I attached it to the post next to the steps so our elderly friends can grab it to get up the steps.

Quite easy to install and very sturdy. It is just what we needed to assist in the bathroom near the toilet. Nice to have something to assist in sitting and getting up.

Easy to install, durable, clean appearance, and provides a great solution for situations requiring something to hold on to.

I purchased a 24 inch and a 12 inch Moen grab bar. Following the installation instructions, the 24 inch bar went up very easily. The screws for the 12 inch bar, however, were very soft. The drive slots for a #2 U.S. Phillips screw driver are not cut deep enough. Because the screw is so soft, the drive strips in the screw. The bar is nice, but you may want to use harder screws. I had some on hand so it wasnt a problem.

I was trying to buy the Peened model (I think it should be called knurled). Dont know how I ended up clicking on the Polished Stainless one. At any rate this style looked good so I didnt try to exchange my purchase. The bars (I bought two) look nice installed, as if they were there all along. I opted to use a Moen Secure Mount Anchor on each end of each bar instead of trying to mount one end of each bar to a stud. I have a stud finder that was fairly well reviewed but I dont trust it enough to work through bathroom tile...a mistake in tile would be harder to fix than in dry wall. The down side of this purchase/installation was that I spent more on a diamond grit hole saw and adapter, and 4 Secure Mounts than I did for two grab bars. I was a little apprehensive about making a 1 1/4 inch hole, the size required for the Moen Secure Mounts, in tile because of my past experience with short life spans of small diamond tipped drills, but my hole saw lasted through the task. Be patient and keep the cutting end of the hole saw wet at all times. Use a spray bottle or sponge. An if at all possible use a pilot drill and/or some kind of guide. My saw/adapter combination didnt allow for using a pilot drill so the task of making a large hole in a tile was more difficult than it needed to be but Im patient. Once the holes were made the Secure Mounts installed easily. If you decide to install your own grab bars, dont just install them because they look good in that spot, or thats where the picture shows them. Give some thought to how you will use them...getting in and out, or getting up and down, or both. If youre using short bars the location will be more critical. Make sure you dont have to reach, or lean too far, or twist to access them. If you feel awkward you may not even use them. That I gave this product three stars doesnt mean I think its average...it does whats claimed for it. And it just sits there. And I feel confident in it. It holds my weight and the intended user of these bars is lighter than me. I give myself four stars for locating them properly :-)

Considering the statistics stating that one of the major causes of injuries at home is slipping and falling in the shower or tub, I thought this was a wise move before I fell prey to this. I have a deeper soaking tub thats also a shower, and therefore the risks getting in and out are greater than average. It was ordered through Amazons web-site and the reason I chose it was because it was the cheapest of all the products in this category, in a brass finish. It arrived within 3 days of the order, and was packaged well. The grab bars covers over the mount were a bit difficult to remove, and needed a screwdriver to prise off. Youve got to do it carefully so as not to mar the finish, but the finish seemed pretty tough anyway. The mount provides multiple positions to position screws. It recommends that you use three screws each, but its kind of hard to find enough room on a 2 stud to put two screws side-by-side, especially when you have to first accurately locate the studs position using a sensor. This is probably the hardest part in trying to mount this on the tiled wall adjacent to the shower / tub. Otherwise, everything else went easily - just be careful drilling through tilework so as not to crack it. I used a hammer drill with a 3/8 bit, but first I covered the drill spot with a piece of electrical tape on which I marked the hole positions. Then go slow... After screwing in the bar, it was easy to slip the brass covers over the mounting plates.

We bought two short grab bars & one long grab bar & had themr professionally installed. They are so sturdy & strong and has a good feel to it when you grab hold. As senior citizens, we now feel so much better about getting in & out the shower & tub. Peace of mind*
