Ive been using an MX518 since it came out, so 10+ years. It still works but Ive been starting to look for a replacement since the mouse cord is developing a short. Obviously this re-release was the logical option! However - there are some things that a definitely different, and IMHO opinion inferior, to the original. (1) The grip area uses a very hard plastics with a slight texture to it instead of other smooth but ever so slightly rubberized material. The grip security is noticeable worse now, and when I lift off the mouse to re-position on the mouse map, it regularly slips a fraction in my grip. Its a weird material that I havent seen on other mice. Not great. I ended up putting strips of electrical tape on the sides, which helped tremendously. (2) The scroll wheel is pretty poor quality. Other reviews mentioned the same thing. It has a gritty and mushy feel to the action which hasnt loosed or smoothed out in 2+ months of house. Also requires more pressure to move wheel. Not nearly as comfortable as the old one. (3) Different pads on the feet of the mouse with a much larger overall surface area. May or may not lead to a different experience, but it feels like it doesnt glide as nicely. (4) The cord is thinner and more delicate feeling. Might be just as strong, but who knows. (4) Last - at times - I feel like this mouse is lagging in game. I play a lot of FPS games and sometimes the input just feels off in a way that my old mouse (and others Ive used on occasion) never have. I dont know if this is a driver or software issue or what - but its been a pain to try and diagnose. Long story short, I love the classic re-released shape of this mouse, but enough of the details are changed that it just feels like a different mouse, and a lower quality one at that. I regret not returning it earlier and just making the jump to a different more modern designed mouse. Oh well.

I love it. Loved it then, love it now. Does exactly what I need it to and fits in my small girl hand very well. Nothing fancy and feels a little plasticky but it’s fine. Cheap and I can replace it if I need to for not much money. But I used the original version back in the day and I can say that it’s still just as good. I use it to play games and the extra buttons are good for my heal spells.

I owned several of the original MX 518 gaming mice, the grey version that had simulated dents in it and the red version. This was by far the best gaming mouse Ive ever used and this version of it brings back memories. Now its new and improved with the HERO sensor and i love it!!

This mouse is not identical to the original MX518. Lets get that out of the way first. Its a little bit lighter in weight, and some people complain about the cord not being braided or something. Are these deal killers? Not for me. If your MX518 is wearing out and you want a modern replacement, go ahead, try a half-dozen other mice to see if they fit your hand. I did. And I came back to the G MX518 because I like the ergonomics so much. The upgraded sensor is just icing on the cake. I like the new paintjob, too. No problems in several months daily use for surfing and gaming. Recommended.

This mouse has a very good build quality, its around 100g which is great for me, but might seem heavy to others. The Hero sensor is by far the most precise ive ever had. No acceleration, no angle snapping perfect for gaming. Your either going to love the shape of this mouse and the ergonomics, or your going to hate it, no middle ground really. Its a great palm/fingertip/hybrid grip mouse, but most people are probably going to want to palm grip this mouse. Glides great across surfaces. One down side may be the right side finger rest is kinda in a bad spot, but i fingertip grip this mouse so its not that much of an issue. Hope this helps someone!

My younger brother gave me an older version of this mouse years ago and it has lasted me many years until I decided that it was time to replace it and Im glad I did. My old one was still working, it just wasnt working properly anymore. So I purchased a used but like new one and so far so good. This was a purchase that Im glad that I did and when it comes time to replace this one, Ill buy another one of these thats for sure.

In 2005, I bought a mouse for my first gaming computer. That mouse happened to be the Logitech MX510. I have used it since then, and its gone through everything with me. Its been around the world, to school with me, and the military. Finally, the cord started to fail after 15 faithful years. I could hear the constant disconnecting/connecting jingle during casual use or gaming. I knew they came out with the MX518 Legendary, and I finally decided it was time. The weight is a little lighter, the feel is the exact same (in a good way), but its a bitter sweet moment. The MX518 legendary is perfect, and If you decide to buy it, I hope you appreciate it as others have before you for its legacy. It doesnt have RGB or a million programmable buttons, but man does it ride smooth. This is a fully restored muscle car... not a Ferrari. If you can understand that, then youll fall in love with it.

I wanted to try this style of mouse out after using the Microsoft IntelliMouse for years. My palm style grip makes this mouse uncomfortable to use, the most comfortable way I can hold this mouse with a palm grip is at a 45 degree angle counter clockwise so that my index and middle finger are over the right mouse button. If you have a claw grip this may not be an issue at all but for a palm grip the mouse just seems too small and at a weird angle. The thumb and DPI adjustment buttons are nice and the mouse appears to be pretty durable and made with good materials. I just recommend figuring out what type of grip you have before you buy a mouse because if youre a palm gripper this is probably not the mouse for you - Im going back to the IntelliMouse.

I like the shape of it and how it fits in my hand, but everything about the scroll wheel just seems very bad for gaming. Its too far back, its *extremely* stiff and unreliable if you want to actually press it and use it as a button... which I do in nearly every game i play. Its actually so stiff to press that since its mounted at an angle, if I let go of the mouse and press straight down on the middle mouse button, the mouse will actually start sliding backward before I get to enough pressure to register a click. If I try to hold the mouse further back so the middle button is easier to click, suddenly I have to stretch awkwardly to click the forward button on the side. I might be wrong but it also feels like you have to press the right click button further than the left click button before it registers a click. Either way I dont like how far you have to press the right click button to register a click compared to other gaming mice Ive used.

I miss the marbled look that the original MX-518 had but this is still a decent upgrade of the original. It seems a little bit lighter than my original MX-518 but otherwise it feels good in my hand. If you have smaller hands this may not be the mouse for you though. Its very smooth to use and I like that it has higher DPI settings than what the original MX-518 had. It definitely has a snappier feel because of it. As usual the included software is a bloated mess though. Logitech uses the same software for all of their mice so theres settings for RGB lighting which this mouse doesnt have. If you have the RGB setting turned on and your PC has RGB lighting (in my situation my PC uses Mystic Light which is already terrible on its own) the Logitech software may conflict with the RGB software that you are already using and cause headaches. Whats great about this mouse is that you dont need the software if you just want to use it with the default DPI and button settings. The default settings are fine for me so thats what I did. Other than the bloatware I highly recommend this mouse for gaming and you can turn the DPI down low enough for more precision work too. Its not quite the same as the original MX-518 but it is a suitable upgrade worthy of the name.
