The MX518 form has always been my favorite. Seems reasonably durable but all do seem to eventually suffer from the dreaded Logitech double click problem. Cheap as chips though, I have 3 spares in case they stop making them again.

The original MX518 introduced this shape, which I consider the perfect mouse size and shape, at least for my (on the large side) hands. It was then reused in the G5, G500 and G500s, some of the best mice of all time. I had been reluctantly using a G502 Proteus Core for the last couple of years, because I couldnt find anything else to replace my G500 with when it died. I was never really happy with the G502 though, so when I heard they were bringing back the MX518, but with a modern sensor, I jumped on it. It was a day one order for me. Now that I have it I am very happy with it. I love the feel of the shape in my hand, and its subtle looks without all the crazy disco lighting they put on all products these days. Not everything is perfect though, which is why it doesnt get 5 stars. 1.) It is VERY light. If you like a light mouse (that is the gaming trend today) then I suppose that is great. I dont. Ive always liked heavy peripherals. The G5 and G500 allowed you to add weights with a cool weight cartridge on the bottom. This mouse lacks that feature. IN the end I wound up ordering 3 ounces (85g) of weighted tungsten, taking off the cover, and sticking it inside the mouse to almost double the weight. Its much more to my liking now. It would have been better if it had a cartridge like the G5 and G500 though. (and not like the one in the G502, it is much worse, and lighter) 2.) The scroll wheel is a definite downgrade compared to the G502. This is the only thing I miss from the G502. It feels cheap and less precise compared to the one on the G502. Give this mouse a weight cartridge like the G5/G500 and a better scroll wheel, and it might just be the perfect mouse. Or they could - you know - just bring back the G500 with modern optics as well.

Got this yesterday and have logged several hours on it already playing shooters and while the shape is nothing that new, the sensor is extraordinary. You could perform surgery with this thing. The feel of this mouse isnt quite as solid or quality as I would think but its not that bad. The shape is pretty good but I find I have a hard time finding a comfortable spot for my pinky. Its not a huge deal and nothing that would keep me from using it. Again, the sensor is the best Ive ever used and I presently own literally a dozen gaming mice. I usually buy one ever 4 or 5 months. So comfort Id give this a 7.5 with the DeathAdder being a 10. Build Quality Id also give a 7.5. It doesnt feel cheap but it doesnt feel high quality either. Performance Id give a 10. Easily the best, most accurate sensor on the market and Logitechs gaming software is second to none. So yeah, for $60 this is easily worth it. Highly recommended.

This mouse has been a curse/blessing. The curse being its hard to find a mouse I can comfortable grip like this one. Blessing because its just so comfortable and my aiming performance is best with this shape. This was my first mouse back when I was 11 years old playing Delta force land warrior up until Call of Duty 1. Once it broke I tried several other mice with the razer naga being the only one that really supported my grip. I was overjoyed to see Logitech re-released this mouse, and boy does it deserve its legendary title. The only negative is that is does creek a little if I put enough pressure on it. Otherwise performance is exactly what youd expect from a hero sensor, no spins outs whatsoever. Gaming mice really have come such a long way.

Edit as of 2/18/2021: Double clicking has started occurring now Oh well it was goodish while it lasted. Ergonomics are fantastic, performance is predicable and great, gloss finish on the top is the doing of satan..... Im a clean freak of sorts, and when Im holding something glossy my hands sweat that sweat then dries on the glossy object making it not clean... the pictures above are after about a hour of use after cleaning it for me, if your not afraid to modify it and remove the gloss finish its 100% worth it. I am going to wait for my warranty to run out before i attempt to do so. Conclusion, other than the abysmal gloss finish (have no idea how companies think they are still a good idea) its a amazing mouse comfort wise and performance

Pros: -It fits in my hand perfectly. Ive used so many different mice over the years (Razer, Logitech, even the Intellimouse 2.0) and none of them ever fit my hand comfortably. I switch between claw and palm grips and this mouse accommodates both of my styles amazingly. -While the dented metal is indeed gone, the new plastic has glitter all under it which makes it look really nice compared to the old got hit by a baseball bat 500 times MX518. -Cord length is pretty long Cons: -The scroll wheel. Yeah, it has to said. Its not the worst one in the world and it works fine, but it just feels so awkward to scroll with this mouse half the time. Sometimes it works normally but other times it kinda feels like its scraping against something. (Edit: The scraping against something feel is gone. Wear overtime mustve fixed it) -The area where I rest my palm easily gets moist thanks to the new plastic shell, but its not really an annoyance to me. Id rather have the palm rest get moist over the thumbgrips (cough razer... cough)

Wow, was I ever surprised to see that Logitech was bringing back the greatest gaming mouse of all time! Believe it or not, Im still using my original MX518 that I bought in 2005! Its never let me down, so I was hesitant to buy this one for fear of jinxing my original. However, I decided to get one to use at the office and am very pleased. Its got the same shape, look, and feel as the original, but has some newer tech inside. The only difference in the feel are the non-glossy parts on the sides and around the scroll wheel. The rubberized coating of the old 518 has been replaced with a rough, matte plastic. This is a great change since that rubber junk always deteriorates and turns into a sticky mess after a few years. The new paint job is quite nice. Gone is the strange dented look. The paint starts as a glossy gray on the buttons and fades to an inky black past the buttons behind the scroll wheel. Tiny metallic specks sparkle throughout. They seem to be a mixture of reddish, and greenish under the fluorescent office lights, but shine bright silver when I shine my cell phone flash on them. Ive also poked around in the new Logitech G HUB software, but have found it to be fairly unintuitive. I had a difficult time, but was eventually able to save a couple different profiles directly to the mouse. This grants the ability to use your mouse profiles on any computer with or without the software. Long story short, If youre looking to recapture the glory days of CS 1.6 and HL2, dont hesitate to buy this revived piece of history! After a couple days of use, I think it should live up to expectations. If the buttons last as long as my original, Ill keep on using these till I die! Ill only need to keep a couple more stashed away!

    Greater than one week

This mouse is a bit too light for my preferences. I also dislike the build quality of the scroll wheel; it feels flimsy and is too easy to over scroll. I know that may sound ridiculous, but I like my scroll wheels to be a bit a weightier and require more force to move between each discrete position. This just ends up feeling imprecise to me—not that the scroll wheel is actually giving imprecise readings. The side buttons are nice; I have no complaints about them. Theyre well positioned, made of a solid plastic, nice and clicky, and easy to reprogram with 3rd party software (and I imagine w/ the Logitech software as well, but I have no need for that as I already have a very good system for creating macros/shortcuts and the like). Some of the materials of the mouse feel cheap. I very much dislike the choice of a metallic material for the top buttons/surface of the mouse. It doesnt feel nice to the touch, its visually unappealing, and it also collects grease/smudges easily. As for the responsiveness; no complaints. As far as I can tell it lives up to the claims of being high precision.

Ive been involved in the pc gaming community for a good amount of years now, mainly playing fps games like counterstrike, call of duty, overwatch, and so forth to apex now; so, Ive used a good deal of mice over the years, to name some: Zowie fk-1, zowie ec1-A, logitech g703, logitech g203, Logitech g403, and the razer deathadder, and none of them feel as comfortable to hold (palm/claw hybrid) and as precise as the hero sensor in this revamped version of the mx518. Ive always heard good things about the original mx518, but I could never justify spending upwards of $150 for new one or upwards of $50 for a used one that typically had some sort of functional or cosmetic damage. When Logitech announced the mx518 remake I immediately ordered one and I already love it. It feels very comfortable to grip, has a nice look to it (I like the smooth, sparkly design on top that has a sort of ombre effect going from a dark black at the base of the mouse to a lighter grey at the top of the mouse that reminds me of the original mx518s color), and like I mentioned before the hero 16k feels like one of the smoothest, most responsive sensors Ive used in a while. First impressions, 10/10. Ill make an edit in the future after Ive used it for different games. Thanks for bringing the legend back Logitech! Edit: 2/28/19 Pros: - Great ergonomics for right hand mouse users - Design is simple, but looks great. This mouse does not have any RGB or lighting, which isnt a problem with me but could be to someone who wants a mouse with lighting for their flashy set up. - The cord is rubberized and is thinner than other Logitech mice Ive used before like the g203 (rubber) and the g403 (braided), which is nice because it fits into my mouse bungee a little easier but isnt so thin that it slides around or comes out. - This mouse weighs 101 grams which isnt the lightest mouse on the market but still feels very manageable and slides across the surface of my mouse pad with ease. - Hero 16k sensor is one of the best optical sensors on the market right now, feels very responsive and I definitely feel a difference in performance over the g203 I was using before getting the mx518. Cons: - The only issue Ive had so far with this mouse is the glossy surface. Although its sufficiently grippy and aesthetically pleasing (to me, might not be your cup of tea), if you have sweaty hands residue does build up on the surface. Nothing a quick wipe wont fix though.

First Id like to say it arrived looking new, was problem free for about a week, and Amazon handled my return request without any pain or suffering. 5 stars to Amazon. As for product it has a nice fit and finish but Im taking 4 stars off for the weird internal problems. Im just thankful this happened while it was returnable. Now for the review: This item looks to be for the international marketplace (I dont know if that matters, it does not seem to be a Chinese knock off product although it is about half the price of the original released years ago), it has Chinese and English all over the box. Material quality is good but compared to the original MX518 it is lighter and the USB line is thinner and more fragile looking. It did link with with the Logitech gaming software once I updated the software to the current version and all functions worked as expected. Worked as good as the original MX518 up until it had problems. I had to return it because after a week my #5 button forward stopped working for no apparent reason. I tried it in another computer and then the left click had problems. I could right click something and left click from the drop down and it worked, but if I tried to left click anything else it would not select it, not even the X in the corner of a window. I should mention the second computer is a laptop and the MX518 caused the touchpad left click to have the same problem and the problem persisted even after the mouse was unplugged. Thankfully restarting after unplugging cleared the problem until I plugged the MX518 in again. With mouse plugged in and computer restarted the problem persisted with the two different computers respectively. Due to the odd problems this mouse started having I cannot in good conscience recommend it. Edit: I thought I bought from the main seller (Logitech or Amazon) but am now seeing Sold by: Safe N Quick after returning it. Which doesnt even sell the mouse currently and if I go to the items main product page it is Sold by: Logitech® Official. Also as I noted before the box It came in has Chinese on it. Where as other customer reviews have a box with only English as you would expect from Logitech in the USA. So I guess...Be careful at checkout with this product.
