> 3 dayIve been using an MX518 since it came out, so 10+ years. It still works but Ive been starting to look for a replacement since the mouse cord is developing a short. Obviously this re-release was the logical option! However - there are some things that a definitely different, and IMHO opinion inferior, to the original. (1) The grip area uses a very hard plastics with a slight texture to it instead of other smooth but ever so slightly rubberized material. The grip security is noticeable worse now, and when I lift off the mouse to re-position on the mouse map, it regularly slips a fraction in my grip. Its a weird material that I havent seen on other mice. Not great. I ended up putting strips of electrical tape on the sides, which helped tremendously. (2) The scroll wheel is pretty poor quality. Other reviews mentioned the same thing. It has a gritty and mushy feel to the action which hasnt loosed or smoothed out in 2+ months of house. Also requires more pressure to move wheel. Not nearly as comfortable as the old one. (3) Different pads on the feet of the mouse with a much larger overall surface area. May or may not lead to a different experience, but it feels like it doesnt glide as nicely. (4) The cord is thinner and more delicate feeling. Might be just as strong, but who knows. (4) Last - at times - I feel like this mouse is lagging in game. I play a lot of FPS games and sometimes the input just feels off in a way that my old mouse (and others Ive used on occasion) never have. I dont know if this is a driver or software issue or what - but its been a pain to try and diagnose. Long story short, I love the classic re-released shape of this mouse, but enough of the details are changed that it just feels like a different mouse, and a lower quality one at that. I regret not returning it earlier and just making the jump to a different more modern designed mouse. Oh well.

> 3 dayI love it. Loved it then, love it now. Does exactly what I need it to and fits in my small girl hand very well. Nothing fancy and feels a little plasticky but it’s fine. Cheap and I can replace it if I need to for not much money. But I used the original version back in the day and I can say that it’s still just as good. I use it to play games and the extra buttons are good for my heal spells.

> 3 dayThis mouse has been a curse/blessing. The curse being its hard to find a mouse I can comfortable grip like this one. Blessing because its just so comfortable and my aiming performance is best with this shape. This was my first mouse back when I was 11 years old playing Delta force land warrior up until Call of Duty 1. Once it broke I tried several other mice with the razer naga being the only one that really supported my grip. I was overjoyed to see Logitech re-released this mouse, and boy does it deserve its legendary title. The only negative is that is does creek a little if I put enough pressure on it. Otherwise performance is exactly what youd expect from a hero sensor, no spins outs whatsoever. Gaming mice really have come such a long way.

> 3 dayIm not really a mouse enthusiast, but I know what I like. I was using an old Logitech wireless mouse for work (at home), and it would cause me to develop pain in my hand if I used to for too long. I remembered I had a MX510 in the early 2000s and LOVED that mouse. So thinking I was being thrifty, I went onto a popular online auction site, thinking I could find one for dirt cheap... I mean who wants a weird shaped mouse from the early 2000s? $70 Starting price, $200+ New. I refused to pay that for a mouse (especially a used one), and settled on the G403, it was not the same as my beloved MX510 but it was A LOT better than the tiny Logitech I was using. I saw recently that there was a re-release of this mouse... I was thrilled. I waited patiently for the US version as I did not want to wait a month+ for one to be imported from Hong Kong. Wow, let me tell you... The design is exact. The feel is exact, even down to the rubber cable. I can use this mouse for hours on end, and never get pain in my hand. A lot of people hate this design, but I love it. I use it to game, and work, and it preforms flawlessly. I booted up Unreal Tournament 99 just for the pure nostalgia... Ive certainly lost my touch over the years, but the mouse felt just like I remember.

> 3 dayThis mouse is not identical to the original MX518. Lets get that out of the way first. Its a little bit lighter in weight, and some people complain about the cord not being braided or something. Are these deal killers? Not for me. If your MX518 is wearing out and you want a modern replacement, go ahead, try a half-dozen other mice to see if they fit your hand. I did. And I came back to the G MX518 because I like the ergonomics so much. The upgraded sensor is just icing on the cake. I like the new paintjob, too. No problems in several months daily use for surfing and gaming. Recommended.

Greater than one weekWow, was I ever surprised to see that Logitech was bringing back the greatest gaming mouse of all time! Believe it or not, Im still using my original MX518 that I bought in 2005! Its never let me down, so I was hesitant to buy this one for fear of jinxing my original. However, I decided to get one to use at the office and am very pleased. Its got the same shape, look, and feel as the original, but has some newer tech inside. The only difference in the feel are the non-glossy parts on the sides and around the scroll wheel. The rubberized coating of the old 518 has been replaced with a rough, matte plastic. This is a great change since that rubber junk always deteriorates and turns into a sticky mess after a few years. The new paint job is quite nice. Gone is the strange dented look. The paint starts as a glossy gray on the buttons and fades to an inky black past the buttons behind the scroll wheel. Tiny metallic specks sparkle throughout. They seem to be a mixture of reddish, and greenish under the fluorescent office lights, but shine bright silver when I shine my cell phone flash on them. Ive also poked around in the new Logitech G HUB software, but have found it to be fairly unintuitive. I had a difficult time, but was eventually able to save a couple different profiles directly to the mouse. This grants the ability to use your mouse profiles on any computer with or without the software. Long story short, If youre looking to recapture the glory days of CS 1.6 and HL2, dont hesitate to buy this revived piece of history! After a couple days of use, I think it should live up to expectations. If the buttons last as long as my original, Ill keep on using these till I die! Ill only need to keep a couple more stashed away!

> 3 dayI like the shape of it and how it fits in my hand, but everything about the scroll wheel just seems very bad for gaming. Its too far back, its *extremely* stiff and unreliable if you want to actually press it and use it as a button... which I do in nearly every game i play. Its actually so stiff to press that since its mounted at an angle, if I let go of the mouse and press straight down on the middle mouse button, the mouse will actually start sliding backward before I get to enough pressure to register a click. If I try to hold the mouse further back so the middle button is easier to click, suddenly I have to stretch awkwardly to click the forward button on the side. I might be wrong but it also feels like you have to press the right click button further than the left click button before it registers a click. Either way I dont like how far you have to press the right click button to register a click compared to other gaming mice Ive used.

> 3 dayI replaced my old (and original) MX518 mouse with this re-released version. In size grip and feel they are exactly identical, I couldnt recommend this mouse highly enough. However, compared to the original the cord they used this time is much thinner. I cant imagine this is for any reason other than lowering its lifespan so people cant go on using the same mouse for ten years. I wouldnt be surprised if other parts on this are inferior to the original.

> 3 dayWhat was once the best mouse around - is now a creaky, noisy, mess. Upon arrival, the mouse wheel scrolling BACKWARD would create a loud grindy squeak sound. Extremely unpleasant.

14-04-2025I dont play games but I like using gaming hardware for CAD work. Extra buttons and lots of precision make a difference. My previous mouse was a Razer Deathadder and I like this much more, primarily for the feel in the hand. It is just the right size, the mouse feels perfect to carry between thumb and pinky and the other fingers fall naturally in their spots. The Razer I always struggled with it feeling too wide, I never feel like my fingers are in the right place. It feels clickier than the Razer also, which is a mixed bag for me but seems good for gaming. I like this mouse very much and Im excited to sit down and use it.
