Im not really a mouse enthusiast, but I know what I like. I was using an old Logitech wireless mouse for work (at home), and it would cause me to develop pain in my hand if I used to for too long. I remembered I had a MX510 in the early 2000s and LOVED that mouse. So thinking I was being thrifty, I went onto a popular online auction site, thinking I could find one for dirt cheap... I mean who wants a weird shaped mouse from the early 2000s? $70 Starting price, $200+ New. I refused to pay that for a mouse (especially a used one), and settled on the G403, it was not the same as my beloved MX510 but it was A LOT better than the tiny Logitech I was using. I saw recently that there was a re-release of this mouse... I was thrilled. I waited patiently for the US version as I did not want to wait a month+ for one to be imported from Hong Kong. Wow, let me tell you... The design is exact. The feel is exact, even down to the rubber cable. I can use this mouse for hours on end, and never get pain in my hand. A lot of people hate this design, but I love it. I use it to game, and work, and it preforms flawlessly. I booted up Unreal Tournament 99 just for the pure nostalgia... Ive certainly lost my touch over the years, but the mouse felt just like I remember.

My original MX518 mouse bought in 2005 lasted me 14 years. Eventually, the USB cable gave out and that was the end of it. It was my most beloved mouse. Fast-forward now to the MX518 re-release in 2019 (and when my original mouse also coincidentally died). I bought the newer version and it lasted me exactly 1 year. Yes - one whole year. Both a scroll wheel and a click button went caput instantly. I then also went through 3 Logitech g305 mice - each one not lasting me more than a few months. The main culprit with all the recent mice products seem to be the scroll wheels. All my mice during this time were kept in pristine condition, no debris, no abuse. I dont even game as much in 2022 as I did during all the years I had the first mx518 - just to put it in a better perspective. I now just bought yet another mx518 mouse. Lets see how long this one lasts. I am giving 3 stars no matter what because its extremely evident the quality of ALL Logitech mice including the mx518 are nothing compared to the original mice products they built in past years long gone. The plastic is cheaper, and they are clearly using lower-grade materials inside.

Other reviews are accurate. This isnt the same as the old mx mouses. It just doesnt feel solid like before. Minor squeaks, and a little stick in the scroll..

Edit as of 2/18/2021: Double clicking has started occurring now Oh well it was goodish while it lasted. Ergonomics are fantastic, performance is predicable and great, gloss finish on the top is the doing of satan..... Im a clean freak of sorts, and when Im holding something glossy my hands sweat that sweat then dries on the glossy object making it not clean... the pictures above are after about a hour of use after cleaning it for me, if your not afraid to modify it and remove the gloss finish its 100% worth it. I am going to wait for my warranty to run out before i attempt to do so. Conclusion, other than the abysmal gloss finish (have no idea how companies think they are still a good idea) its a amazing mouse comfort wise and performance

I had the old MX518. I had it for over a decade. This updated version is even BETTER! They really took an existing fan-favorite product and drastically improved it. The middle wheel actually works a lot better for me since its smoother rather than too rubbery-thick like the previous old one. Makes it a lot easier and smoother to go from first person to third person view (zooming in and out of character) in games. On my old one after a period of time, the middle wheel occasionally got stuck as a result (i think it had deeper grooves). I was really blown away when I got this replacement mouse. I will never use any other mouse as long as I can keep having one of these. I was skeptical paying $54+ dollars on amazon for it, but it was well worth it. I think it actually costs more on Logitechs site. I know I paid a lot less for my old one, but I was desperate since I had an accident rendering my old one useless. I use a cheap, basic mouse for my work computer at home, but for personal PC (and gaming rig) this is the premier mouse to use. Its very comfortable on my hand, and I love that my thumb can rest inside the grooved notch for it. Not only great for games, but its comfortable if you need to surf the web for long periods of time.

Ive been involved in the pc gaming community for a good amount of years now, mainly playing fps games like counterstrike, call of duty, overwatch, and so forth to apex now; so, Ive used a good deal of mice over the years, to name some: Zowie fk-1, zowie ec1-A, logitech g703, logitech g203, Logitech g403, and the razer deathadder, and none of them feel as comfortable to hold (palm/claw hybrid) and as precise as the hero sensor in this revamped version of the mx518. Ive always heard good things about the original mx518, but I could never justify spending upwards of $150 for new one or upwards of $50 for a used one that typically had some sort of functional or cosmetic damage. When Logitech announced the mx518 remake I immediately ordered one and I already love it. It feels very comfortable to grip, has a nice look to it (I like the smooth, sparkly design on top that has a sort of ombre effect going from a dark black at the base of the mouse to a lighter grey at the top of the mouse that reminds me of the original mx518s color), and like I mentioned before the hero 16k feels like one of the smoothest, most responsive sensors Ive used in a while. First impressions, 10/10. Ill make an edit in the future after Ive used it for different games. Thanks for bringing the legend back Logitech! Edit: 2/28/19 Pros: - Great ergonomics for right hand mouse users - Design is simple, but looks great. This mouse does not have any RGB or lighting, which isnt a problem with me but could be to someone who wants a mouse with lighting for their flashy set up. - The cord is rubberized and is thinner than other Logitech mice Ive used before like the g203 (rubber) and the g403 (braided), which is nice because it fits into my mouse bungee a little easier but isnt so thin that it slides around or comes out. - This mouse weighs 101 grams which isnt the lightest mouse on the market but still feels very manageable and slides across the surface of my mouse pad with ease. - Hero 16k sensor is one of the best optical sensors on the market right now, feels very responsive and I definitely feel a difference in performance over the g203 I was using before getting the mx518. Cons: - The only issue Ive had so far with this mouse is the glossy surface. Although its sufficiently grippy and aesthetically pleasing (to me, might not be your cup of tea), if you have sweaty hands residue does build up on the surface. Nothing a quick wipe wont fix though.

Been a big fan of the Logitech M510s for the ergonomics this is very similar but hardwired so no worries about batteries or where the dongle is, which is better for my gaming desktop. This largely met my expectations. Unlike the 510 scroll wheel is stiff and makes noise and lacks side to side function. Usable but coming from Logitech M510 my expectations where higher.

Its lighter then the orgnal but the mouse wheel is awful it squeaks every time i use it take way more rolls then the others use to so you get even MORE squeaking.

Nostalgia in my hand. I had one of the 510s and knew I had to have this as soon as it was announced. Got it quick and hooked it right up. Pros: the shape is exactly as I remembered as the most comfy mouse Ive owned. Response is great and Im loving it so far. Cons: Material quality. The plastic is a little creaky and feels a bit cheap. Maybe keep the shape and improve the plastic on top? Also, I would have loved if they had added the scroll wheel that adjusts based on how fast youre scrolling. Anyway, its still a great mouse but with the plastic feel and old scroll wheel, I wouldnt have charged more than $39.99 for it.
