> 3 dayLove the classic feeling of the mouse, it brings back memories of how confortable it was, sensor and software wise is up-to date, but is lacking some details that you have come to expect from current mice like braided cable an a little more weight to it (coming from a G500) but it is to be expected it is just a matter of getting use to it . Overall loving the mouse and hopping that it will last as much as my original MX510 (still working just fine after so many years)

> 3 dayI love it. Loved it then, love it now. Does exactly what I need it to and fits in my small girl hand very well. Nothing fancy and feels a little plasticky but it’s fine. Cheap and I can replace it if I need to for not much money. But I used the original version back in the day and I can say that it’s still just as good. I use it to play games and the extra buttons are good for my heal spells.

Greater than one weekLogitechs MX5xx series mice have been, in my opinion, the best thing on the market for years. They updated it from the original with larger (and I assume longer-lasting) slippery pads on the bottom. As before, the left/right buttons are tactile and quiet, the two thumb buttons are placed perfectly to be accessible but not be pressed accidentally. The scroll wheel is, again, consistent and accurate, providing just enough tactile feedback and friction to end up exactly where you want it. Above and below the scroll wheel are sensitivity adjustment buttons, which - thank you, Logitech - are platform-independent. Works identically on my windows and Macbook without installing any drivers at all. Ive traveled with similar models from Logitech for years, have dropped them, had things fall on them, and they just keep working. For gaming or general desktop use, this is the most comfortable and predictable mouse I have found.

> 3 dayI dont have big hands but this was small even to me. Worked well and the design was good but it just seemed smaller than I was used to.

Greater than one weekI was heartbroken when my my old MX 518 died a few years ago. It was the greatest gaming mouse I’ve ever owned. Logitech absolutely nailed the ergonomics on the 518. I never found an adequate replacement. I’m not a fan of Logitech’s newer mice. They have great sensors, but very poor ergonomics with sharp edges and poor button placement. Someone at Logitech finally came to their senses it seems. The revamped 518 gives you the best of both worlds: the ergonomics of a 518 body combined with modern internals. This feels as great in my hand as I remember. Actually I think the build quality on this might be slightly better than the original. The sensor is definitely way more precise. Overall it’s even better than the old 518. Kudos to Logitech for actually listening and giving the people what they were wanting.

> 3 dayI bought the original MX518 in 2009 and it lasted me until 2020. 11 years! I had to replace it with another MX518 and it timed up perfectly with the new release of the MX518. I thought I was lucky. Most of what made the original MX518 great was how durable it was. Again, 11 years! The moment I got the new one, I couldnt help but notice the cord on it is absolutely pitiful compared to the old mouse. And lo and behold, my kitten chewed through it. The mouse is still functional, but if the cords quality is bad, I assume the rest of the mouse was made as cheaply as possible. I honestly think I could break through this cord with my fingernails. This mouse came from Logitech so its not an issue of 3rd party seller. Logitech, please dont cut corners on quality. I have $3 usb-c cords with thicker covering than this $60 mouse.

Greater than one weekI still have an older yet pretty decent condition MX518 and this one is almost identical in feel. The buttons, scroll wheel, etc. are all very similar. The pads on the bottom are much better than the original. I hope Logitech releases some more updated classics, especially the G500s. If the quality is as good as the MX518 redux, itll pretty much be a guaranteed purchase.

23-11-2024Call it what you want, the MX518/G400/G400S/MX518 Legendary keeps coming back for good reason: its a dead simple mouse with no frills and a whole lot of heft for those with hands on the larger side (And by hands I mean hand, lefties are left out on this design unfortunately) or those that prefer their mice to have some weight. Set the DPI to 800, turn the polling rate to 1,000 Hz, turn off smoothing and acceleration and youve got a mouse FPS junkies have been trusting for 15 years. As always, the thin cable is the weak spot on this line, but having used a G Pro for 3 years with the heavy braided cable constantly getting stuck on everything without it being bungeed up, Id rather just be gentle with a thinner and lighter cable. Pros: +Ergos, size and weight best described as Its chonk. Those with larger hands or those that like to rest their hand on the mouse will come back to this mouse like a long lost friend. This has to be Logitechs longest running gaming mouse both in years and number of refreshes. +Unlike the G Pro, that heft helps it to not be bullied by its cable. The thin, rubber cable also doesnt get stuck on things nearly as much as the Pros braided cable. +Sensors have been updated to Logitechs latest, but I cant tell the difference from my G400S or G Pro. You still dont have to worry about angle snapping. YMMV: #Logitechs G Hub sucks but thats not necessarily this mouses fault. Unless you need to be frequently messing with this or other devices settings, feel free to save your settings to the mouses internal memory and uninstall G Hub to save 250 Megs. You certainly wont need lighting settings or anything. #This is personal taste but the G branding is boring. Logitech had a chance to shout out the MX518s old Logitech logo on the mouse and with the included sticker but didnt. I do like the new glossy silver fade-to-black design and prefer it to the old 518s quicksilver design. Cons: -Ergos, size and weight best described as dated. Those with smaller hands, those that claw grip, lefties, weaker hands etc, will find that theyve purchased a brick with 2005s idea of what a hand should contour to. -The cable is still going to be what fails first. Its thin, rubber and connected to the mouse with only a bit of strain relief. Theres replacement cables and feet out there if youre in need. -The G400S had a kind of tacky rubbery feeling to its outer shell and sides? The MX518L is all glossy plastic and hard plastic on the sides. Not great for sweaty hands.

> 3 dayI was going to give my OG MX518 a retirement party. I bought the original Mx518 when it first came out to replace the previous Logitech best, the MX510, which I got in the last century. Heres the rundown: ( no pun intended but...) The new mouse is lighter(not in a good way), has a shorter, noticeably thinner wire, lacks infinite scroll and the material is vastly inferior. Leaving off the 3D dimples mustve saved a penny because now the mouse looks, ordinarily plain, like most mice. The sides of the Original had a soft ,almost brushed cloth feel that was/is pleasant to lay hands on but this new iteration has a matte black plastic piece that was roughed up a little. This revival was a sop to saps like me who wanted a new mouse just like the old mouse but they couldnt do it. They had to do it on the cheap. If this mouse was a movie itd be Ghostbusters 2016. Im happy if the increase in DPI is what you were looking for but me and those new folks that want to feel the Legendary mouse everyone raved about. Well, you cant. They say, You cant go home again, and that applies here. Its a good mouse but for the current price there must be better mice made in the 21st century.
