use I had been looking to replace it. It may look and feel like the Logitech MX518 but it is not. My Logitech G MX518 is *already failing after only 3 months*! It has begun interpreting single clicks as double clicks. The button switch is failing. I do not recommend buying this mouse if you think you are getting a Logitech MX518. This mouse isnt it despite the name. *edit*: The Logitech RMA process is now terrible. Even after I took a video of myself using the mouse showing the defect while holding a piece of paper the tech support refused to honor the warranty. They tried to claim that my firmware version wasnt up to date (on my mouse?!) and then hung up on me *2* times while I was waiting on hold. The only way to get them to approve the RMA was to get angry and yell at them at which point suddenly the firmware version didnt matter (it never did, its a bad switch). DONT BUY LOGITECH.
