Meta Portal TV - Big Screen Smart Video Calling for Group Calls on Your TV

So far so good staying in contact with our grandson but I sent back the remote for not working a year ago and still havent gotten a replacement... Crap!!!

Gave this as a gift , and they enjoy it tremendously.

For some reason, I may be blocked from writing a review for the mini portal. I did not have a favorable review for the portal TV. However I want to say that the portal mini has been wonderful. This present was for my elderly parents and it has added quality to our daily life. I cant say enough and Im so happy that I tried the mini after my bad experience with the portal TV. If youre buying for elderly buy the mini or standalone portals

There should be an option for disabling the auto face tracking feature ; this option is available on other Portal devices but missing in the Portal TV. Also the face augmented reality filters stopped working after a recent update. I also remember this device was advertised to run Amazon Prime Video app but it doesnt. Its also missing a browser app. Another issue is backlight in case your tv is facing a window which is my case, the other side wouldnt see me but clearly just a dark silluhet of me.

Love it!!! The panning and zooming feature allows you to move around your room and keeps you in view on calls.this allows you to cook and clean while on a call. Hands free and it like your friend is in your home visiting. A Covid must have during this time when we re so limited to visits.

Everything works amazingly. Except everytime I turn on the portal I have to reconnect the remote or re-log into the portal apps. Takes too long to reconnect it all.

So, my husband had to get this because my in laws couldn’t figure out how to use the Echo Show to screen chat. Or maybe he just wanted an extra large screen, I don’t know. We got this thing a few months back (and have used it once to chat with the in laws.) Three times now this thing has randomly reset back to factory default and deleted all our settings. Of all the Echos we’ve had for years we’ve never had one reset and delete all the info we put in. If I could, I would go back to the Echo show and get rid of this thing.

This portal idea is good but the non existent Parts or support from Facebook makes it a bust. If you drop it you are straight out of luck. There are other products that are repairable.

This is so great for families who live far apart, especially when traveling is limited due to the pandemic!
