The brightness factor on the Hue units is significantly better than other competitors in my opinion. These work in any lamps, and tie into the existing Hue system in the room with no fuss via the app. One thing of note is that the pre-built programs from Phillips will distribute their color palette across the rooms total number of fixtures so you may end up with a single-color on each fixture in noticeable ways but this can be overcome by dialing in your settings within the app. Definitely worth the effort (very minimal btw) because these lights add a whole other dimension to the aesthetic of any room.

I love these lights. Used them to replace my standard white Phillips hue lights. I love them and Im getting more. Setup has also become way easier with the newer generation. I waited to install them because I remembered last time it took me about 45 minutes to setup and this time it took all of 10. I really cant wait to get more. I dont use Alexa, I use Google home and the integration with that system is also flawless.

Phillips has always been a leader in the lighting industry. Unfortunately their product was 3x the price of other Smart Lamps and there software app is nice EXCEPT for one minor item. You have to have a monthly subscription to get the app to opperate without any add/bloat/nag ware. Everyone has played free game apps that constantly nag you and force you to watch a mini-commercials...now take that and apply it to turning your lamp on/off or changing its color. Its multiple clicks and timed wait periods before the app responds. I am sure there are other advantages for the paid subscription services but I didnt need anything but the basics. Its a shame as the Phillips app appeared nice but it was too painful to really explore so I dont really know how well it works. I bought the Phillips along with two other never-heard-of-them brands to see which I liked the best and figured I would keep/use all three long term to see which did best over the long haul. All three lamps were nice and put out quality light levels. All three were easy to setup, though the Phillips was a tad simpler. The other two brands (Treatlife and Btclink SmartLife) used what was basically the same core app that was tweaked for their brand. Both apps recognized and controlled both lamps in an identical fashion though the Smartlife App had a few more features built-in so that is the one I am using for both lamps. Considering the price difference between the three, it doesnt make sense to go with the Phillips unless their paid subscription plans and their hub offers features you need/want. I wouldnt be surprised if the Phillips lamp would outlast the other products but replacing a wireless devise that sits on your network a little more often is probably not a bad thing and considering one lamp was 9.99, I could get almost four for the price of one Phillips lamp, and I get a fully functioning app.

The bulbs are So Simple to install and setup. And to connect to my Alexa, well, it did it without any help from me. Kids love the color and I like how bright it can get. Well Done!

These are so worth it. They are pricey, but they work perfectly with Alexa, no third party app which is a big deal if youve ever had to deal with a third party app for your lights. The fact I can not only turn on my lights with my voice, coming home at night its the best cause I dont have to leave on any lights and as soon as I open the door I say to Alexa, Alexa its dark in here and the one light I set up for that saying turns on right by the door. I use the color to attract the kids when they are in their rooms. Its better then yelling across the house. I can also use the Alexa echos as intercoms but the light thing is the easiest to do and it doesnt stop my music on my echo. If you can budget for these instead of the cheapos that require that third party app, I would suggest it. If not, those cheapos, which I have one thats just whites, warm white to cool white, and it works just fine, but if given the choice, I would go with the Philips Hue brand.

At this time a problem has developed with Echo Dot and Hue. Amazon admitted to me this is a new and resent development. My Alexa setup was working fine with no bridge. I called Amazon to ask about setting up a new sound bar with Alexa. I was told I had to up grade my music account for a one time fee of $150 to use up to 5 smart home devices. I said no and politely ended the call. That’s when all my problems started. Later when I tried to turn on my Hue lights I realized my entire setup did not work anymore. Even my Echo Dots did not respond. I called Amazon and they said there was no $150 promo to set up 5 smart home devices and I should check my credit card. I had to to a factory reset on both my Echo Dots but never got my experience Hue bulbs to work again. I feel like I have been scammed by a Amazon customer service representative. I waisted hours on the phone with Amazon and got no where. They said they are having problems with Hue bulbs now and will call me back in 5 days. I’m sick and tired of Amazon customer service representatives that can barely speak English talking from god knows where. And obviously got one that was also a scammer. My bulbs no longer show up on my Alexa app. and I feel my app was hacked. I no longer trust Amazon Echo Dot and will not buy more Hue bulbs. Amazon has no solution at this time, do not buy. UPDATE no call back from Amazon after 5 days and no way to solve the problem. Had to buy new bulbs.

The alexa I ordered already came with 1 Phillips Hue White, decided to get a 2 pack of colored ones when the white worked so well. Grouping them really does kind of hit or miss but I guess that just dependant on how versed you are with Alexa. We cant get it to recognize the groups Bedroom Lights, only Bed 1 and Bed 2 along with Bathroom. Aside from that the lights are great though, no hiccups over a month later (so far). Really nice pre set light options too, they can get REALLY bright like the sun is shining right into your room and the dim settings are perfect for me and my girlfriend, not too dark that you cant see on 1% but can still nap.
