    Greater than one week

Disclosure: I am not a gamer. I needed to replace the Logitech M500 mouse (RIP) Ive been using for nearly 20 years. I am retired and have some hobbies. I thought I could improve on my efforts by up-grading my mouse. This is the 3rd Logitech mouse in as many weeks (Thank you Amazon for making returns so easy). The MX518 is supposed to be the descendant of my M500. I had decided to give up on programmable buttons and wireless so this seemed to be the obvious choice. Wrong! One of the most useful features of the M500 was what is referred to as hyperscroll. Guess what was removed from the MX518?. Add to that, the optics have been changed and are not very reliable. Logitech software is questionable. Returned to Amazon.

Nostalgia in my hand. I had one of the 510s and knew I had to have this as soon as it was announced. Got it quick and hooked it right up. Pros: the shape is exactly as I remembered as the most comfy mouse Ive owned. Response is great and Im loving it so far. Cons: Material quality. The plastic is a little creaky and feels a bit cheap. Maybe keep the shape and improve the plastic on top? Also, I would have loved if they had added the scroll wheel that adjusts based on how fast youre scrolling. Anyway, its still a great mouse but with the plastic feel and old scroll wheel, I wouldnt have charged more than $39.99 for it.

Ive been involved in the pc gaming community for a good amount of years now, mainly playing fps games like counterstrike, call of duty, overwatch, and so forth to apex now; so, Ive used a good deal of mice over the years, to name some: Zowie fk-1, zowie ec1-A, logitech g703, logitech g203, Logitech g403, and the razer deathadder, and none of them feel as comfortable to hold (palm/claw hybrid) and as precise as the hero sensor in this revamped version of the mx518. Ive always heard good things about the original mx518, but I could never justify spending upwards of $150 for new one or upwards of $50 for a used one that typically had some sort of functional or cosmetic damage. When Logitech announced the mx518 remake I immediately ordered one and I already love it. It feels very comfortable to grip, has a nice look to it (I like the smooth, sparkly design on top that has a sort of ombre effect going from a dark black at the base of the mouse to a lighter grey at the top of the mouse that reminds me of the original mx518s color), and like I mentioned before the hero 16k feels like one of the smoothest, most responsive sensors Ive used in a while. First impressions, 10/10. Ill make an edit in the future after Ive used it for different games. Thanks for bringing the legend back Logitech! Edit: 2/28/19 Pros: - Great ergonomics for right hand mouse users - Design is simple, but looks great. This mouse does not have any RGB or lighting, which isnt a problem with me but could be to someone who wants a mouse with lighting for their flashy set up. - The cord is rubberized and is thinner than other Logitech mice Ive used before like the g203 (rubber) and the g403 (braided), which is nice because it fits into my mouse bungee a little easier but isnt so thin that it slides around or comes out. - This mouse weighs 101 grams which isnt the lightest mouse on the market but still feels very manageable and slides across the surface of my mouse pad with ease. - Hero 16k sensor is one of the best optical sensors on the market right now, feels very responsive and I definitely feel a difference in performance over the g203 I was using before getting the mx518. Cons: - The only issue Ive had so far with this mouse is the glossy surface. Although its sufficiently grippy and aesthetically pleasing (to me, might not be your cup of tea), if you have sweaty hands residue does build up on the surface. Nothing a quick wipe wont fix though.

I dont play games but I like using gaming hardware for CAD work. Extra buttons and lots of precision make a difference. My previous mouse was a Razer Deathadder and I like this much more, primarily for the feel in the hand. It is just the right size, the mouse feels perfect to carry between thumb and pinky and the other fingers fall naturally in their spots. The Razer I always struggled with it feeling too wide, I never feel like my fingers are in the right place. It feels clickier than the Razer also, which is a mixed bag for me but seems good for gaming. I like this mouse very much and Im excited to sit down and use it.

This mouse has a very good build quality, its around 100g which is great for me, but might seem heavy to others. The Hero sensor is by far the most precise ive ever had. No acceleration, no angle snapping perfect for gaming. Your either going to love the shape of this mouse and the ergonomics, or your going to hate it, no middle ground really. Its a great palm/fingertip/hybrid grip mouse, but most people are probably going to want to palm grip this mouse. Glides great across surfaces. One down side may be the right side finger rest is kinda in a bad spot, but i fingertip grip this mouse so its not that much of an issue. Hope this helps someone!

This mouse has the same finely sculpted ergonomics as the old MX518, but with a much better sensor. The body is a bit lighter, which isnt particularly good if youre used to filling up all the weight cartridges on the tunable mice, which is a feature this mouse does not have. The shell is identical to the MX518, but with different materials and a different finish. The sides are nice textured plastic. The top is an extremely high-gloss surface that is very eye-catching, but this is where my one gripe comes in. Who the heck designed this finish? The glossy, lightly adherent finish attracts skin oils like nothing else. I have literally watched the clickers on this mouse gum up in minutes, right before my very eyes. The only way to avoid instantly fouling the top surface of this thing with skin oils would be to literally scrub your fingertips with a pumice stone every morning. Did they even test this thing, and if they did, were they wearing white cotton museum keeper gloves the entire time? Disappointing.

I have owned just about every mouse over the years for gaming. (Last used was the Razer Deathadder). I have also owned the original version of this mouse many years ago and it lasted me about 6 years. I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best mouse on the market at the moment. It is built just like the original, and feels exactly the same as I remember just with upgraded internals. What makes this mouse the best? The simplistic design with no frills.. Works as intended every time and is comfortable for extended use. Cant ask for more... Thank You Logitech for bringing back the best!
